Probably work

I've never dated a girl who threatened physical damage to anything I owned, and I've been through some nasty breakups. You people know some crazy women.

I have this shelf above my comp where all my models are. i also keep my speakers there. they are connected to my laptop and are connected to each other at opposites ends of the shelf.
My mom one day decides to come into my room when im sleeping( i hate this but she just says "its my internet too")
But she decided to move it. i wake up to a crash of all my lovingly paint models. she says she will replace anything(nothing is missing.) tothis day i wish said my landraider was broken beyond repair.
Im still upset about this one. a few years ago....
My cousins drops her kids of for some reason. they are both young. i leave for work while come back to my mom saying
"Son, im so sorry"
Why what happened?
She is panicing for some reason(she knows how i will react(very angirly)
"I thought they would just watch cartoons"
"What happened? I walk into my room to see everything is broken and the kids thought it would be fun to break my things. all my models are broken many of my conversions are totoled and missing crucial pieces.
I cant remember what happened after that. i was angry i know that and my mom tried to downplay saying
"Their Just kids, they dont know any better" and "Its my fault ill replace it" 4 years later those kids still arent allowed in my room even if their mom in in there. they all know it and they all break it.
My cousin also tried to use my models for bathtime toys for her kids.

Honestly, the worst that's happened to me was when my dad got all pissy about me leaving my models around (I had just played a big game the day before, and planned to clean up on the day after that) and just started throwing them roughly into a box. Most of them were fine, being Ork boyz glued with plastic cement, but twas the day of much, much deffkopta blade repairs...

Girlfriend and friends have never done anything to my gaming stuff.

My friends are mostly gamers. They know enough not to touch it.
Girlfriends have been aware of whom and what I was from the start (gamer, and that it wasn't going to change) - so they also didn't touch them unless they wanted to see them closer-up (and having sought and received permission).

The worst thing my wife has done was make me paint and assemble a WHFB "Fortified manorhouse".

Yeah, I know. First world problems.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

If a parent is ever raging to the point that they're throwing things or behaving violently, nothing in the world says you have to live with that. It's not "normal" and it's not okay. Same goes for SOs.

Back on topic, I've had a female take one of my minis and claim it as her own. Apparently my Possessed only needed to be 9 strong, and the guy with big horns and a fiery skull face was "cute" and liked riding on dashboards. He eventually disappeared from the face of the earth. I like to think that one day she'll find him and cry because it reminds her of me.

My girlfriend has a bad habit of winning more often than not against me. And painting better than me. And doing better in tournaments than me. She's a damn good Cryx player.

Other than that, the only real "harm" to come to any of my minis is when I'm gluing things together with my cockatiel on my shoulder. He likes to run down my arm or jump on to the table and pluck the recently settled glued piece off of models. He also likes to climb on top of models and stand on them like he's king bird. It's too adorable to be mad at

To be fair in my instance, I'm NOT about to go beat up my mom , no matter what she does.

Well, duh!

This is why I don't have a girlfriend.

The real problem is that often people are desperate or not careful enough to get together with a gakking closet psycho.
First and only rule: Dont date a fing immature child in a grown ups body and you´ll be perfectly fine.

My girlfriends are either hardcore gamer nerds and understand or are otherwise ok enough not to retort to immature violent games of trashing my belongings when arguments flare.
...and even if, people wont do these things if they k n o w for sure that there will be serious consequences should they pull of something like that.

This was a complete accident but was incredibly traumatic and horrible. See photo for reference:

That is my display shelf for my really old models and conversions that do not fit into my cases. I had things like a heavily convert Chaos Giant, my Khorne Warlord on Jugger, 25 Chaos Knights, All of my Skeleton Horsemen, heavily converted Possessed, old 2nd Ed Orks and IG conversions, a huge Grenadier D&D Green Dragon, and a lot more stufff of similar shape / detail.

My wife walked into my game room and (my fault here) I had a bunch of broken toys etc on the floor (I was making terrain). She stepped on something (barefoot) reeled back from the pain, bumped into my display rack, and the entire thing crashed to the floor.

Almost everything was broken to some extent. It took me a couple days to find every missing piece (which included having to clean out everything from under my game table and moving a bookcase and piano) and almost 2 weeks to repair everything.

Some models just aren't the same anymore, but most survived after some repairs. We still speak of this from time to time and it is a "cold chill" shudder moment.

In case you are wondering, that shelf is now permanently affixed to the wall with heavy-duty mounts.

