In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

Don't ignore the deal you get with the necron battleforce, 3 destroyers and either 20 or 28 warriors (depending how old the box is...)

Actually, I'm looking around a bit and the Cryx battlegroup box isn't a bad price and a full battleforce of Necron isn't too bad either. Leaves plenty of bits to work with on future 'Cron related projects.

I think I ended up getting four of the Necron Battleforces when I was building my army, and that was After I already had most of the Necron Warriors I wanted to field, so that's why I have So Many extra Warriors to be able to chop them up for my Cryx.

Third Seether's all built except for his chains. I'll do those up tomorrow after the shoulders have had a chance to fully set up and to give me a chance to make sure I don't change my mind on the position of his arms.

And another pair of Bone Turkeys, Ripjaws this time. Did one standing, surveying the area, and the other in a sprint. I rebuilt one of the legs on the sprinting one so I could have it turning/leaning in the opposite direction as the previous Boneripper/Defiler. Should probably have all five Bone Turkeys painted up tomorrow baring distractions and the Seether done before the end of the day Saturday.

Ran out of chain on the first hand, going to have to head up to Micheal's to get some more, but I figured I'd throw up a shot of the first hand finished.

Very nice. Now, do you plan on just using them as Warmachine units or as 40k Crons as well? If you already answered this sorry I missed it.

It's purely Warmachine. I might be tempted to throw the Bane Knights into a game of Warhammer as Pariahs if Pariahs didn't suck, but otherwise the vast majority of it right now just wouldn't work for what's in the Necron book.

Not gonna get the Bone Turkey flock completely done tonight it looks like. They're completely painted (for now) and I started work on replacing their chimneys with the green rods, but it seems the plastic material is both a blessing and a curse. It's not much bigger around the the rods, so I have to be very careful with the drill, and on the first two I've already had three spots that will have to be repaired with green stuff, and that will have to sit overnight to set up before I can touch the paint jobs back up. Should have these and the Seether all wrapped up tomorrow.

Oh, and as my Cryx forces have grown, and I've expanded beyond the pure Necronized units and gotten some organics in there, I've decided to paint up the skulls on the Bone Turkeys in bone, rather than metal. Simple Bleached Bone with a Devlan Mud wash.

It's not so much that I work fast, it's that I'm a jobless bum and have little else to do during the day. I do also do really simple paint jobs that consist of 90% drybrushing or washes. No highlights or blending or none of that fancy stuff. That said...

Got as much done as I'm going to today. Picked up more chain and got Seether Agro's other hand wrapped. I couldn't find the same chain I had before, but this is probably 97% the same size/shape of chain, I think I got more of it for cheaper, and since it's going to get painted anyways, the color is irrelevant. Get him painted up real quick like tomorrow, and I can start working on a friend's Carnivian I'm supposed to be converting into a Scythian.

Chimney stacks are all glued in place on the Bone Turkey flock. Patched the spots I needed to with green stuff. I'll let that set overnight, and touch up the paint jobs on the chimney caps tomorrow. Paint the bases black, paint the front arcs Regal Blue, and Bob's your uncle.

Another thing that's bugged me was the Cryx Helljack head that Seether Macbeth was holding. It was always intended as more of a trophy/latest victim which is why it was painted black and not in my colors, but the Corrupter is such an obscure `Jack that nearly no one uses, so nearly no one can recognize the head. Was able to nab a head from a Cygnar `Jack, painted it up in typical Cygnar colors, added some dangling wires this time, and I think it should be far more obvious what he's got there.

Alright, they're all finished up, sans flock which I'll get done when I'm at the FLGS on Wednesday. Next project for the time being is a friend's Legion stuff which will probably get a mini blog over in the normal Modeling topic.

So I'm working on my Warwitch Deneghra fig now. I want to have her unmasked, standing with hair blowing in the wind and looking hawt. Decided I would take a crack at sculpting her new face, on my philosophy that you'll never get better at something unless you try to do stuff you "can't" do. I borrowed a friend's eKaya fig to use as an in hand reference because I've really loved her face ever since I saw The eKaya Fig Roleplayer Painted.

Worked on that teeny tiny blob of green stuff for over an hour, poking and prodding, finding the techniques that worked to get it the shape how I wanted it. Whenever I thought it was good and finished, I would take a picture, and then see it blown up some 400% on my computer, spot some itty bitty flaw, and go back to fix that. Did that over half a dozen times until I've finally made myself stop. It's probably about as good as I'm going to get it, and looks Nearly perfect To Me in hand, though of course I still look at that zoomed in picture and see the itty bitty flaws, but I have to tell myself to put it down, there's Always going to be an itty bitty flaw, and you can't fix them all.

