Somewhere.

Let's see...

My wife and mother both broke a Night Goblin Fanatic bending the giant flail on it's chain (the old metal ones)

My son banged a Leman Russ I was repairing so it dried skewed and had to be broken back down and fixed.

My son dropped a Hammerhead, cracking the hull.

My friends cat knocked off a converted Inquisitor, then peed on my army.

My elder daughter snapped the legs and arms off three freshly painted Forge World Crisis Suits.

One of my kids knocked off a partially assembled scratch built Warhound I was working on, returning it to it's component state.

My elder daughter snapped a leg off an Arachnaork Spider (she loves spiders, for some reason).

My younger daughter stole and broke a combat squad of my son's Marines that we'd just finished painting together. He was gutted until I fixed them all and made and painted up his Captain on a Bike model.

One of my girls dumped 3500 points of Grey Knights (the old, metal ones) on the floor after opening there carrying case and knocking it off the pile of cases.

I have five Death Cult Assassins snapped off at the ankle that I have no idea what happened to. I blame the cat.

I should point out that all this stuff is either in my room, locked in a case or, on occasion, on a work bench that's about 4 feet up and towards the back (or at one point even in there own room). It doesn't matter. They will be located and destroyed. Fortunately, my favourite part of the hobby has become buying old, battered models and repairing and converting them, so it's rarely a big deal to repair the damage again. The Forge World suits hurt, though, since they were my first splurge on Forge World. And the Titan brought a tear to my eye.

Here's a hint-break up with them after you get valuable things back. That includes expensive, mostly metal, daemon models If you don't get them back first...consider them a casualty. Sadly.

I only have 2 girlfriend related accidents

1. an ex who was living with me, managed to drop a full landspeeder squadron on the floor and smash them to oblivion while I was away.
2. last week, I just finished my shiny new landraider crusader and my gf wanted to take a look. Next thing to do was to start glueing the bits back on it after I picked them from the floor. :(

I'm wondering if this thread shouldn't be labeled "Self Help: What's mine is mine and bitch, if you touch little Abaddon, I'll rip you in half - A table top gamer's guide to fulfilling and non-psychotic relationships."

I've had some self-induced stupidness involving my figs. Had my Valk all done up and ready for a Friday night...smacked her right off the table and onto my nice, cold, UNFORGIVING concrete floor.

Thankfully, no paint damage and it popped apart in like 5 pieces.

May I ask where you find such wierd relationships? And why do you let them all go away with it?

My girlfriend still has a large collection of expensive console games, treasuring them like a dragon. It's her former boyfriend ones and she forbids me to even touch them since they do not belong neither to her nor me.

Sorry, why do you let her get away with holding on to an ex's stuff? Perhaps have her give it back? That's pretty weird in my book.

Not worst. Strange.

Used to play Fantasy a fair few years back with a friend at my house, simply because I had a large table. Ironically both of us had Lizardmen armies, however he'd gotten lucky with Skink Champions and managed to get the one with the sword raised whereas I had no such joy so had to use the other models.

One of the family cats decided to be...a bit odd. He'd jump onto the table, deliberately pick that ONE model up and walk off with it. He didn't knock anything else over, he didn't damage anything else. He decided to just steal that one skink. Over. And over. And over again.

Clearly that skink was not allowed.

Now only a CSM player.

My wife threw one of my Rhinos after me in an argument. Well it hit the wall and broke apart.
We fixed it together after the dust settled.

And our two lovely cats love my marines and Flames of War infantry stands. Whenever they can, they try to play with them... and they drink my painting water, which lefts me sniggering.
So, one time I painted up an US Infantry Platoon, but forgot them on my desk. Night came and went and when I came back, one stand in the platoon was missing and not to be found anywhere near.
My wife found the stand 2 weeks later behind the cabinet with scratches all over. She came over to me, showing the stand and saying:
"You know, he should be called Private Ryan. He survived 2 weeks behind enemy lines, chased around by 2 big german cats." These are the moments I really love her for and the stand got a nametag

It's expensive stuff and she is occassionaly reminding him (living 400km away doesn't make it easy to just drop by and pick it up). I wouldn't want someone to throw hundreds of € of my stuff away so I encourage her to keep it till the deadline. Isn't that a very fair and mature thing to do?

