My perception of beauty is certainly abnormal if you use societal measures; I actually tend to favor the looks of the average person over any extreme.

Eh, I don't even think there is a clear standard of beauty other than skinny, blonde, and white is attractive. There are dozens of star actresses that I don't consider remotely attractive and for some reason they're considered among the most beautiful woman on the planet? Walk around any college campus and you can find tons of girls of all ethnicities that are better looking.

Personally I think brown or black hair is better looking than blonde, but as always with fashion YMMV.

I also hate the huge amount of makeup you see on peoples' faces, it makes them ugly-- even men are somtimes guilty of this, which is odd. Makeup should be subtle, not obvious.

Do you know, I agree with you completely.. much prefer dark hair to blonde, and not only that the kind of skin colouring that goes with it.

I think Amaya was referring to the classical beauty trope, but it's interesting how that has come about. I don't know where the whole blonde obsession comes from to be honest, was it all down to that 'Gentleman prefer blondes film' and Marilyn Monroe?

I'm actually referring to women such as Cameron Diaz and Charlize Theron who are considered 'beautiful'. They're pretty, but they're nothing to write home about. There are drop dead gorgeous women all over the world from every race and culture with every shade of hair, skin, and eye color imaginable. The stereotype that blonde women are more attractive is really strange, I think a lot of people realize that, but due to the overall rarity of blonde hair, having a blonde SO is considered a status symbol across the globe.

As far as beautiful women go, I think brazilian athletes are probably the most beautiful, though sadly Brazil seems to have an unfortunate fad where beautiful dark hair is dyed an ugly blonde color :/

I admit to being envious of some of these gorgeous heads of hair.

Blonde hair has been theorized as being attractive as it is a good indicator of a potential mate's health. Blond hair occurs more frequently as you head north in Europe, into colder climates. The theory is that as you head into these colder climates, many other indicators of a potential mate's health may end up being hidden under layers of clothing. Blond hair is a mutation, (and also a recessive gene, I believe) and as with any mutation, in order for it to survive in the population, it needs to have conveyed some advantage. That advantage appears to be one of attracting a mate.

Blond hair loses luster and shine if you're malnourished, and even just with age. So it's a good indicator of health. Many of the traits commonly associated with traditional notions of beauty originate as indicators of general (and reproductive/genetic) health. Things like symmetrical features, broad shoulders in men, wide hips and full breasts in women (necessary for birthing and feeding children) are commonly found to be attractive. As another note, most studies seem to indicate that it's not so much big breasts and hips that are commonly perceived as attractive, but the right waist-to-hip ratio, which is why women like Monroe, who is much too big by modern standards, still retains her sex appeal in spite of modern trends.

Athleticism is also generally seen as a good indicator of health, which helps explain why there is attraction to the athletic body, such as with Melissia's Brazilians. Tricky thing here, though, is overly athletic women are often less fertile than their more average counterparts, so while being athletic is good, being too athletic is often considered less attractive in women (and why female bodybuilders are considered a fetish rather than beautiful). Our bodies just kind of know this stuff - we don't need to really think through all this when we see someone. But these traits are almost universally considered attractive, regardless of culture. Symmetry, ratios between certain body parts, and health.

So, the argument goes that given two potential mates in a colder climate, all bundled up, the one that you know is well fed and healthy, by virtue of having long blond hair, is a safer bet for a mate. Our instincts therefore lead us to an attraction to blonds. Of course, in the modern world, where being blond is a matter of buying a bottle of dye, and we can have surgery to change many of the other traits, the actual value of these attractive features for determine the eligibility of a potential mate drops considerably.

Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Kate Beckinsale makes up for all the unattractive British women and then some.

1. So Amanya. what is a girl of your type?
Does Patcharapa C. turns you on? ...
2. Maybe the rarity of blonde girls (which naturally appears on whites ethnicity ONLY, Asians, Blacks, Arabians, Indians, native americans, and Hispanics are ALWAYS natually black haired). might contributes to the reasons why Blonde girls (and inevitably whites) are considered 'beauty standards'. Personally I'm fond of blonde white girls, rather than asians.
3. Woman beauty standard criteron; shapes. I DON'T really understands why ALL modelswoman has to be TALL. popstars are not neccessary tall to be attractive. look at my No.1 diva. Kylie Minogue.
www.kyliekonnect.com

whatchu think of her meow? she's only 155 cm. tall and (it is considered that) she has a pair of small boobs.

4. What do everyone here think of FTV? a french-based sattelite channel that dedicates to Fashion world.
For me. FTV contributes alot to the phenomina that Eastern European women (especially ex soviets) rules the runway/stage/catwalk (meow). blacks and asians are very few there.
interesting enough. Michel Adam Lisowski (the owner) is also a big fan of Pattaya as he usually has a cruise trip of his White yatch there. and have about 100 russian girls (who's also modelswoman) on board.

oops I almost forgot.. FTV stands for "Fashion TV"
5. Michel Adam Lisowski may buy that living barbie. I believe that he has a big harem fulls of russian chicks.

This is Michel Adam Lisowski. He favors a photography of himself sandwitched with (usually russian) modelswomen.
