Said so on your other thread but these really are fantastic

There's something really realistic about them (relatively speaking). Exactly how I'd imagine alien space elves to actually be

Hey Guys man thanks for all the positive feedback! I do appreciate it and it certainly keeps me inspired to keep painting!

@Zambro: Thanks man im hoping i can actually have 1000 points in several months. I think i cam do it with not too crazy of a model count!

@Paradigm: Man thanks so much, im glad you are approving of the extra bits on the bases...i wasn't 100 percent sure it would go over well with everyone!

@ Ynnead: Right on man thanks! I was definitely getting some inspiration form wow night elves and such. Your eldar are looking crazy cool man! I gotta leave a note for you over there but your conversions are wicked man! I can barely get through a modeling session without gluing my fingers shut!

@ Aryilon: Thanks dude!! Your eldar are also amazing! Gorgeous painting dude.,.youve got some practice with painting gems because i like yours better than mine. Im getting better at it though!

@EDC thanks man !

@Cam: Thanks buddy, paradigm also approved of the bases so with you solidifying the deal, i feel confident im on the right track! Thanks!!

Ok so i went to the game store to pick my shipment of special order and a few things went awry. Firstly:

Yeah so my swooping hawk are totally smushed, things broken...very sad,...only 2 of 5 survived....so GW is sending me another box and hopefully i can fix the remainder of this box. Really only the guns broke. So also, they didn't order my falcons! So i Got to wait another week for that stuff...BUT...

In lieu of those other projects starting. I did...paint a war walker. I just finished the damn thing no WIPs sorry:( And i spent WAY too much time on this thing but i just couldn't stop !! If i can crap out 2 more like this first one to make 3 strong squad, i will be damn happy. I was all set to paint my vehicles a certain way when i got the inkling of inspiration. I decided to create a sort of wraith bone coral type thing by mixing washes and glazes while they are wet, and adding drops of a tertiary color with a thicker viscosity into pools of wash so it disperses naturally as it dries...the effect is a success. To be fair I did something like this on my Infinity bases for my Pan O; flat bases are one thing but its different on a large model, plus edge highlights et al. I did just notice that i need to edge highlight the front angle of the bridges of the shuriken cannon. Damn it! I always forget like one little thing that i notice AS im posting...grr.....
Any ways...here's the finished 1/3 warwalker....i expect all vehicles in this army to bear resemblence to this unless i get a spark of inspiration to deviate for some reason or another.

Cheers guys hope ya like! (PS My hand is not that orange but im holding the plinth Right under the light)

Cheers

Woah, that is really quite something! Sublime use of colour, wonderful basing, and there's a fantastic contrast of tranquillity and motion in the whole thing that evokes Eldar themes perfectly. I don't know if it's part of the kit or if you had to convert, but the tilting of the cockpit, the lowering of the gun and the inclination of the pilot's head all convey intent and direction, while the composition as a whole has a serene calmness to it.

Brilliant stuff! Shame about the Hawks, but I reckon they're going to be stunning in this scheme!

Could you do a small step-by-step or guide on the 'coral' effect you mention? Sounds very interesting.

Thanks a bunch man! I'm the same with painting personally. Can't get through a session without painting my fingers various different shades :S

Absolutely love the War Walker. I'll second the comments about the posing. Fantastic stuff. I don't think I've seen a model that captures the agile dynamism of these walkers...and it doesn't even have a foot off the ground!

Paintwork is stunning as always manages to look both realistic and alien at the same time

Gorgeous paint job. It blurs the line between art and war machine and I think that emphasizes the Eldar mentality perfectly. The basing is really standout as well, just so colourful and dynamic, looks like such a vibrant, living world. I'm loving this force so far, can't wait to see more.

Hey guys thanks Alot!! Im super pleased with it and i cant wait to see what it looks like on the bigger tanks! oh man thats gonna be cool!