My girlfriend hates the hobby, but tolerates it because there are more important things in life than getting wound up about me painting toy soldiers, plus they keep me out of trouble and within conversation distance of her (she watches the soaps, I paint my minis on the coffee table).

Video games are a different story altogether (if for no reason other than she doesn't get time to spend with me when I'm up in my nerd-cave).

I can honestly say I don't think she would consider breaking anything of minis. She's much too rational for that, even if she hates the hobby.

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

A few people asked how do we let then get away with it. Well in my case if I made a fuss about it alot of my friends would have gotten into serious trouble. Everyone from the gate guards, the barracks cq, my neighbor and even my unit commander for not changing the code to the barracks front door like he should of every couple weeks. For me it wasn't worth it. She got hers in the end and that was worth the wait.

Side note, that army a few years latter after being repaired was broke in half and sold. The other half given to a poor, gamer at my flgs because he couldn't afford to replace his army after his apartment building burnt down.

Love this thread. Makes me glad I'm safely married however. I do have a thing about my wife and daughter leaving things lying about. It's to late for my wife I think but I figure if I keep after my kid I can break the habit. Finally sunk in not to just leave her shoes and coat on the floor just in the door. I do have a saying though. Pick your stuff up or I will. And you don't want me too. (evil dad grin)

Yes and no. I could repair some of the stuff but the next time we saw her we not so nicely escorted off the post at gun point with paperwork banning her from the base for life. A 9mm looks like a sewer pipe when you are looking down the barrel.

Then two years later he dragged 10 random guys (me included) to Topeka for a court order paternity test. I got my revenge when the judge asked us when was the last time we physically saw her. When he found out all of us but one guy hadn't seen her in two years he called her a, "Lying, f'ing b*tch that should never be allow to have children." He ordered DFS to take her kids from her right there. Great moment in legal history in my book. Worth half a company of dead space marines.

Damn you are like my new hero lol

I feel sorry for all of you emasculated men who think that this is the way relationships are supposed to go...

I've had some crazy girlfriends in my time -- the drug-using, take-money-out-of-my-wallet type -- but no one has ever contemplated breaking one of my models. Perhaps it's because they all know how utterly unhinged I would become or because I'm very skilled with a blade, but it was never even an idle threat.

All of this just makes me realize how lucky I am to be in a healthy and loving relationship. Seriously guys, you don't have to settle for less. Great women are out there looking for great men. Just be a real man and don't take the crap!

Cannot be pointed out enough how true those words are.

I'm kinda shocked that there's so many people with horror stories here (though of course this is the internet and we shall never know how many are true). Apparently I'm rather good at picking mentally stable wenches.

As for the worst thing my friends have done to my models. Well, in games they always shoot the best/newly painted ones first.

I have 2 stepnephews that think my models are "cool as hell". I don't mind showing them to them, but I repeatedly tell them that they're very expensive. They're also not allowed in my room whenever I'm not around.

This next story isn't about a mini breaking, it's more along the lines of embarassing/strange. I recently picked up some Grey Hunters and a couple Rhinos and my friend, an Eldar player, wanted to try his hand at assembling something from another army. He built one of my Rhinos in about 10 minutes, without looking at instructions, and showed me that the Rhinos I had already built were assembled incorrectly.

I do this-my friend was incredibly proud of his brand new, Deathwing painted Land raider Crusader that hadn't yet seen a game. Needless to say, my sternguard dropped right next to it and 5 combi-meltas later, it was molten slag, turn one. It threw off the rest of his game and I squashed him. Do I feel guilty? Nah...pull up your big-boy pants and finish the game
