No no

na·vel
ˈnāvəl/
noun

a rounded, knotty depression in the center of a person's belly caused by the detachment of the umbilical cord after birth; the umbilicus.

Navel force... that's going to make me chuckle for awhile now.

And yeah, knifing Martians isn't a terrible idea, anything to keep that disintegration rifle at bay, but it's the exact wrong way to go up against zombies, ruh roh!

Got my space marine force prepped for battle today, if that ends up happening. I kept it simple going with
1000/1000 Iron hands
Captain +PF,LC,AA
6 scouts, bolters, ccw for sarge
10 marines +flamer,MM,Rhino
10 marines +flamer,ML,PW on sarge, Stronos razor
Dread with MM,Flamer,Pod
Predator AC+HBS
Predator AC+HBS

So what I'm hoping is a durable little force with several tanks and a distractnaught. Fighting orcs apparently. I would have liked an assault cannon on the dread for even more back-field shenanigans but this dude doesn't have a magnetized barrel load-out (yet). Captain and 5 marines (with PW sarge) are gonna tool around in the razor and probably get clobbered to death in melee dramatically for style points. I could see painting this too someday as I've probably got like half of it done already.

Is this the list for your Ultra Mega Marines! or a different project?

Thats a shadow knights contingent I'm hoping to bring to bear against a local individual's orks. Curious as to how it pans out as I don't think he's played in several editions, we'll probably have to use an old ork codex and fudge some things. I'll also have to evaluate if 40k is the right game to play. Still worth a shot.

These guys are the shadow knights.

They're a bit of an esoteric chapter with dark angels tendencies like robes and secrets and being ashamed of their past, but I haven't chained them to a particular chapter book or tactics. I was going to make an army of them to cover various books/chapter tactics but I lost steam eventually. Then I saw tall scaled marines and lost interest entirely for awhile.

Ultramegas only have a few guys put together so they have to wait.

Just remember that your bolter fire is AP5, which is enough to outright ignore the armor on Boyz.

Looks like you have a solid enough list.

The Dread and scouts can tie up his advance, while the rest of your army concentrates their fire and eliminates the rest of them.

Looks like a solid list, plenty of AV and all the bases covered. The AC HB Preds should chew through greenskins like there's no tomorrow, and you should do well overall.

For what it's worth, I think 40k us the kind of game that works brilliantly so long as you don't take it seriously, and from your posts on here, I'd guess that is how you'll be going into it, so fun should be had!

Yeah I'm totally equipped to have fun with 40k, it's just a matter of opponent's demeanor. So we'll see He may have only wanted to play since its all he has models for, or he may really have missed playing. Either way I look forward to chucking some dice.

Here are those 5 US soldiers ready to be dipped posing around the second shirt I'm working on for my nephew. I think it turned out pretty well for my amateurish level of ability. Now I gotta put a bigger version of that sword on the back in a similar manner.

I think I'll go dip those soldiers first though.

Also the weird stripey bands are not part of the shirt, some kind of camera thing.

Very cool shirt, easily recognisable and nicely composed. Glowyness is awesome!

Thanks I wanted to add a glowy eye in the appropriate place but I figured it would throw something off so I left it plain.

Yeah as long as nobody backs out (*ahem ), should be some kind of game. I even managed to stuff all of my marines into one container, not everything has a form-fitted section of it's own, but most everything has some kind of protection.

Ooh a tape! I had forgotten about those with MA and deadzone.

Cool shirt. What paint did you use, the kind for fabrics? How well does that work with an airbrush?... yes, I always ask lots of questions when I see something I like.

@Adamsouza it's cheap and it's easy peasy or however you say that. Adult shirts at hobby lobby are maybe 3-4 dollars for men and upwards of 8 for women for.. reasons? Well there's a built in 30% off most of the time. You can get them cheaper by buying packs at department stores but they're thinner shirts usually.

What I've done so far is really simple stencil work, once you can do better freehand stuff you can make really neat designs.

@Red I used badger spectratex, it's similar to createx, I think they're both meant for fabrics at least to some degree. I'm gonna experiment with my minitaire sometime to see if it holds up too. I still need to iron the shirt to fuse the paint. It's meant for the airbrush so it works great The first shirt faded a bit on the first wash so I'm gonna make sure I iron the holy hell out of the rest of these, prewash to test, and touch up where necessary followed by re-ironing just in case.

So I did manage to play 40k. The shadowknights got beaten by the Orkish rabble, the thuggish brutes displayed unusual cunning (Kun'in?) and played the scenario securing far more objectives than the marines who spent most of their time castled up. I let the orkish charge fear me into my corner and didn't take enough of the boys out to win the objectives angle. Ending on turn 5 put me a bit out of position too.

Next time we will probably try something different, maybe some X-wing or Mars Attacks or some other shorter game perhaps. I'll dump some photos later.

Dodged a reprimand. Sweet!

Glad you were able to get your game in. Sorry to hear that you lost, did you enjoy tossing the dice around though?

Yeah. It was fun. I don't mind losing. It used to bother me but I've gotten past that point, for the most part. Played the game too safe, and didn't have stellar rolls. Given we're liable to play other games... I feel bad for dragging the poor marines out for one fight.

I like to think about gaming like sex or pizza. Even when it isn't great, it's still pretty good.

Unless it's from Pizza Hutt. You should never have Pizza or Sex at Pizza Hutt.

Yeah forget that place. Dominos is ok. Little Ceasers may be even worse than pizza hut though.

Cool. I had to look that up since I only played Halo a little bit

Thanks

I'm gonna put the sword a bit larger on the back, should I do an outline like the arbiter guy, or more like the sword he's holding on the front? The outline will look solid, as does the guy on front. If I try to make it solid and glowy it may or may not look good so I'm hesitant to mess it up since the front is done.

Crossed huh..... I shall have to look into this

Those 5 human soldiers are done, pictures taken but I used the cable to charge my phone last night and the sleeping drago...ahem...toddler in that room may wake up eat m....be upset. So more on that later

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So yeah bookmarked a link to study, I think crossed may be the way to go. Still not sure if I should do glowy outline line the guy on front, or try not to mess up glowey swords. If I make them bigger I'll have to do more detail and that brings a larger chance of failure. Don't have time to practice really gotta spend the hobby time making more shirts lol.

I need to finish a few more martians and a couple of human survivors and I'll have the first five or so scenarios covered. After that, I'll need to do more survivors for specific missions and eventually 10 more martians and Tor for the last couple of scenarios.

Took some photos of that tragic battle against Orks:

I may write a brief report/synopsis later but for now is just gallery.

The soldiers are looking good!

Do you have to add anything else to the shirt? I think it looks pretty awesome as is. I mean, I think the swords would look good on the back as well but if you are worried about messing it up...

I can do the crossed swords pretty well, if I do them as an outline like the guy on front. If I try to fill in the middle, that's where I run into trouble.
