Very quickly clipping walls from both sets together with mars attacks connector thingies they seem to work just fine. I'll have to get back to you yet in terms of tolerances for thickness and if a mixed square building would properly meet up and so on. Just tacking a couple of panels/bits together so far seems very doable though and I assume the other thing would work.

The MA tiles may be a bit thicker, like fortifications thicker than normal wall tiles, but maybe not as pronounced. Seem fairly compatible I'll try some more builds later.

@Carlos yes! They come with the giant stompy robot and are caused by his shrink ray. If he gets someone in game with it they get replaced by the tiny soldier (or just a token) and are then worth victory points if he can collect them

Tiny guys.......or REALLY BIG BUGS! Paint them up and no one will really know

Finally figured out the Martian language. They got to earth after a long time in space stuck in those environmental suits after stopping at the Martian equivalent of Taco Bell or White Castles. I'd be saying Ack Ack Ack ack too .

At maybe 1/3 of a 28mm human... I'm thinking maybe even 10mm. Maybe I measure later.

Indeed! I'm very pleased with my Mars Attacks! goodies

I've gone ahead and assembled the trucks, I'll probably work out little magnets to swap out the light bars and machineguns, though I do kind of plan to theme the trucks up a bit regardless of keeping them modular. I want one to match my corporation/human troopers, one I'm going to do a bit more like my Dad's work truck (though it doesn't actually have a machine gun OR light bars ), and the other maybe as a tow truck for fun. I figure all could be commandeered by the military and or survivors in a pinch.

I really like these kits. Super duper easy to assemble, lots of pegs and slots and such so you can't line things up improperly. Getting the wheels on there can be a bit finicky but what can you do? I know some folks have complained that the wheels won't roll once assembled, but I figure models are more or less meant to be static once finished (sans articulated/magnetized bits, those are too fun to ignore!) and don't mind. I think these remind me a bit more of a Tamiya or other tank model kit than a GW kit, but they assemble quick and easy. They seem to be a good scale and I'm glad to have them.

Now just to figure out how to paint the bloody windows =/

I think the saucer is basically good to go out of the bag, just have to put the weapons in, which likely means magnet mounts. With options for 3 pilots I'll probably work out a way to hold the dome down with bluetack that's hopefully hidden.

Yeah, its not quite one of everything, I never get the shirts and stuff, but its most of it, and a few things with spares

Wow magnetizing with ball bearings...

I need to get some ball bearings STAT.

Hmm they used 3/16 for the shoulder but I think I use 3mm/1.5mm which is more like the 1/8 they use for the neck. It's a terminator though. Wonder... I bet 1/8 would be fine to match with 3mm and especially for enforcers who are smaller of shoulder than marines... Might have to put in an order!

Ooh I've also seen a hairspray rust method that doesn't use salt for the chipping, just water. Color me intrigued

My brain read that video title screen as "Magnet your mini balls".

I am impressed with the BSR/Truck and saucer but have seen some close up shots of the Mars Attacks minis that make me dubious as to the materials suitability for anything but board game miniatures.

As an aside how easy would it be to remove the windows on the truck and then replace them with some sort of perspex?

Well the front and two sides are all separate pieces so probably not terribly hard? There wouldn't be any seats or consoles or other interior features though.

What don't you like about the minis up close? A few of the human heroes have soft features but the martians, tiger corps and bounty hunters, and most of the rest of it is pretty solid. Up there with restic at the least if not as fine as resin or CB infinity quality metals.

Also.. had to order those bearings, gonna have to use them on the HP enforcers probably. And maybe space marines if I go that route.

Magnetized the big stompy robot and saucer, pilot's magnet was still drying:

Just standard flat/disk magnets, one in each shoulder and in the torso. He can turn side to side and move his shoulders all the way around. The elbows just have a bit of blue-tack in them to allow poseability for the various arm attachments.

Smaller magnet under the pilot's area, same for the saucer.

Saucer has two more on the underside for the gun options.

May not magnetize all saucers as there are only two options and the world-war book has a reduced points option to take one of each. Plus magnets are neat but meh, easier to lose pieces.

