monkeytroll: yeah, Murphy at his best... Ah well, when life gives you lemons BFTBG! . I love airbrushing the orange. It's relatively slow going because I'm still inexperienced, but oh-so smooth.

Supershandy: Pressure all the way uip seems to help . The original macharius solar orange was a foundation paint, so I'm not expecting that kind of coverage. Colour match is spot on though.


For today, a very minor update since I tried painting by daylight. let's just say results are mixed . I got glue again at least, so I can model something.



Pants will be redone, and I need to get the glass on the bottle done, paint a bunch of details.... I'm also going to add some flames to the cloth, I feel it would add to the model.

He may not be a big job, but he is beautiful. Love him.

Well, you could add flames and make it obvious that's a Molotov he's carrying.

Or....you could add a tiny squig on his back that he's giving a drink of shroom juice to.......

Well I’ve glued fingers together, but never tried glueing a gobble butt cheeks together, but if that’s your thing .

I think his pants look great as is, but flames would make him pop even more.

Still needs a certain je-ne-sais-quoi, probably more cables and weird grotty sciencey stuff, so will be working some more on it later. Gonna mess around with this some more, or maybe build a grot tank, or.. Well, we'll see, whatever grips my fancy , I've got no specific plans till the new codex hits

So, I got a temp fix for my painting light (tight on budget right now, thanks to social security thinking my wife's degenerative disease will suddenly get better if they yell at her loudly enough. ), which has allowed me to finish one of my funner projects: the doomchicken nob

Well now the orange and a confederate flag makes me hear the Dukes of Hazard theme song in my head.

Either way the painting is excellent and just the right amount of absurdity for a grot leader.

I think that doom chicken with the molotov cocktail grot is the best 40k thing I've ever seen! Lovin' it! Just noticed his hat, too -- hah!

For today, ladies and gentlemen, some more experimenting with the airbrush.I highlighted the mek guns and the scuttlerbomb with bubonic brown, then tossed flesh wash over them. I'll be judging in daylight if I like the gihlighting, it seems a lot more subtle then when drybrushed on. I might toss on an additional manual drybrush, we'll see. Of course, the drybrush picked out unevenness in the (manual) paint job), and these are pretty smooth, so the effect will be different anyhow. Still, I like the smoothness and more subtle highlighting. I might add some deeper shading manually though, but I'll let daylighht be the judge of that.

monkeytroll: that's exactly what I use it for. Not necessarily faster, mind you, but the instar orange is a b!tch ot put on by hand, and I could never get usch a nice and even coat, even with the old macharius solar orange. I'm guessing part of the problem is that I undercoat black; I really should experiment with working my way up from brown, but I have to admit I'm a creature of habit. Malifaux gremlins are brilliant, I agree. If I have some cash to spare, I just might

For piccies today, lots and lots of orange! I made a start on painting the bubblechucka, and almost got the orange to an acceptable level on the burnawagon. Took me two layers, will need a third on some parts. My dropper bottle split along the seam, so I'm having to improvise my paint consistency due to it drying out. Two coats were plenty on the other models, I'll be adding a third tonight and pouring some paint in other bottles I've got keep it from drying out.

Oh...so.....orangey. With hints of orange. And that bit of orange on the side.....sublime. Long live the Orange.

That's PARTICULARLY orange.

Orange has long been the best citrus fruit, but it really is coming into it’s own in the world of Orkney engineering .

I’m sure Belgium has a Walmart alternative where people parade around in their Sunday best .

For today, moar orange . Got the shadong done on the burnawagon, quite happy with it; it's got a nice amount of depth to it. It seems to use Reikland flesh wahs for fuel though, since I ran out all of a sudden. More will be need for the rest of the models, but I'm glad I got it to this stage. The basecoat was airbrushed, after that I went back to good old trusty drybrushing and washing. With a really big brush.







Next up is blacking all the detailing in, and adding metallics to the tracks and the piping.

Some 'almost' finished pics today, both need some touching up, but I'm going to be making a whole bunch of LARP props by myself due to people dropping out at the last moment AND a massive workload at the daytime jopb so iIlm glad I got this much in . Fir counts-as bomm-squig with paint on it, and an additional doomchicken still in need of a handler. Enjoy!





The eyes need to be blacked in on the doomchicken, and the scuttlerbomm needs some touch-ups here and there, but.. all in due time. If this thread falls silent for over two weeks, I've taken out my frustration on worthless teammates and killed them

Coh Magnussen: it's probably in there somewhere, but I'm not going to trawl through 50+ pages of thread, so here's how I do my bases: first, add sand, undercoat black. Drubrush grey, do rims in rhinox hide. Then, I use citadel flock in a flwoing pattern, adding big swathes of grass. After that, I add a few tufts of citadel scorched grass (but any kind of static flock or tufts will do), to add some height.
