Yeah... a little different than the standard red. We'll see where it goes. I'll finish up that little guy with the club tonight which will give me a better idea of where I'm going with the war band.
Also a few images from my last game with Thing 1.

Large sumo suits are hilariously good fun for a wrestling match. You will spend most of the time racing to be the first to stand up again so you can jump on the other.

Thing 2 painting a "Samurai Jack" Bushido character. The clock on the base was his idea (due to the time travel theme of the character / Jack's quest).
Working on a couple of extra buildings in case they're needed for the boards that other people are bringing. This is still WIP.

Hadn’t seen the watermill done up with close ups, thanks. I’m still thinking if I should get that set or not. I only need 1-2 boards for myself, so I don’t need the variety you have, but I still think it’s an awesome piece.

Honestly Theo, I didn't buy any of the buildings thinking that I had boards to fill, I just bought them because I thought they were cool and I like variety when I play.
My favorite buildings so far are the temple bell, hand washing station, the shops and this mill... though I won't know for certain until I finish it. I also love the little thatch roofed houses that I didn't have to paint at all. Victory for Zim! Wait... I think I just named all of my buildings... Oh well.

Had a fun game with my friend Tyler last night as we hashed out the board thing. Turns out I'm going to be one board short, but I think I can cover that with a minimum of fuss. We tested one of the new boards he just made along with a bunch of winter trees that I provided for cover. Here's a few pics from our game. These are just phone pics so please excuse the quality.
Here's the table. Not bad, though I just came up with an easy idea for providing some low cover (rather than just tall trees). Time for a walk in the woods... The table itself is beautifully done by Tyler.
My Tengu arrayed for battle. I was trying to come up with a fun list in case I have to fight the byes... This is an archery list that Thing 1 suggested. 4/6 of the army have some kind of ranged attack. Added are one minor spearman and a healer.
Tyler's Temple of RoKan. Including Kung-fu Panda (not named Po) and another master monk who IS named Po. Go figure.
The battle is joined early in the center where the panda bites it to a combination of small-arms fire and a massive spear thrust from "my bird".... Zenkibo. Probably the best 6 points I will ever spend in this game... he just constantly outperforms his point value. The panda used to be in that big gap a little up and to the left of my figures.
Awkward looking lady monk... but a nice paint job.
She would go on to engage my big samurai bird in combat, which effectively kept him out of the battle as he's no-where near as good a close combat combatant as he is an archer. Then she made the mistake of disengaging.... at which point my archer shot her through with a small tree branch and she died. I think this was Tyler's only real mistake during the game.
After eliminating KFP, everyone in the center gangs up on the monk to the left, killing him.
Not to be out done, Master Po (right) walks through two of my models (Zenkibo and Torobo) like they aren't even there... and my magic user in the robe (Sanjukubo) runs towards a different objective in an attempt to avoid certain destruction.
Master Po gloats... just a bit.
My shugenja, Sanjukubo, prepares to face down a little kami.
Here's where we were when we had to call the game due to store closing. I had earned the first of 3 victory points, am challenging the objective on the left, own the objective on the right and can harass his models in the center with ranged attacks. His big monk Po is very dangerous... but we both agree that the advantage is mine.
The end result was a fun game and a good run for the archery list. I'd need to get another figure to really do it... replacing Zenkibo with a "Scout of the Blue Gale" which is an archer of the same point value. Still, it was an interesting go. This is probably a more powerful list than I want to take to do byes with... so I'll make some changes suggested by Tyler & I should be all set.

I decided I needed some cover that wasn't also line-of-sight blocking or impassible, so I walked out into my yard and asked mother nature to contribute. She did most admirably.
I also discovered that I was going to be one board short... so I'm making a snow board. Might as well go back to she-what-brought-me... thus some snow-covered logs.
Here's the whole thing. I might tweak it a little bit but I'm kind of out of materials and ideas. I still need to make a set of 3 small objectives for it. Think I might just have come up with an idea...

That mill's not going to do much on that paved road.
Good job.
And nice work on the wooden scatter pieces.

Yeah, for the first time I actually tried putting a traditional pattern on a piece of cloth. I like it. It's very crude when compared to the real thing, but it gets the idea across well enough.

Did some painting last night. First, painted up some produce from Oshiro Model Terrain. These will augment my "market" themed table. Have a number of other like-themed things I'll be working on today... baskets, bins and such... but the produce is my favorite.
Also working on the next Onisho... Boba. He's throwing gremlin skulls. Adding the little gorinto was my idea... fits perfectly in his outstretched hand. Should have him finished up later today. Give the basing a second try, though I think I solved one problem by ringing the base before I actually add the grass. This should make everything look a bit more tidy.
Anvildude: "Honestly, it's kinda refreshing to see an Ork vehicle that doesn't look like a rainbow threw up on it."
I like the basing, but perhaps some flowers for the Oni to tip toe through. I vote purple/blue.

I rather like him, but I agree the base needs something else. How about a mystical beast skull, one with tusks and horns (you say boba, I can't help but think fett... )

New video is up on my YouTube channel. A "Hobby Time" video on how to make fallen log terrain.
Did a fair amount of work this weekend. Painted a ton of scatter terrain from Oshiro Modelterrain (I think it's time for another scatter terrain video). Worked on Zuba (first real Oni to be painted), did the above video and even made my first attempt at making mushrooms. They will go on the logs featured in the video above. Also turned a wooden lantern into a 50mm objective. Will make one more of these for a nicely completed set!
Unfortunately the parts of Zuba that I've been working on are completely covered by the wall!

Good work on Boba and the progress on new things and 'shrooms.
Vid' already added to the list... that I'm currently struggling to keep under 200...
