Those last two trolls came in alright yesterday, and I got them all painted up and the whole lot flocked and ready to go. Leaving here right shortly for Warmachine Weekend, but when I get back on Monday I'll start putting together some army shots. Not entire collection mind you, just shots of actual armies I put on the table.

Had a blast at Warmachine Weekend over the, well, weekend. Only came close to winning one event, but got too caught up in the stress of it, didn't see a spell token next to one of his guys, and blew the whole thing. Overall though I won 15 games of various sizes and list requirements, and lost somewhere around 8, so I think I did alright considering the level of competition there.

I had a super fun time in the end, met people I only knew from forums, even if I couldn't keep them all straight because no one went By their forum names. My army got a bunch of attention. Bunch of people telling me it looks cool online, and a lot cooler in person spread out across a table. Makes a lot of sense given I'm a fairly sloppy painter, and that fact is far more obvious when you look at a blown up photo of a fix many times larger than the actual fig is in real life.

While I didn't win any events, I did acquire a large list of completed achievements (win a game, lose a game, let your opponent pick your list in a tournament, end game with a jack in opponent's deployment zone, kill Only their caster, ect). Came in with 23 achievements, and the person who had the most had 28. Translates into 5 raffle tickets, which won me two VERY nice sets of terrain from Game Fusion Studio for the FLGS. Got a shot of it all on my phone.

Harrower, mostly finished. Carved out the spots where the legs are supposed to attach to make room for the entire Tomb Spyder leg pairs, rather than just sticking the legs themselves on. Gives it more structural support and well as cohesive look. Messed around with an old Destroyer chassis I had from an old unfinished conversion. Fits into place really well so long as you don't flip the thing upside down and look under it's skirt.

Drilled out the gun to fit a large green rod inside it. I want to do more with the rod than just stick it in like it is in the picture, but I haven't fully decided what to do with it yet. Might just dremel it down where the top half of the gun ends in a slope to the bottom end. I've never cared for the look of the Harrower's claw, but I did not want to change it out for something else because of how similar it is to the Tomb Spyder's claw. I ended up curving the claw tips inwards a little bit, bent the top two to sit closer together, and shortened the bottom on a fair bit to give it more of a thumb appearance, and I think the claw looks a lot better now IMHO.

Tomb Spyder head, using three pins to hold it in place and give it's neck the appearance of a series of pistons. Cocked the head at an angle to give it something of a robot/insect feel to it.

Just need to put some more glue on a few of the joints to better reinforce them, paint it up, then do the green plastic. He's a Soul Taker so he's going to get some soul effects around his engine similar to Malice.

Looks goods and quite different from your other jacks, which is fitting because the spider jacks have always felt like a different breed than the bipedal ones.

And my first Stalker. Not super converted/posed on this one. I'm going to be doing three more of these so I figured I'd do the first one fairly simply just to get a feel for the model. Going to have to bitz order more of those Bone Chicken legs.

Also a couple more shots of the Harrower, to show off his neck better as well as the fine tuning of the green rod for his gun. Had to reangle his arms a bit also when I realized he was too splayed out to have any hope of fitting in my bag.

Lookin good! The only thing that bothers me is the complete lack of necron detail on the stalker...

He's going to get the green rod smoke stacks, but otherwise my current flock of Bone Turkeys don't have any Necron specific detailing either, nor any of my 21 Bloodgorgers. They just don't have anything suitable to be replaced or details that need to be added on, and I'm not wanting to force the issue such as it were. Unless of course you have some suggestions or ideas, those are always welcome.

I could probably come up with something if I tried but the smokestacks will suffice.

Finally got around to painting up the Harrower. Nothing super fancy, as is my usual, but I did use some gem techniques to paint the eyes up nicer, and messed with some green ink on the souls to better help show off their bit of details.

In the mean time, I've got Stalkers 2 and 3, though I don't have their legs yet. Plus a box of Nyss Hunters, one of the most notorious units to try and put together. We'll see how I do.

Bah, the reputation Nyss Hunters have for being a horrible unit to assemble is vastly overblown if you ask me. A couple parts were a bit fiddly, namely the swords they're holding, but years of experience trying to get GW's guns with molded on hands to line up with their corresponding arms have prepared me for that. I drilled out their neck holes to fit the larger nobs on the Dark Eldar heads, which look MUCH better than the heads they come with. Moved their scabbards from their backs to their hips to be more Samurai-like. Turns out I also put the scabbards on upside down, but I think it looks better/makes more sense for the larger end to be the opening. I thought about leaving the quivers off, just so there's less clutter, but I decided to go ahead and put them on, and I think they look alright for it.

I want to add some green stuff straps down to their scabbards so they're hanging from their belts, rather than just stuck on some random point on their thighs/hips. As well put a little bit of green stuff around the necks to better fill the slight gaps there. Green stuff won't get done today because I want to use them at the FLGS tonight and it wouldn't be set in time.

Here's my attempt to photograph the green stuff gap filling and belt straps. The Cylena's scabbard already happened to be glued right onto a belt she's wearing, so that works out well as she's not wearing the same belts the other guys are, so no green stuff strap on her.

As the lack of updates to my `Nids Blog may indicate, my interest in them is waning a bit at the moment, and that leaves room for more Cryx stuff to come back and fill the void. First up in the Necryx resurrection is Goreshade The Cursed, still very WIP.

Spent today working on Goreshade's base. Had put a blob of green stuff onto a base last night. Shoved an extra random piece of dried stuff I had laying around just to help fill out some mass.

Decided it was too close to the edges of the base for what I wanted to do, and carved out a few key alcoves and then put another blob of green stuff onto the top to better build up the shape.

Bit more alcove refining, then filled them up with skulls from the Dark Eldar vehicle kits.

Sculpted in some roots and rocks and general bit of detail. Base is still missing one key detail, but that one will pretty much be a project all on it's own compared to the rest of the fig.

Shot of Goreshade posing on the base for a sense of scale and scene.

Continued awesomeness... can't wait to see what you do with the base! Be careful though, that wire will be a bit thick on the wrists and ankles!

Very impressive conversions. You give a great perspective on the necrons and breath life into them in a way that GW has not yet been able too. Very inspiring

Yeah, you're right. Holding it next to the Deathwalker fig, the brass rod was probably too thick for the arms, much less the wrists. Replaced the arm wire with guitar wire. Didn't replace the leg wire, but I did shorten it a little bit. Shouldn't really need the wire to support on the legs/feet as much since they're already resting on the ground. I think I'm going to enjoy sculpting this fig more than when I did my Great Unclean One, or at least the research into the proper shape and form.

Alright, here's how far I've gotten on her. I think she's not horrible, but I don't think she's good enough. I'm going to consider this attempt practice, tear her off and start over. Won't have time to work on it tomorrow at all, and I want to start testing out The Cursed One on Wednesday's game night, so won't mess with trying to sculpt anything that day either, so no more work will get done on this until Thursday. I would love to hear thoughts on what doesn't look right with what of her there is right now and what I might try to make it better on the next attempt.

And for the record Goreshade's not glued to the base yet, he's just got a pair of pins in his feet that hold him nicely to it so I can play with him on Wednesday. Here's there to fill out the scene and scale.

Oh, and here's the artwork I'm attempting to imitate with this work. (if you know where to find this picture or the one of asphyxious without the watermark i'd be eternally thankful)
