Sorry, i do see your point, and did understand what you ment, that people think person with anger issues/mood swings is the same as bipolar. However, uncontroled anger and suden emotional changes could be caused by being in a manic stage, rater than the high/low swing of bipolar. Anyway, this forum is probably not the place to diagnose a mental health problem of somone we don't know

I was just a little tetchy about it for personal reasons, especially since the first post about the disorder came from a guy who, in another thread, has told a story about a friend being powerfist'd by a GW Manager for having the wrong minis out in a store. So I'm a little dubious as to the likelihood of a bipolar sufferer trashing his things.

Hmm, it is one of the more accurate ones of that type I've seen. Still, in my experience 'what society thinks' should be that second picture as well .

I haven't ever had anything bad happen except when a not so close friend came round to my house and attempted to steal my corteaz model that i had just painted up, so i chased him out of the house and gave him a few punches, he also tried to steal my full outlaw star collection.

I recently warned my brother not to leave him finecast models in a box under his radiator.

When I first got my cat, she teased it with the plastic Wolf Priest that I spent 15+ hours working on. She thought nothing of the cat biting and pawing at it. She giggled.

No matter how nice and cool everyone's significant others may be, evidently from this thread when it comes to "your" hobby, the are absolutely crappy girlfriends/wives.

I'm sorry, but my Fiancee would never insult my personal space and interests. She might poke fun, but not in any real fashion. Our home office is nearly 1/2 my war-gaming stuff, including a giant bookcase full of figures.

But then again, I'm a serious LARPer and she thinks all the leather and chainmail armor I make is cool. Of course, she also goes and fights at events with me.

My girlfriend painted my space marine captain hot pink and lime green.

What made her choose those colours is beyond me. I'm not changing them because taking a super human badass in pink armour seriously just makes laugh on the inside.

I know I wouldn't change it. People will take it so much less seriously if it's painted up like that...until it's charging through their front lines, massacring their infantry.

Really? I like to think I'm the guy in the suit. Calling them "miniatures" just gives me an acceptable outlet for what used to be playing with G.I. Joe figures in the backyard. A loss to age that I truly lamented. Until I married and gained a nephew.

Well, never had my wife destroy any of our stuff or my mother... Seems like some people have some serious anger / mental health issues that needs to be addressed...

When I was at work, my cousins took all my mini's out and where having a pretend war with them. Luckily the only thing they broke was some of the terrian which was curbstomped, had to throw some of it away.

Its not a horror story of mine but my friend had his parents take all of his models, put them on the ground outside and then burn them... This was because they thought that Warhammer was too demonic and that it shouldnt be apart of their christian lives which is understandable. Still, it was sad to hear as he's one of the only other people who I could game with :/

I'm just saying that yes the hobby can be seen by others (such as those of religious faiths) as being a demonic hobby with dark ideas that just dont fit right with their beliefs. I dont understand why they burnt them, but I understand why they didn't want their son continuing the hobby... The bbq of models was an overkill though :(

No, it really can't. Not by anyone sane or reasonable anyway.
Note that I am not lumping anyone with religious faith into the non-sane or non-reasonable... because that isn't true.
These specific people didn't burn the models/hate the hobby because of religious faith - but because it doesn't fit their world view and they are unreasonable enough not to try and understand.

More than likely these parents would've done the same thing for whatever hobby didn't fit in their worldview.

I gave my friend's girlfriend my old sisters of battle and rhino as a gift since she wanted to start the hobby.

A couple weeks later I find out via my friend that she had put them in her backpack, and gotten them covered in honey... I was like "wtf" and then I had a good laugh because I found it extremely strange.

Or anything else that would potentially force them to deal outside of their comfort zone. It's a very Imperial point of view when you think about it. Fear that which is different, label it as demonic or unclean, then burn it or shoot it.
In the real world, just as in 40k, it's the primary reason that there is no peace. Sure, the High Lords of Terra know exactly what they're doing, but the citizens just react to what ever they are told to hate, just like good little sheep.
