Ogryn and Ratlings are men. They're human that have developed differently due to their environment. I see them no different to the myriad of races that we have on Earth now.

People from Sweeden, Norway and Denmark are usually blonde-haired and tall, and people from Asia are characteristically short - do we call them ab-humans?

Except the Swedes or Norwegians or Asians aren't genetic abnormalities in the general scheme of the human race.

Race is genetically derived.

Ogryns and Ratlings are just severely differentiated genetic derivations. They're practically a textbook example of disruptive selection. As far as gene expression goes, the physical traits they display are a result of extreme physical traits being more fit than the mean.

Just like tall vs. short people, or long blonde hair vs. short curly dark hair. Different forms of the same species, carrying the same chromosome sets that code for the same traits as everyone else; the only difference is that the genes that they carry are extreme for certain traits.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

Oh no: Space Elves, Space Orc, Space Ogres, Space Undead, Space Lizardmen, and Space Knights. (Eldar, Ork, Ogryn, Necron, Tyranid, Marines).

Seriously if you can get past all those, why can't you get past "space hobbits?"

Look at how many of those have undergone serious revisions from when they first appeared though.

Ratlings are a gimmick, just like Squats and Imperial 'Beastmen' were, imo.
Yes, Ratlings are a mutated aspect of Humanity.
But as I'd pointed out over in the thread on Warseer...
They're not fleshed out enough to really make people want to take them; nor are the rules enough to make people want to break theme for them.

I'll be glad to go through this again with you, just like we did over there

Please don't. This place is becoming enough like Warseer without us having to repeat threads from there.

Warhammer 40k is made better by it's over the top, nearly whimsical attitude towards the sci-fi genre. Yeah, their is tons of grim-dark, but there is just as much science fantasy going on that appeals to people too. If you want realistic theme forces, great you can do that. You want craziness? Plenty to choose from. No reason to remove something because some people want it but others don't.

That won't be necessary - If I cared what was said on Warseer, I'd go to Warseer.

All I'm saying is give Ratlings a revision.

Its kinda become a circular argument. They aren't popular because they haven't received an update and they haven't received an update because they aren't popular. There is no counter argument to that as you don't know what their revision could entail.

Also keep the trolling out of here. You've made it obvious that you're attempting to incite an inflammatory discussion on purpose.

I think a ratlings army would be really cool. Plus, they are really short. Good pickins in this True line of sight environment.

And what respectable ork doens't like beating small defencless space hobbits?