Paradigm i took some photos for a tut about the coral affect, or whatever the heck you want it to be lol, and ill post tomorrow the whole thing.

In the meantime, ive started the swooping hawks. I initiually wanted it to be grey, but something was nagging at me about that, soooo....i ended up with a more seafoam color, which does look a little like the standard scheme, in some ways, in others id does not. Either way, it fits in better with the overall color gradient better. What do you guys think?? Open to suggestions...((bear in mind this is pretty early WIP pics, and yes im going to clean that giant moldline on the gun....PPS THESE FINECAST MODELS SUCK BIGTIME))

Cheers!

Good stuff! I reckon the Hawk's colour is great, in general I'm a fan of Aspects having variations on the main theme rather than their own schemes, that always ends up looking a bit technicolor and incoherent to my eye even if it's done well. Variations on the blue-green gives you plenty of scope to tie in the other Aspects, maybe a darker 'ocean depths' version for some Dark Reapers or a greener mix for Striking Scorpions ect, all while keeping it coherent.

Love the Hawk I'm also a fan of Aspects in variations of craftworld colours so this is perfect

I'll second the general displeasure with Finecast models as well. I've got one Spiritseer in Finecast and I haven't bought another Finecast model!

To update my aspects into craftworld colours I'll be stripping the old metal models I've got, and then keeping an eye out on eBay for OOP metals as well...

@ EDC Thanks man! The shell is actually painted too btw, it was originally white

@ Paradigm: ah man, im totally with you on that. Thats a great idea for the Dark Reapers, dark blue. im into it!!

@ Ynnead: Thanks dude! Yeah im SUPER dark on these finecast models. So much that im rethinking if i want to use ANYTHING made from finecast. which is a bummer....The texture is gritty, there are holes everywhere, insane amounts of flash which sometimes destroys fine details...Its total Sh*t to be honest. Sorry GW, but THIS is why people are mad at ya....>_<

@ Whaley: Thanks man, yeah i agree that i wanted the model without the canopy, mainly because i liked how the pilot came out so much that i didnt wanna cover it up. Secondly, the way i painted the armor, would be almost impossible to do on that canopy i have to find a way to work it. Im not good at painting those things, I remember as kid trying to build scale model airplanes and those damn canopies always looked terrible!!!!!! >_< i better figure it out soon cuz i jhave to paint a bunch of em!

@Zambro: Thanks dude, im telling ya, those watery glazes and super thin paint sure make that happen!!

@ Gits: Thanks man! Im pleased with it and cant wait to see a whole bunch of em. its a fun model to build so they are rewards for finishing squads

Speaking of finishing....anything....i slogged through this finecase puke of a sculpt. Everything about working with this material is a DRAG. The only thing ive ever painted finecast was that sea ogre, and i abandoned to project because peices kept breaking off of it as i painted it. What a joke. Im not thrilled with this finished model, more than anything because of the time and fidgeting it took to get to this point, and the return isnt great. The model i think is serviceable and im hoping that a full squad of them will look better. Especially hoping i refine this paint mix and iron it out. For now illl go on with this scheme...Maybe playing around with wings...mix it up....anyways....heres a finished 1 of 6 Swooping hawks....Six....like this....F_+k me. >_<

The pics arent great either....Sorry guys for an underwhelming update lol....::grumbles about finecast...

I'd definitely invest in scouring eBay for OOP metal aspect warriors much nicer (although the Hawks do have a habit of falling over :S)

Ad for the canopies, the best ones I've ever seen were on a Dark Eldar Voidraven where the chap had given them a very light wash in a bright green ink. They'd stayed at least translucent, but had a really neat colour to them

Maybe a light sea-blue/green ink on the canopy would look good?

Good work BB. The walker is lovely.

The hawk-man...elf is nicely done.
I feel that it could do with a small spot of another colour, maybe the eye-lenses. See the pilot's blond hair on your walker, something like that (in spirit if not colour...doesn't have to be yellow).
