Thanks Ruglud and Shas!! i loved painting this model. It might have been my favorite sculpt to paint so far!

I tried to take a group shot. You can see how the painting has progressed from the first and second fusilier (left and right of the bunch of 4 on the left) which was painted in a GW approach more or less, how i learned to paint in WD, to the most recent and obviously smoothest of the em all, the ORC whch was painted pretty much all glazes. Through painting these handful or troops, i feel ive really been forced to learn new styles and approaches, and there is SO much to master out there. For what its worth, i post my minis sometimes to CMON for the *absolute judging* because i like to know how my work stands up to the very best painters, and if indeed im progressing, and i average between a 6.8 and 7.4 there. Not terrible, but not that great, the difference between 7-8 may not be that much but between 8 -9 its even more so, and 9 - 10 is staggering....anyways....

cheers!

Love the way he turned out bebop. The modulation on the individual plates is fantastic and i love the contrast between the plates and the dark cabling.

For those of you not versed in Infinity lore, the mini in the back row, holding its gun up, the one without a hat, is known as Ugly Crocman, the ugliest mini in the Infinity range. There are jokes and comic strips about that mini, and how ugly it is. It is now OOP. Seeing it in the family shot put a smile on my face. Thanks for that, Bebop.

Nice work on all of them. The ORC trooper... have you been reading Angel Giraldez's painting books? The mini is very close to his style of painting. Of course this is a compliment, but you knew that.

Hey fellas, thanks for all the positivity! im stoked about the group shot Some are older than others, but all in all, they look nice together!

@Gits; Thanks!! i think i needed to focus more on the cabling actually, not make it lighter or anything, but that part of the mini i somewhat neglected because it looked pretty much straightforward as is with just a few washs of nuln oil over a blue grey (fenris grey)

@Cam: pshh hogwash, its just practice my friend!! i see your progress as quite remarkable as well i might add <3

@ Dr H: thanks good dr!!!

@Ruglud: appreicate your comments, thanks! im glad they look pretty snappy all together

@ Moltar: good to hear from you, its been a while! THanks man

@Red: Hey Red! Good to hear from a fellow infinity painter. Apologies on the slow comments from my end, i have been keeping up on your work and it looks amazing. Your NMM golds are so vibrant! and CLEAN and the new aconticimineto troops you are doing are fabulous. Loving it. Thanks for you insight on where im headed. I HAVE been reading his books, however, he uses an airbrush, and ive attempted to do that, but my airbrush is just too crappy (read: i have no idea what im doing with it, and im hiding behind its 100$ price tag), really more of a paint gun, and i just cant seem to wrap my head around on how to use the damn thing for anything more than priming. So i sorta bastardized a brush handed approach to copy a similar look. The base coat, if you can even call it that, is a glaze of the lightest blue, then i just glazed successively darker blues up to purple to wards the shadows. It came out pretty nice i think THanks man!

Cheers All

hmmm...ok i think for some users the pics resize automatically, and for some they dont! Sorry guys!!! im just trying to figure out how to display the pics properly in dakka. Its so annoying, this is a non issue on cmon, or fb or any other site but dakka does something weird to the res when you embed at certain sizes. Either that or im an idiot, and the latter is more the likely

heres the same pics at suggested size for you guys, though clicking the photo and zooming in a bit is needed to see them at proper res. thanks for letting me know, cats!

let me know if thats better!

Thanks!!

Awesome

So ive started another Pan O mini for my force and this one is a special one off miniature that comes with Angel Giraldez' Painting masterclass book, which is freaking AWESOME. The eye candy alone will make you want to try out Infinity. Anyways, i had a brief exchange with major tom about a concept of pushing paint around and smoothing it LATER. Which is counter intuitive to my brain and really scary. But, as much as i like the progress im making with juicing glazes from the beginning, i do notice that because im relying so heavily on the xenithal prime that i dont have alot of room for error. say i mis paint a black line onto my smooth blend, well too bad game over because i cant just glaze over it, i have to have an opaque coat and the juicing, there is no opaque coat. So, i decided to give this concept an initial try, and i wont lie, its a bit wonky for me so far. Obviously ill have to sit with this for a long time before it starts to make more sense, and in hindsight, i shouldve tried this on a bigger model. These female infinity sculpts are reallly small. Ive gone for more opaque basecoats here in hopes that i can truly FIX anything with glazes. Tom said it can be done, so i believe it. Theres alot of going back and forth with this mini hoping around here and there. glazing up glazing down, glazing left....you get the idea.....May have screwed the pooch on the face, got a bit too slap happy with brown glaze and i think she got tanner than i would have preferred...but again, maybe i should not worry and see how i can fix it...

heres a crap load of pics. (still messing with the camera) Im going to load at suggested size but ill put up a few of the full size just in case as well ((clicking to zoom gives proper res))

THanks guys

BB

Is there a spot in particular you aren't happy with? You said the face was darker than you wanted, but I think it looks fine. She is a warrior after all, surely she has some color in her skin.

The only thing wonky about that figure is the positioning of the breast cups... which is totally wrong for a warrior. You want them pushed in and out of the way, not apart and interfering with sword use.

Thanks EDC.

@ Whale : more so , just the process is grueling, Its alot slower going because im kinda just toying around with the concept in apllication. Im not displeased with the end result .. so far!

@ Gits: take that up with Corvus Belli! lol, personally, i rahter enjoy painting that shape LOL...mainly because its fun to paint in highlights on that kind of geometry. gitcha head outta the gutter!

Yeah, get with the boob-armour Gits'. What's the point in boob-armour if it doesn't look like boobs.

Always good to try new things, BB'. It's looking good from here, whatever you're doing.

I also like that she nearly has a Union flag in the middle of her chest, although it's missing the crosses for the Welsh and Irish. I did a double-take before noticing that.

@ Dr H LOL, i know RIGHT??? Git with it! lol....
@ Complex: thanks very much

ok! now ive made some progress and instead of wussing out, i just went all in and decided to block with mostly opaqque basecoat. Set my highlight points and shade points with pretty stark contrast, then smooth blend to make the gradient. I love it. Its starting to make sense, though on smaller fiddly bits its a bit scary. Not sure yet if its me, or if its a more practical concept on bigger surfaces, like the thigh plates where it worked very well. Im not thrilled with the underside of the arm, it feels cluttered and busy, but the scale is so small, i have to just relax and step back before i obsess and ruin it. the actual back im pretty ok with at this point. anyways,... Progress progress progresss!!!!

cheers!!

Jeanne D'Arc. Elle s'appelle Jeanne D'Arc. A fine mini. We are still waiting the regular release though.

Doc, maybe look at the Iceland flag? And the Danish flag on her pauldron.

Make sure the basecoat is still wet when you apply the strong highlight, and then just pull the highlight paint into the base. On smaller pieces, a stippling technique is a nice cheat when you don't have much room to move and blend the paints. And of course glazing covers a multitud of sins. Mini is looking good. I think the blonde hair turned out very well. ( maybe a few white high highlights though?)
