As it is my little brother managed to knock my scratch built Colossus Seige Mortar of the table. Hours of work smashed . Still-atleast it was fixable unlike the quoted persons freinds figures......

I don't get it. Because a couple of armies have some horns and spikes, religious nuts assume that its the work of the devil?! It makes no sense, how do people make that connection?

Its the exact same as playing say, a game of Napoleonics (Historical). The game is along the same lines, the objectives are just about the same, but because it doesn't have some fake Gods or some kind of daemonic thing, it can't be the work of Satan, can it?

Its completely slowed, if you ask me. I know that it is a strong word, but there must be some kind of impediment to make that kind of 'logic' jump. Aplogies if I offend, but it borders on clinical insanity...

Purists (which is the word I will use) do not things that taint their perspective of a belief or object. They like things the way they are and do not want outside influences.

Christians who see outside influences like Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons therefore understandably do not want these games and hobbies in their lives because they foster what they consider an unhealthy lifestyle, which to them impinges on their moral purity.

It is like asking a MtG player to take their MtG cards and play a Yu-Gi-Oh game with them. It is something a MtG purist will refuse to do and outright reject.

luckily for me no one has ever tried to intentionally destroy my models but me, after fielding an attack bike with heavy flamer that killed absolutely nothing in the 10 games i played it (last 3 in a tournament) i figured it to be a cursed piece so for gaks and giggs i brought it out back. i then dug a small hole in the ground and placed in a seal bomb and covered it up with a bit of dirt, i then stuck the model on top and lit it up. the only thing intact from the event was the flamer. since then i have had much better results with the heavy bolter attack bike that has replaced it.

Now, I consider myself a Christian, and I have to say, most Christians are crazy. Totally certifiable. Die-hards of any sect are bad, baptists are the worst. I had a friend whose mom did the same with magic cards he brought back from my birthday party when I was ten. She wouldn't return them to me even, she destroyed them, I believe. Same woman called for saddam's head on a pike to be paraded around. And without seeing examples like these come out, she would seem like the nicest person ever. It was crazy how she could 180 like that. And southern baptist churches are even worse-I went to one (forced) and was practically told I'd go to hell if I sneezed in church. I can be a Christian in the church of my own car. I have a lot of time on the road, so I have lots of personal time with God. I don't need to go to a building full of crazy fanatics to talk to him.

I guess it's good that my friends and I and family that live fairly close to me are atheists.

I come from a Christian family. None ever had problems buying me GW stuff. My grandmother even bought me the old Chaos Marine on Juggernaut. I can't even begin to imagine how religious people must be to burn a model based on a piece of fiction.

Christian education (thanks to the church being allowed to run schools, which political parties can't... I find this odd), culturally Anglican upbringing (not being told God's not there, but not practising either) and finally a victim of the wonderful retreat of faith from Europe.

I think my generation here is the most tolerant that has ever walked this nation's earth. But my opinion may be skewed by being A. Rather privileged and B. Going to University.

That's what those lazy models want you to think.
I myself prefer less drastic methods of making sure my models don't slack off. Giving them nice paint jobs or telling them what their opponents said about their mothers right before a battle.

My brother was massively into WHFB and 40k during the 80s and early 90s - 4000 point bretonnian army, including polystyrene castle. 4000 point Space Marine army using old school marines painted as Rainbow Warriors, plus any models that he thought were cool - I can remember lots of Grey Knights and a few of the the original noise marine models, original LOTD, all kinds of cool stuff. I was just getting started but had a complete empire army from the time too [all in metal].

These were put in a massive box and put in the attic - step dad threw them out a couple of years ago. He had a smug look on his face until we told him how much they could make on ebay. My brother still has cold shivers whenever he thinks about it

On the other hand, Its so much worse once you realise that this was most likely an Australian's army. So much money... gone...

Can we please not do two things here?

1) Bring religion at all into this.

2) State that people in a religion are crazy. "Most ____ are crazy" as had been said.

