I was running low on a choice of asembled and undercoated minis to choose from so I did some more - militia, orlocks, chaos squats - a squat heavy with a D-gun? or is it plasma? And of course the atv - which I'm going to add the other riders to later for ease of painting

The latest batch of primed minis has some nice figs in it. It's good to see the ATV finally getting some love too.

Is that a mold line underneath that big Squat gun?

Got to the eBay link only to see an E.E. Doc Smith book for sale for 80p, are you nuts, you could get a tenner for that on Amazon!
How much to ship out here to the colonies? (I'm looking at the librarian and kind of drooling a little)

It is! It is a mold line!

You should fix that

I promises to fix it before painting!

Vitamin K - I rekon an extra one pound ought to do it. I don't know about amazon.com, but on amazon.co.uk they are dirt cheap unless they are first edition or mint condition.

You go ahead and buy stuff and I will try and be scrupulously fair - I will weigh your purchases and figure out the difference for the US.

Can do momentarily - in the mean time can anyone recommend a site where I can buy separate weapons cheap that resemble stub pistols, auto pistols and maybe even laspistols - I'm running out of pistols basically.

Mostly, on my phone.

Looks like a rt conversion Beamer, v similar to a current plasma cannon but different cabling/sides.

They look cheap and acceptable quality too. Thanks - its all to think about - just remebered hastlefree miniatures - but I think their sculpting is a little lax.

Here is wip on my sniper - he needs a few more washes and a highlight here and there. He is 1980s RT all over except his lasgun - which is 21st century necromunda

I got really sick one year and stayed in bed for weeks, my dear departed grandmother bought me over the entire Doc Smith back catalogue and most of Asimov's and now they're as rare as hens teeth (Doc Smith that is)!!

Love seeing all of these kooky RT minis, I'll have to see if I can find my plasma pistol armed IG beastman, I know it is in mums attic somewhere...

When I click on the link it is at the very top of the list - "skylark duquesne" If you can't see it still then I am mystified.

My first sci -fi was some weird stuff bout a girl living alone on a planet with an android - then settlers come and they think she is a freak - she realises then that she was genetically modified by her father to be better adapted to the oxygen poor radioactive high-lands and that the other humans dont have blue skin and cant leave the valley where they landed, eventually the humans deliberately regress to simple technology and superstition until their children rebel and seek out the blue skinned girl and the android to ask them how to contact earth. - And I haven't the foggiest what it was called - can anyone remember?

I love a bit of asimov, julian may is great, alan dean foster and arthur C. Clarke are good. But my favourite will always be Iain M Banks

Are you familiar with CJ Cherryh? Greatest female scifi writer; a classics teacher, she wrote future history that reads like Roman literature. Extraordinary.

No I haven't, I will have to look her up - My fav female sci-fi writer is Ursula le Guin - who is famous for her fantasy "Earthsea" saga, but atually did a crap load of visionary sci-fi - really fascinating stuff. Actually wait a minute, julian may is a woman... Now I'm torn between them. Sod it they are both great.

Indeed - though I'd go for Le Guin. But you love Banks, and Cherryh's a major influence on him. It's hard sci-fi, with very convincing non-humans. Also, they don't need to be read in sequence: as she says, you can read history in any order. However, the best place to start - if you can get a copy - is Downbelow Station, as it establishes, oh, everything.

funnyly i can click on yer profile of ebay and then it is given as top of the list...but in the list itself it is not shown... only bram strokers is first...????

CJ cherryh i have seen lots of times but back in my younger days i wasn´t inclined to tackle such big books then...but i understand that this is top shelf SiFi stuff... one day i will get to her books as well...

and to vitamin K ...fond memories? hmmm... i had the first three books , enjoyed the read but under now forgotten circumstances i lost all books... cant recall why... and sadly i can´t get a hold of them anymore...
