My local GW still has one or two left... I was thinking of picking one up... maybe just to keep for a while.

Had I not bought a full company of marines several years ago and had the money? Yes.

If I had the money? Probably. But first I'd want to finish up all the marines I have laying around. Then I can start on my 2nd battle company.

I ordered one when they were availible last fall and I would probably buy another if my local indie got one. Though I am looking to collect the chapter so yep I suppose I am a rare bird in that respect.

If I didn't already own the equivalent (more, actually) of a Battle Company, and GW still had Razorback / Whirlwind / Predator / Vindicator sprues available (oh, wait...), I'd do it.

If I could get some robotic assistants to help me assemble and paint them so that I finish it before I die then most likely. I had considered wimping out and getting one then painting it all raven guard or some other easy to paint legion, but I have more than enough to paint this year already

I prefer more variety in my models (and I have the better part of a battle company already) so I would not buy one.

If I needed the models, then yes. As it stands, no.

Well I don't think the battle company would do much to bolster the ranks of my eldar army so no.

But the box is a good deal for what is in it. If you plan on using 75% of what's in there or more, I would sugest that you buy it. You can probably trade anything you don't need to someone else who does want it.

We bought one collectivley, and then split what was inside. I took the Assault Marines and 4 of the vehicles, and the rest went between 3 other friends.

Good way for a group of people to get a few things and save money at the same time.

Nope, I have a bunch of marines already, and it wouldn't have enough cool bitz to let me make em stand out enough.

Mate, I would highly reccomend it. It is a good deal for the $$$'s. As an added bonus, your 'Bitz-Box' would be the Envy of all of your mates. As an afterthought, if you get yourself three(3) Land Raider Terminus, you get enough kit to make the 'Standard' LR's, and enough extra sponsons to turn some of your Rhino's into preds or Razorbacks, just FYI mate.

I already have a substantial SM force (3000+), so this would to start another legion... maybe ultramarines.

Would I buy a battle company? If I had unlimited money, then maybe. But as of right now, no way, simply because I would probably never get it all painted. And that would make me feel hella guilty.

Yes. And then buy an airbrush (or some decent acrylic spraypaint like the old GW stuff) and two cans of Minwax Polyshades. Spray red, gold trim, bone details here and there. Then dip 'em, and prepare to terrify the world with how fast you've painted a Battle Company.

Better yet- get two good friends and lots of beer, and do the aforementioned in a weekend.

11000 points for $9800, but surprisingly it is from a game store and has been painted by pro-painting companies that advertise here on dakka. I think it might work out cheaper to just buy the battle company box set, ship it off to a chinese factory and have a company of painters paint it for you though

Well, I just happen to have $9804 laying around. I think i'll get that army, some cheeseburgers at McDonalds, and call it a day.

Man I was looking for the picture of the little nerdy kid holding a battle company box and doing a really slowed laugh while other nerds looked upon with envy.

Come on,.... no wonder there are just a few hours left and there are no bids on it. If he took one of the zeros off then he might get some bids.

The paint also seems average for a "pro" job. Good, to be sure, but not 10K good!

To be fair, this is a lot more than a battle company, with 200+ models.

For the same price, you could buy 9 death wing assault companies and enough spray tan spray paint + futures to spray and dip them all.

10 LARGE!?!?!?!? Wow. I remember a hugangous army painted by 'Eavy Metal, and featured in WD being on eBay way back when. I recall it being about 1/2 to 2/3 the size of a battle company, and all painted to 'Eavy Metal standards. It sold for $2000.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

And for 10 grand, I'd like some flippin' highlights, not a flat red paintjob.

Now, he might actually get 3-4 grand for it all, if he parted it out and sold 4-5 different tactically sound armies.

Wow we might have to start raising our prices!

if we were to do that at Warpaint Studio it would run about $6500.00

EDIT:I just checked the link it isnt a Battle co box per se its an Apoc army big difference

Man....and I was just about to bid 10k on that flat red army... then I saw the assault cannons on the termis. Barrels are neither drilled nor painted to look drilled. Total deal breaker. Oh well, guess I have to just continue paying for college instead. Sheesh.
