No idea what the trees are made of, they came from multiple sources.

You can buy strands of colored plastic that looks like hay or grass from Woodland Scenics (big model railroad supplier). I just cut them in half, covered the disc with Elmers glue and mashed the strands down. Added some model leaves (actually some kind of seed that looks like a sasafrass or maple leaf) to help with the gaps in hay. Let it dry, then sprayed the living heck out of it with dull coat. Trimmed it up as much as I could so it was less likely the hay would get hung up and things and pull away from the disc. It's still not really stable... but should last for the tournament with no problem.

Making some progress. Going slower than before owing to being sick.

Have a shot of a new terrain piece (clump of birch) and some vanity shots of models on the various boards. I'd eventually like to get some striations onto the birch bark but that'll have to wait.

Pic of the newly finished farm board.

Thank you gentlemen.

And now for something completely different.. two inches to the left, of a horse's naughty bits.

Well, maybe not. But I do have some airbrush work to show you.

Paper lantern objectives.

Crystals for the lava board. There's a lot more to be done here, but this will do for Adepticon. Quick & dirty.

Said lava board, finished!

Only 1 more board to go. I'll get that one started soon.

Wonderful work as always. It is nice to see you still kicking here. Just starting to get back here after so many years. Got a few projects I want to start again. I will be watching here, you have always been an inspiration.

Keep them rolling out.

@Ramos: Thank you my friend. They've been very well received by the Bushido community judging to the response I've gotten on the FB pages. I think it's rare that people put that much effort into the boards they play on. It was a fun little project... it's been months since I'd had an airbrush out and the last time out I had real problems getting it to run properly. So I took the time to give it a proper cleaning and reminded myself how to use it. I still think I was pretty clumsy with it... but all-in-all I think they turned out OK. They'll look much better when I get the edge highlighting done... Maybe a bit of hand painted deep shadows on the crystal faces as well. That will have to wait until later though.

@Sageheart: Really nice to hear from you Sageheart. So glad you stopped by and am delighted to hear that your hobby interest is coming back. Feel free to drop by anytime & if you start posting again & I don't respond... feel free to give me a PM jog in the elbow.

Thanks Dr H. Perhaps a bit too white... they're only candle powered after all. I can fiddle with it later I guess.

Posted a short video previewing the boards I've been working on. Nothing new really, but perhaps a bit more interesting than static photos.

New stuff...

Quick and dirty "Ancestral Ghost" for Thing 2... Looks horrid here with the lighting but it looks just fine in-hand.

Some sake jars and a rice jar. These are really small... but Thing 1 did at least, recognize what the kanji was supposed to be ("sake").

Got a bunch of grain baskets done to use as scatter terrain. (Thank God for my airbrush.)

Lastly a new figure for my army. Looks like a Skeksis with wings!

I'll get a better pic of him later, but at least you know what I've been up to.

I like how your idea of quick and dirty is my idea of perfect glow. Also, that's a fine High Chancellor there essence of Gits-ling...

It's hard to see because of the way I've painted him (black) and the poor quality photo, but if you look closely at his head design they really nailed it.

Thank you both very much!

I'll tell ya how my day is going. I couldn't sleep last night so I got up in the wee hours and thought I'd put my time to good use building my last two Tengu models. The first guy was a spear man with arms that are really fiddly to put on. I dropped the spear arm, and spent the next hour-and-a-half tearing the floor of my studio apart trying to find it... no luck.

I did however, get a battle report edited and uploaded. Trying out the new mic I got from my sweetie for Christmas. I like it! Makes the background noise at the gaming store much less prominent and makes my voice sound more "normal". Enjoy!

This should be one of the last Bushido-New Dawn battle reports I do. After Adepticon I'll be moving on to the new rule set. However... I may sneak in one or two more if I can manage it.

Here, the Tengu led by their mighty samurai Hokibo struggle with Gok and his minions in the conifer shrouded forests of the northernmost of the Jwar Isles. They battle over the only clearing in the dense forest large enough to serve as a proper aviary for the Tengu. Out of a nearby ancient burial ground, the Cult creeps forward to deny the Tengu their foothold on this rich and beautiful land!

I think if I ever start building a cult of Yurei or Silvermoon Syndicate faction I’ll need to buy those shops and bunches of the yutei stalls and do a dark city street with back alleys.... and a sumo wrestling ring (I already printed out details on Howe to make the ring ).

Nice work on the buildings.

Well if I can get the funds for next years adepticon together and finish it in time I’ll bring it.

One caveat though. If I can get it done and show up to adepticon then I’m renting Sumo suit (costumes) for whoever plays at that table to wear as they play . I would not need the suit as I am a natural born sumo wrestler, just too hairy.

Need a barber to shave Theo!

Buildings are cool. Going to have to get my head around some of these Kanji. Fancy making some of this type of terrain.

Loving all of that terrain. the boards are great, but I adore the objective marker sets. The detail is great on both the stone and the lanterns.

I would love to start playing a game based in that era. I wanted to love Test of Honour, but couldn't quite. Bushido is just slightly too fantastical rather than historical for me.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Would love to see you there Theo. Assuming this year isn't a disaster, I'll be running a Bushido tournament again next year... hopefully at a little better time during the week (earlier). Perhaps we'll have to get two of the inflatable sumo suits and have ties decided by wrestling matches!

The basic kanji should be easily available (with translations) on-line. I'd love to see you take a whack at some of this stuff. Based on the job you did on the pirate ship, I think you'd be fantastic!

Have you looked at "Kensai"? It's historical and might be more to your liking. Most of the buildings I buy are for Kensai and/or Test of Honor.

As always, thanks for your support gang. Have a couple of video battle reports to do, that water wheel mill to paint... maybe start working on my Oni now that I have a mighty 8 of them!