Got in a game of Mars Attacks! Copying the text from the other thread:

I had a buddy stop by today and we played a game of Mars Attacks! It was really fun. The pace was quicker than deadzone with fewer actions to choose from and less counters and things to track. Things were going pretty well until we drew a total of maybe 8 event cards between us over a couple of rounds... There were civilians running scared all over the table, flaming cattle trampling human soldiers, giant robot launched cars crushing poor unsuspecting martian grunts, more than one giant bug hunting for lunch...

After the dust cleared I was down to two grunts against five human soldiers, tied with 2 victory points to go. I activated a freeze ray support card to stun a human soldier and ordered one of my grunts to go club him like a baby seal, and snagged two VPs for the melee kill for a win.

All in all a very chaotic and comical game, definitely going to try to share this with as many people as possible and I can't wait to get through all of the extra scenarios in the upcoming supplements.

Sounds like a fun game. I must admit I kind of dismissed it as I'm not familliar with the comics/movies/whatever it's based on, but if it plays like a faster Deadzone I may have to look into the rules at least.

And who doesn't want one of those awesome Robots?

@Grim I think it was a picture of the Martian Dredd that put me off, but then again the red plastic does seem to either be less detailed than the biege or perhaps just does not photograph well.

Weird choice to have a coloured plastic flying stem on the saucer. Still looks great though. Do the saucer and BSR come already assembled?

I think the red photographs poorly. I haven't painted any of the red plastic martians yet, once I do i'll see about a side-by-side with the other colors.

I think the silver stem is because that's what color the rest of the martian plastic vehicles came in, probably cost more/too much to go with a clear one. My guess.

Saucer is done except for pilot, guns, antennae(which i consider highly optional) and it's not on the flying base obviously.

Robot comes as a torso, waist/hips, 2 legs, 2 shoulders, 4 weapon pieces. Legs, torso, possibly parts of the arms came in two pieces but have been assembled for you.

Since I haven't got anything else cool to share here until I get the diorama done, here's a potentially finished Oniwaban:

In situ.

What do you guys think? Solid enough to leave it there or should I change some stuff? The green parts were last minute additions as the model seems a tad bland and it just doesn't seem like infinity without some glowy little lights.

Should I dip it? I'm leaning towards 'no' since I don't need the extra protection.

PS the birthday is today so deadline FAILED. I was operating under false assumptions of the date I'll just have to bust it out and IOU today lol.

Looks good, the only thing I'm not sure about is the white, almost looks like you missed those bits, but I think once you et the base done so you can't tell it was primed white, that will go away. I think the glow may be a little strong, but that's largely preference.

Hmm yeah, well he is getting glued straight to the scenic base which will be some kind of tan/orange sand, so hopefully that will dispel the not-done-ness you are seeing.

The glows may be a little harsh. Especially since it's a day scene. Not to hard to tone them down though.

The glowing on his chest and forehead seem a little too bright, but otherwise I think he turned out really nice. I like the contrast between the white and the red. If I ever get an Oniwaban, I may have to steal this scheme since it looks really good. Much better than the usual green/black scheme people use.

Thanks I kind of want to get some JSA models for my own after doing this, I think that scheme may work for some of their units.

I may tone down the glows a bit, should be pretty simple at this point.

It's about time to get back to painting flowers on Mushashi's clothes. May put up an image later as I'm not sure what to do with the lightest parts of the robe... either change color from white or give them a black outline but that may be more than my brush control can handle.

So... I'm trying here, my free hand abilities are pretty lame, it looks the best on the back right, though the front is where you'll see it from the front of the diorama. Seeing the picture I probably need to go back and hit some of the lines and dots again to make them more solid. It's far from perfect, but I may go with it for now.

Gotta do the armor next, and the face. I dunno why they had to have a mold line on the face... I'm gonna have to make it look like a scar or something.

I have or had the smallest micron they seem to make
0.20 mm line width. I'm not sure it would draw that small, the lines are almost as small as I can do with a brush.

Maybe I should have done black dots and then put white inside them.

Like these bad boys. I swear, they are a godsend for those small details.
