It's a doom puppy! Love it, super cute. Merry and bright, and all that.

gobert: thanks! the doomchickens are my counts-as tankbustas so I'll be needing quite a few more.

inmygravenimage: Yeah, the big eye on the front adds to the cuteness factor- not bad for a counts-as bomm squig

So, with Christmas past us, time for some hobbying! I managed to sneak in some painting time here and there while tidying up the hobby room (long overdue, trust me on this) , resulting in some work on the scrapjet:

The dashboard is going to be a painting session by itself, but otherwise quite a straightforward model, if you leave off the tracks and wheels for painting. Well ddesigned too; I love the aesthetic of the new buggy - almost a first when it comes to greenskin vehicles .

gobert: all the powah! . The colour combo is one that really works well on most vehicles, and the orange allows for some nice weathering (except rust, that doesn't stand out well, sadly)

Not Online!!!: thanks, glad you like'em.

For my last mini of 2020, I managed to finish the scrapjet. Fun model, and it comes with it's own grot driver if you close up the little rear gun turret!

The grot can (barely) spot 2021, and is racing of to give it a good kickin'. My goal for 2021: don't drop in to the warp for half a year, and keep on modelling and painting consistently. I find it brings me great peace of mind, so I'll just have to push myself a bit and keep at it.

Best wishes all!

Congratulations on finishing your scrapjet I hope you succeed in your goal of consistently painting and modeling, since it's fun seeing what you post.

Great way to end the year, I have to admit first glance made it look like a custodes bike you had converted. Which would not have surprised me in the least. Have a happy New Year CK!

Hmmm... I think there is something wrong with it - I actually like it! Did you paint more (non orange) details on it than usual? Or is it just that the model has enough details to meet my stylistic leanings? I mean - I can see more details that I personally would have picked out (and I know is your preference not to) - but the large non orange wheels, tracks and exhausts along with the weapons and blue glyphs balance the orange a lot better - in my humble opinion of course .

Happy New Year. Looking forward to what 2021 brings. Happy to do my best to keep you engaged in the hobby.

Great finish to the year! The grot is so excited to have the snazzwagon that he’s not fussed about seeing where he’s going!

Syro_: thanks! I'm really aiming to be a bit more consistent this year. there's always reason not to, but I find fighting that feeling and actually getting things done is quite rewarding in itself.

inmygravenimage: thanks! Now, to keep it up in 2021

Yorkright: thanks for both the compliment and the idea you just gave me . I've taken a closer look at the custodes jetbikes, and they definitely have potential.I just need to maim the eagles on the front canopy and turn them into something useful

Arakasi: What? you like one of my models? With paint on it? My year's made already . Looking a bit further at the model and your comments, I believe I may have it pinned down: I used bigger blocks of colour which breaks up the orange a bit more: the bottom half is basically gunmetal and black, while the blue glyphs and the rokkits help create a diagonal line, partitioning the orange thay way as well. It's definitely something I'm going to take with me for other models I'll be painting, thanks for pointing that out! Please do keep me engaged, Gork knows I can use the support

gobert: Thanks! I see old ladies driving like that all the time too .

So, first off, let me start this post by wishing you all a might fun new year! I started 2021 off gently, rebasing some of my doomchickens, and giving my imperial guard some TLC as well - I want to up the basic infantry count to 120 (at 70 right now), and add some more artillery, so that'll be eating some hobby time otherwise spent on my grots.

I might sneak the odd pic in, but for now, let's stick to the little guys with the new and biggerized bases:

I actually like the 32 mm bases: they look better-sized for most of my contraptions.

This also means I have full, game-useful size of the little blighters with appropriate base-sizes: 10 + 2 bomm squigs

Enjoy the new year!

I feel that you need some more shiny silver in there so they're properly Irn Bru Orks!

Ha! Graven is right, they look to be made with Girders (see 90s Irn Bru adverts for poor joke reference)! They’re a great repurposing of Tau drones, and look spiffy on their new bigger bases

inmygravenimage: I actually had to look up Irn Bru, but I see what you mean. Maybe I'll add white/silver letters to some blue grafiti

Captain Brown: thanks!

gobert: thanks! I definitely prefer the bigger bases, looks more appropriate. I also believe the Tau drones (and battlesuits ) are a great basis to loot as a greenskin.

For today, some PIP pics of my wrexasaur. I've been messing around with the airbrush, and I believe I may have to switch my undercoat to something closer to brown in order to get a more vibrant orange. Anyway, opinions welcome as always

I'm still considering how I'm going to paint the rest of him, mainly thanks to my discussion with Arakasi a bit higher in the thread, where I came to conclusion that adding almost continuous areas of other colours makes more sense than just adding bits here and there. We'll see how it works out

Looking good! I’m with Arakasi on the bigger blocks of colour. As it’s quite a composite construct, maybe pick colours based on the source of the bits?

I love your beautiful orange contraptions no matter how little or how much contrast color you add to them. They are the definition of Grotty in my book. Grots don't think or paint like we do.....they paint better than me for sure. So, let there be diversity in their paining styles.