Worst I had was an ex-friend and his girlfriend stealing my bloodthirster when they moved out. Wouldn't admit it, but it disappeared when they did. It was brand new. They only got the body, but it was annoying-I had the wings and arms elsewhere. They also stole a previous roommate's full Tomb King army. I think he was gonna get out of the hobby anyway, but they snagged it and wouldn't return it. And the joke was...the guy isn't allowed to play-his girlfriend forbade him from playing. Idiots much?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

"Let's steal parts for a game you aren't allowed to play anymore. That'll show em!" And yes, they're still together-she demanded a $30,000 engagement ring and an $80,000 wedding. He and I were groomsmen at our mutual best friend's wedding and he told me that. And those are in American dollars, and I'm not exaggerating a single penny

I haven't had any terrible accidents, but.

Do any of you find that when you show a finished model to someone they like to hold it, admire it, then subsequently pretend they almost dropped it just to get a rise out of you? People do this to me all the damn time. "Wow that looks really good... WHOOPS!" *make jerky sudden motion with hand as if I almost dropped the model* Then smile about it when they see the look of sheer horror on your face.

Am I the only one who gets subjected to this torment?

Also, I had a friend do that in the car with my brother, who had just finished making a small stone well out of clay - it was painted, flocked, etc. And the guy goes "Oh WHOOPS!" exaggeratedly but then goes "Oh man!" and starts laughing hysterically, as he had ACTUALLY dropped it out the window onto the road. We pulled over and managed to grab the piece before it was run over, but it was chipped badly and needed some repair work.

ALL the time.
Last time this happened was with my Arachnaroc Spider. I had just finished it the previous evening and brought it to the FLGS. I had it all assembled and painted except that I hadn't glued the spider's legs on the base and tree log, because I had not put grass and stuff to the base yet. Thankfully, no-one dropped it. I still hated it though.

That was really painful, as the collection contained not just my figs, but also several Airfix model ships and planes that I had spent a long time putting together and painting up.

Ouch thats bad.

My little brother once had to bring 3 things that were important to him to school for "show and tell" one of the things he chose was one of my metal chaplains because he really liked spending time with me and playing 40K with his big brother.

While at school it was knocked off his desk and broken, and then lost or possibly stolen.

He was quite upset; since it was my model and he hadn't asked me to borrow it (I was away at university).

There is a picture that was taken of him with his three special things (now two special things), all the other kids were smiling in their pictures, but he was barely holding back the tears in his. So what was supposed to be a special day for him turned into one of the worst days in his life.

He couldn’t even tell me himself so my mom phoned me instead.

I felt pretty bad for him, and also quite touched that he loved our 40k sessions enough to make it one of his three special things.

Needless to say I completely forgave him and gave him a hug when I saw him next. Finding out that he loved me that much was worth way more than one little metal marine.

Also he later found the chaplain (still broken) in an outer pouch of his backpack! One drop of superglue later and it was back to granting “litany of hate” to my crusader squads and assisting in the killing of his orks.

Your story warmed the cockles of my old, crusty heart.

As I may have mentioned previously/in other threads, I try not to touch other people's models anymore because I generally don't act like I'm going to drop it...I just do. So, I try to be hands-off now.

I was thinking the same... there are some pretty horrific/scarring examples of domestic abuse in this thread...

For my own part, my dad accidentally knocked over a few of my Tyranids a couple years ago. One of them was my metal Hive Tyrant who had been a huge pain in the butt to put together - thankfully he was MUCH easier to glue back together this time!

Also, back when I was getting into the hobby, one of my brothers' friends threw a ball which broke a few of one of my brothers' Riders of Rohan. When asked why he did this he said "sorry I didn't realize they were yours".

Yes and no. I could repair some of the stuff but the next time we saw her we not so nicely escorted off the post at gun point with paperwork banning her from the base for life. A 9mm looks like a sewer pipe when you are looking down the barrel.

Then two years later he dragged 10 random guys (me included) to Topeka for a court order paternity test. I got my revenge when the judge asked us when was the last time we physically saw her. When he found out all of us but one guy hadn't seen her in two years he called her a, "Lying, f'ing b*tch that should never be allow to have children." He ordered DFS to take her kids from her right there. Great moment in legal history in my book. Worth half a company of dead space marines.

I feel sorry for all of you emasculated men who think that this is the way relationships are supposed to go...

I've had some crazy girlfriends in my time -- the drug-using, take-money-out-of-my-wallet type -- but no one has ever contemplated breaking one of my models. Perhaps it's because they all know how utterly unhinged I would become or because I'm very skilled with a blade, but it was never even an idle threat.

All of this just makes me realize how lucky I am to be in a healthy and loving relationship. Seriously guys, you don't have to settle for less. Great women are out there looking for great men. Just be a real man and don't take the crap!

When my buddy first started dark elves, I painted one with a peace sign on the shield, blonde hair with bright blue highlights and he was hopping mad. Told me if he wanted to play with THOSE kinds of elves, he'd use high elves. Also, if you need to rebuild your eldar army, I'm trying to offload guardians and some converted models REALLY cheap. Like dirt cheap.
