Ork questions are on the last two pages of the PDF. Let the grumblings begin

Q. Under the Ork Boyz entry it says that “the entire mob may replace it choppas and
sluggas with shootas for no additional cost”. Later in the same entry it says that “Ork
Nobz may replace their choppas with Power Klaw’s or Uge Choppas”. So the question is
can a unit armed with shootas take a Nob armed with either a Klaw or Uge Choppa?
A. No, they may not.

This surprised me (not in a good way).

Maybe someone should have informed Phil Kelly of this before he made his list in WD 336.

Interesting ruling for the power klaw and shootas.

It does fit with GW's stated goal of not changing the written rules in FAQs though... so I don't find it at all surprising.

You forgot the other interesting one:

Q. For a unit to benefit from the Kustom Force Field save, does the whole unit need to be
within 6” or only part of the unit?
A. A minimum of one model form a unit needs to be within 6” for the whole unit to benefit.

GW creates a FAQ, and people don't like the answers?

I thought that we all *wanted* GW to produce FAQs!

Yeah I really have to disagree with the PK nob in a shoota mob one- it makes no sense :(

Umm.. nothing is surprising on an FAQ that allows you to roll for DS, then bring them in during the movement phase, thus allowing Ravenwing to scout, then turboboost first round and bring in Deathwing.

Also, silly thing such as Tzeentch sorcerers not being able to use their force weapon and a psychic power even though they can use two powers a turn. There is a lot of silly stuff in there.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Me likes, 2 tumbs up. Alot more validity then the adepticon faq (wich was alot better made with links and stuff). Even if I dont agree on all the stuff here its alot more "official".

Also, alot less changing of existing rules and keeping the game the way its supposed to be in 4th ed, no changes made to some "might be" pdf from the net. Not boosting the eldars like they did :O

Btw, PK nobz never was valid if you read the rule as it was written.

Interesting, as it directly contradicts Jervis's answer at Warpcon. (Which wasn't official and all that, so yeah grand, but interesting to note the difference.)

Guess a lot of folks will be switching to KoS orks for the tourney then?

Edit: Oho, I just caught the "This is clearly answered in the Ramshackle rules" bit. Sassy GW!
Way to answer the question.

Well, it isn't called an FAQ because they are Frequently Answered Questions now is it?
Zing.

Aw I'm sorry it's too early for this gak.

Q: When and how farseer powers work as a shooting power?

A: Doom, Fortune,Guide -> no shooting power
Eldritch storm -> shooting power.

Does this finally rest the discussion about guiding units in close combat?

Also:
Q. Do Warp Spiders have to take a dangerous terrain test if their 2D6" assault phase move
takes them into difficult terrain?
A. Yes.

WTF? Why should they? Jump pack ruling or what?

Interesting ruling on the shoota boys, though, haven't thought they changed it that way.

Yeah it's just for the UKGT, but if the US follows suit, well boy aren't I glad I haven't opened any of my Orcs/Orks boxes and started building the 90 Shootas I was going to.

Thank god I've been assembling/painting/playing WHFB, it will let me perform a bunch of returns if this pans out.

Wow. I personally like the "use the stats in each codex" ruling. So a grey knight assault cannon sux. Yet later on, Grey Knight terminators count as terminators if you're doing a lysander drop or deathwing assault. So in one case they get to mix and match their codex with other ones... and in other cases not.

[sarcasm] Makes PERFECT sense. [/sarcasm]

If rulings contradict something Jervis said, for example, its because this is just a list of house rules for the UKGT written by the Event Organizer.

It isn't any more official than any other independent FAQ, which is exactly why they call them "house rules".

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Everyone is acting as if the studio put out these FAQs and that they are official GW rulings.

I have news for you guys, they are as official as the Adepticon FAQs. They are not done by the GW studio, but rather by the guys who run the UKGT.

Ok, didn't know that. Or better, I thought they were a hint how an official FAQ could look like.

I think it's interesting to look at the differences between the UK rulings compared to the Adepticon rulings. Looks like games will be quite different on each side of the pond.

So you think you are smart, but sure.. if you consider GT a "my hobbygame" you are right. If you like most normal pepole consider GT the main tournaments in warhammer you are just trying to start some fuss.. and ofc, if you dont think it is.. the problem is probably you.

To be fair, in the US Adepticon is considered, by GW US as well as most gamers, to be equivalent to the actual GTs. After the big contraction a few years back, when the circuit went from 6 or 7 GTs to only 3, the indies have been asked to rise to the occasion.

It's different in the UK, where they have slightly more GT support, a much smaller geographic area, and much more access to headquarters.

Yeah, seriously. Adepticon is the biggest and best GT in the USA and it is run by guys who really know the game. But anyway who cares, play they way you want to at home. This only applies if you are playing at the UKGT.

Enhance your calm.

As noted, in the UK the GW GT is the main event, though independent events still usually have their own FAQs, and rarely adopt the UKGT house rules, mostly for the same reasons that some people dislike the INAT FAQ; because it's not official, and because they disagree with a lot of the rulings. IMO, having read several of the UKGT house rules documents, they're significantly less consistent than the Adepticon FAQ, and often include rulings which make the game less fun/balanced (like making Monoliths immune to Gauss weapons).

In the US, the GW GTs are just getting back to being good, after a few years of withering, during which indy events like Adepticon and the Warhammer Independent GTs really rose to prominence. GW has had staff visiting and taking notes at the last couple of Adepticons, and Adepticon was asked by GW to be part of the GT circuit out of respect for what the Adepticon staff have done (including their comprehensive FAQs, of which the latest is just the newest and best).

Also note that staff from the UK Events team visited AdeptiCon last year to observe.

I must say that the quality of the US GTs took a major leap forward last year and is at the same quality level as the UK from when we played in them in 2007. If Dave Taylor and the rest of his crew continue to follow through with their updates and changes, they will easily pass the UK in 2008 as far as event quality.

AdeptiCon will still be the front runner by a big margin.
