Actually I'm glad it posted big... there's a lot going on in the photo and I think the impact would have been lost if it was posted in the same size as the dread pic.

Vents marine finished-ish. Going to do some chipping on the black parts.

And yes, its a chaplain with a NFW. Fun to make a totally illegal unit now and then.

That's seriously pretty WM: I really like the contrast of DA scheme with the halberd. And as for illegal units, well, why the devil not eh? You know my feelings on that matter *cough*techmarinedreadnought*cough*.

Post some pictures of your work, and propose a marine you'd like to paint or receive and people will respond with offers. Lots of people watch this thread, so you'll be contacted either on the thread or through PM sooner or later

I think I'd like in on this, here's the chaplain in terminator armor from my Sable Swords chapter. He's about to bring the emperor's sweet vengeance to my British line infantry AND my U.S. Paratroopers, so you know this chapter is tough as nails!

The sable swords are in Codex: Space Marines but to put it simply they wear black power armor with white knee pads and white pauldron linings. I'd be happy swapping plain standard battle brothers with someone or if anybody wants to get fancy I'd be more than happy to see if there's any cool SM's in the FLGS consignment case that demand to be painted!

Gits is very busy preparing for Adepticon at the moment, so isn't taking Mantis Warrior offers, but if you're looking for a poor second to his skill with a brush (and a slightly grittier painting style), check out my Mantis Warriors blog in my sig. If you like my work we can definitely work something out.

(If not, no hard feelings, I know Gits work is pretty exemplary and you're pretty darn good yourself!)

By the way, I will spend a LOT more time painting a swap marine than I did any of the tactical marines... It'll be Ahazra Redth level of painting, not just slap it on and run

BG's got the right of it... I'm out for a while as I'm prepping for a trounament & have several very intense conversions for trade to do after that. He's no "sloppy second" though & does a fine job with my chapter.

Due to lack of camera, no pics on my progress yet for my swap with BishopGore.

His non-gk arm has been attached to his body, and a pad has been attached.
Before I pick a backpack, do you want him to have backpack decoration (flags, icons, etc) ?

Thanks for the offer Bishop! I'll wait a bit to see if there's anymore offers, maybe paint a group of guys for y'all or something like that.
And awww shucks I'm not that good, I don't think at least, although when you live somewhere live Switzerland and you never see any other models it's hard to gauge, WHAT I WOULDN'T GIVE FOR A PAINTING COMP HERE!

I usually stick to banner poles for HQs only in my own army, but he is a visitor, so I leave it to your own judgement. If you want me to choose, I would say no, unless you think the addition of a banner pole will frame his head better, or give him something he is missing

Basic colours have been added, did a little highlighting on the backpack so far to check the colours went well together. Lots of work ahead!

BD, I'll get pics up asap.

Do you think you can have him pointing the bolter, rather than across his chest if that is possible?
Such a cool looking marine deserves 'active arms'
(If you don't want to, its fine, but just a suggestion )

Do you want your marine decked out with pouches and nades?

Sure, I am sure I have plenty of Wolfy styled bolters knocking around.

Pouches, yes, love pouches! I should dig some out for the Techmarine...

BLACKHAND wrote:Ok so I thought I would upload some WIPs a bit earlier than expected

First up is the marine I am starting for Tony_Nids_10, wanted to see how much movement I could get without resorting to an assault marine's legs and figured that by giving him some uneven terrain and having him balance on it while aiming I might get the movement I wanted.

He need shortening at the waist and the left arm may get tucked closer to the torso, and of course the GS work on the gun arm is only a third done but you get the idea

Next is the marine I am building for Gitsplitta..and he needs a bit of explanation.
I've been a real fan of Git's two blogs since he started them and his "Doom Eagle Odyssey" blog has given me much hope that I may eventually have a son interested in the hobby (or failing that perhaps my daughter will get into it, she already helps daddy paint by tipping my paint jars on the desk and finger painting the walls..why blazing orange? why?) Anyhoo I have been tempted to build my version of a mantis warrior for a while and send it to splitta but this project has given me the perfect excuse to send my regards without stepping on his toes by hijacking his chapter!

So without further waffling I present to you

"Leads-the-Pride"...

Why is his hand waving around like that? is he just happy to see us?

No, he is waving on his two young charges, brave young warriors who have been chosen to join the ranks of the Sabre Legion and fight for the rest of their lives in the unending wars of the Imperium...

I built a decorative base for the three figures but the all pop out as you can see....

I probably should have waited till I had a paint job on the young warriors that showed them off better but hey it's late and I have been working on them all day I want to get some feedback

Cheers,
wow these are really good do you have any left? I would love to swap

Gitsplitta wrote:OK, finally got things to the point where I can show my progress. This is for my trade with Styrofoam04 who runs Red Corsairs, the former allies and now arch enemies of my Mantis Warriors.

Meet Benedictus. A member of the MW vanguard and liaison officer to the Astral Claws during the Badab War. He was corrupted by chaos during that time and fled with the Astral Claws (now Red Corsairs). The final model will have a Chapterhouse pre-herasy jump pack and a chaos shoulder pad on the cybernetic arm (left), and one of my original free-hand mantis warrior pads on the right arm. Depicted in a flying Bushido kick (the right leg is actually bent at a sharp angle to simulate the leap, you just can't see it from this angle).

I wanted him to be a little chaossy but not over the top. He's not a traditional chaos marine, as with the Red Corsairs... having "turned" relatively recently (100 yrs or less). Since the original Mantis Warrior badge had large mandibles, I've included them in the build. I figure things like chainswords would wear out, so I used chaos swords instead of imperial models. He has one cybernetic arm and on that shoulder will be a chaos pad, as if he'd lost an arm in a battle and had to repace it (and the equipment) with what was at hand.

It's a really rough build at this point, but will get more refined in short order.

If you want to see shots from other angles, check out Styro's blog at... http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/305150.page I just don't want to muck up this thread with a bunch of WIP shots.

that is one cool min

Hey Hazzer,

While I check in on the Great Marine Swap every day to see what you guys are up to I am kinda swamped at the moment and can't really commit to any trades..hell I still haven't finished Git's trade from the pics above..and that was six months ago!

I hope to put aside some time and models in the next year to do some GMS trades so if you are still watching at the time then we could so some trades.

Me too. That's a Chapterhouse pack btw. I really like the way he turned out but the paint job is rather crude compared with the stuff I'm doing now. I still like him, and he was about the best work I'd done at the time, but my blending has improved tremendously since then.