It's completely irrelevent to this discussion and is pretty offensive. By the way, just because you are a part of something doesn't give you the right to call "most" others in that something crazy, stupid, intolerent, or anything else really. You can speak for yourself, and give an example of something you have seen- but you cannot speak on behalf of all people like you know every one of them personally. And if you are wondering, I'm a conservative Roman Catholic.

Anyways, I was playing a 2000 point game with my older brother, while my little brother practiced his soccer trick moves five feet or so from our gaming table. The turn my three outflanking vendettas arrive with converted vets deployed underneath them was the same turn my brother moved his 2 crisis suit teams to flame/ melta them.

As I went to grab one of my exploded vendettas, a soccer ball comes whizzing by- straight into the vendetta I was grabbing for. It then proceeded to smash into the other two, knock off twenty or so guardsmen and crush the crisis suits.

Let's just say that my older brother isn't as forgiving as I am and employs phisical force as his best retrobution.

Also he later found the chaplain (still broken) in an outer pouch of his backpack! One drop of superglue later and it was back to granting “litany of hate” to my crusader squads and assisting in the killing of his orks.

This is the most beautiful and touching thing about little plastic figures I've ever read.

I've had no major disasters with my mini's, and after reading the horror stories within the thread this is quite minor by comparison.

Back when I was but a youngster and fairly new the hobby my dear old MK1 Rhino got dropped out of the bedroom window. To this day, I'm not sure which sibling, parent or pet was responsible, or even if I should simply tag it under Murphy's.

Still, they built them well back then. A little paint and some knife work around the front ram. It was serviceable for a newbie.

I'm much more careful now, and fortunate to have a beloved who not only paints, but also thinks Tyranids are cute - All the better to mock my opposition.

Isn't it? I just want to reach through space and give Ma55ter_fett and his little brother a big CuddlySquig cuddle. My big brother used to play warhammer with me, but now that we're adults I almost never see him anymore and he's long out of the hobby

Minor technicality: the chaplain is a little metal figure.

In fairness, the best that a Magic card can achieve is a base 15 attack and defence points in YGO. That won't be killing anything any time soon. 'Course, I guess you could assign them points based on the percentage of the starting life totals of both games, but that's not exactly relevant is it?

Pretty much the only bad thing that happened to me was when my friend picked up my Chaos Lord by the (fragile) wings. They both broke off and ruined the paint because the glue I used to fix it (they were metal) reacted with it or something.

Same here. My three-year old son comes down and frequently asks to play with daddy's helicopters. I have had to reglue two of the blades on so far.

My wife hijacked my Chaos Daemon army. She saw the Pink Horrors, Flamers of Tzeentch and the Soul Grinder and said she wanted to paint those. I was a little sad as I was looking forward to painting those. I was extra sad when she proceeded to paint them better than I could have and I've been painting minis for over a year now.

On the bright side, my second army is coming along and I don't have to do anything about it to get a painted army! Too bad she will never actually play with me.

I had a crazy friend/roommate who thought she could just do as she pleased with my stuff but touch hers and there'd be hell to pay. One day I cam home and found plastic minis torn to little itty bits and the metals she had attacked also torn apart twisted and then each piece flattened. Needless to say we no longer live together.

Not much TBH- I've had my brother steal a few models after arguments, break them and sneak them back when I was away, and since the only things he spends money on is online games, xbox, clothes and food, I can't really do anything back to him. I've also had my brother (accidentally) tread on my dreadnaught in the middle of a floor-game (it broke at the ankle joints)... then the dog kicked it over as the glue was drying... twice...
and there was the time my mum decided to close the curtains of my room, and knocked over a librarian with them, breaking the left arm and top half of the staff off, but it got fixed.

You could always retaliate by replacing a game disk with a cartoon disk, then, when he turns the games on, he get's a kiddy show instead of the game.,

I've had "constructive" revenges... he breaks my korvydae model (forge world), I steal £4 from his wallet to buy glue.

as good an idea as that is, he goes on it basically 6 or so hours a day, so he'd notice. Either him, or someone else.
