And I built my Wood Elf archers this morning, they are now waiting for a nice day to prime them. And no they aren't fixed to the movement tray this time

This is two units of 10 by the way

Yeah, These wood elves are looking amazing. I was a little sceptical at first with that number of Wardancers on the regiment base but the finished product certainly proved me wrong.

The PanO look great, and I particularly like the urban bases on them, as well.

Thanks Azazelx I'm really hoping I can pull off the whole army like this and the other ones I have planned.

The urban bases came out better than I thought they would, I want to paint more PanO but I've ran out for now.

--------------------------------

Sooo the Wood Elves are on hold at present as its been raining all day so I cant prime them. I did win something for the army on ebay though that looks like it was sculpted by the same sculpter as the wardancers and characters, I'm not telling what it is until it arrives though

I was in a painting mood today so with no Wood Elves I went to delve into my primed box for something, but it had all my Infinity minis on for the batreps I'm doing. I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to move them, but there was one primed model on top because it didn't fit in so I started on that.

A Sicaran for my Mantis Warriors.

Here's a pic of it with basic colours down

And a few pics showing the weathering on the central part, I don't think its looking too bad. I still have weathering powders to add to make it sandy but I'll do that at the end.

Oh nice. I like the military-looking colours. The green and desert yellow work very well together while still having enough "space marine heraldry" to them.

Thanks Azazelx, it should look even better when I do the pigment, well I hope it does.

-------------------------------------------

More work on the Sicaran today.

The tops finished minus the turret.

The engine section at the back is finished

And I've completed one side.

This is how it currently looks

Things left to finish

Side 2, turret, sponson's and tracks, plus sandy pigment which I'm a bit worried about but should be fine.

Thanks

Most of its done by hand so theres not much room for error, thats why I dread the pigment stage as that has a mind of its own.

I didn't get a chance to finish it today I'm afraid and its back to work next week so I doubt I'll get any work done on it until next weekend.

I just have the las-cannons and then a few little bits here and there to do and the pigments.

Looks excellent. One of the best space marine paint jobs I have seen in recent time. Probably due to it having a great "realistic" color scheme rather than the in your face heraldry normally associated with space marines. Very much enjoying the progress shots.

That sicaran is just looking Mean.

After seeing your elves getting based it reminds me I need to start basing some KOW stuff, but I don't want to get off my Zombicide glut. I might have to switch back to doing my terracotta troops instead of mantic orcs as they are annoying me.

Well I've finished the Sicaran, bit nervous showing it off to be honest, I'm hoping I didn't go over the top on the sand pigments. I wanted to add enough to like like it was actually desert fighting but not too much to take anything away from the painting. Was really hard to judge and the fact you cant really tell whats its going to like like until after the sealer has dried.

Ah well here goes nothing, all pics are voteable.

Mantis Warrior Sicaran Battle Tank

Thoughts please

And here's a pic of the other thing I picked up off ebay for my Wood Elves the other day.

Sisters of Twilight on Forest Dragon

In excellent condition, it hasn't been painted, bare new metal which was quite exciting. I've now got a collection of dragons to paint at some point

The reason I'm posting today rather than Sunday is I'm working tonight so might not get anything done tomorrow. Next project is Wood Elf archers and a model for a painting comp, I haven't put that together yet though.

I've still got quite a few things planned for my MW's another Sicaran, which I actually have. The rest I need to pick up, currently looking at another 5 man tac squad a bike squad with commander, techmarine and an Inquisitor in razorback. I've seen the Inquisitor model I want so will pick her up next month.

Great work on that Sicarian. The weathering really combined with the militaristic colour scheme well to produce a great-looking finish.

I think it looks fantastic. But shouldn't there be more dried mud on the back of the fenders sprayed up by the spinning tracks?

I thought from the first shot you may have overdone the pigments, but I think it is more the angle of the photo and how the lighter pigment reflects the light more.

But you shouldn't have any concerns showing it off. With the weathering and pigments on top it is a fantastic tank and will be an awesome center piece to your Mantis Warriors.

Cheers Azazelx, I'm glad it turned out ok was a bit worried waiting for the pigment to dry.

Gitsplitta wrote:I think it looks fantastic. But shouldn't there be more dried mud on the back of the fenders sprayed up by the spinning tracks?

Thanks Git's. The Sicaran is a strange tank, all the tanks I've looked at in desert warfare have the top of the tracks covered which kind of makes sense as its a vulnerable place. The sand from what I've seen mostly gets stuck on the tracks where its compacted, not much of the sand actually stays on the vehicles unless they are behind another.

Oh Git's have you seen these new helmets from FW, they are for White Scars but would be perfect for Mantis Warriors. I'm going to get some for my bike squad when I can afford it.

If it was a normal tank the tracks would be covered which kind of throws the look off a bit, it also looked a bit weird when they were just metallic as well. I have a second Sicaran waiting to be built so they will be twins