I'll work on her hair tomorrow, but first a question. Should I have her holding her mask in hand, or have a hand up to her face holding her hair back to keep it from blowing into her eyes?

I was looking at the helmet, and the head I made is a bit larger than the original, so if I had her holding it, it wouldn't look like it could fit on her head, so I'm going with a holding back the hair pose, which means I need to get the hand in there first, so here that is.

The spot that looks bad around the eye is where I cleaned a bit off with the knife after it was set, and that's the color/effect you get on green stuff if you cut it or file it after it's set. It's not nearly as bad as it appears in the photo, which doesn't seem to want to pick up on the detail that's still there.

Just like the face, I kept poking the hair until I decided it was good enough. It will be interesting to see how well some of the thinner strands hold up after it sets. Now I needs to work on building her a new spear and a hand to hold it.

Think I'm gonna call her done, sans painting of course. Going to get the standard gold armor of my army of course, then give her a nice pale, but not her usually pictured grey, skin tone. My first instinct is to paint her as a blond, as that was the hair color of my reference I sculpted her hair off of, but I need to go look up Hailey's hair color, since they're twins and all, and use that. Once painted, there's going to be a short short piece of green rod at the butt of the spear to attach the end cap spike on, and I'm going to see about making a little bead of green plastic to fit into the hole in the head of the spear.

Depressing to learn fact about Privateer Press. Not only do they tend to have less poses for their metal models than GW's, cutting down on variety within a unit, but apparently they limit the selection even further in their blisters, only giving you the same two poses (and second weapon arms) in every one. Not only that, but the distributor sent the FLGS one less blister than I ordered, leaving me two trolls short of my two full units I need for my Tier 4 50pt Venethrax Theme Force. Hopefully those come in this coming week so I can get the units filled up before Warmachine Weekend next week, though they come in Wednesday and we're leaving Thursday afternoon/evening so I'll have to work quick to get them remodeled, built, painted and based for use. Thankfully it'll only be two I'll have to do, and with the practice from the previous 19 trolls I should have it down pat.

Anyways, here are the current set of six trolls I'm working on. Swapped out nearly every weapon, due to them all having the same four. Used a bunch more Ork Choppas, even throwing in a couple of Chainaxes because they amuse me, then added in some Beastmen weapons for more variety. I'll have to dig around and see what else I've got, maybe some Chaos weapons or more Beastmen weapons for the last pair. Probably have these primed tonight/tomorrow and then painted up before the end of the day Monday.

Got Denny all painted up and finished with the exception of basing. I put in more effort on the paint job for her skin and hair, trying my hands at successive layers and shades of highlighting, which I think came out pretty good. With the extreme close up you can see I still need more practice at painting the teeny tiny eyeballs though. It occurred to me while I was painting her back that I didn't give her a Necron spine. Not sure how I feel about that missing detail. I don't want to go back and add to this one, as that could start to mess with where I did the hair, but it's something to try and keep in mind if I end up redoing her later.

Somewhat random offering. A post on the PP forums inspired me to get a picture of my tokens up. The glass beads are Focus. The skulls are Souls. The larger circles beneath Gaspy are my spell tokens, in this case Parasite, Hellbound and Shadowmancer. Small circles are for Corruption. The two flames are for Fire. Moon's usually used for `Jacks Possessed by Machine Wraiths, and the cloud tends to get used for Black Oil, but those are more random and are otherwise used for whatever need is at hand.

Once you get your trolls painted it would be great to see a new to see a full army pic again.

BTW, I find your models a good example of a strikingly painted, yet done with fairly basic techniqes. We all dont need to be masters of highlighting or layering to turn out fairly spectacular armies.

I probably won't do full army pics again because it was a pain to set that much stuff up, and I did not like the lack of good focus in the picture. What's more likely, and what I already tentatively planned to do is shots of the 50pt armies I play normally.

Another batch of six Bloodgorgers done. Without a Leader around to keep them in check, this group has a tendency to break into synchronized dance ensembles. Only two more to give me my full 21 Bloodgorgers. Hopefully they come in tomorrow at the FLGS, and then I'll have the oh so fun task of trying to get them cleaned, converted, built, painted and based all in a single afternoon/evening because I leave for Warmachine Weekend on Thursday.
