Subject: Orkishness - the thunderfarter years. yes yet another ork thread.
@ Vik Thank you sir. The bottom grey bit is a piece from "megablocks", no idea what from, kids leftovers. The orange is a piece from a broken gun, again kids leftovers. The central shaft is the centre from a till roll from work. The rest is pc, oh the cog is from a farm toy, and the balls are plastic bb pellets.
@ SelvaggioSaky Thank you.
So here we are it is gone midnight and I have to go to bed, because I am just not well, but here are some pictures of where I am at. The clever ones will notice, I still have a fair bit of work to do, and I have not even started on the crew.....
KFF Generator in place.
All round shots.
Inside the workshop.
Flight deck removed.
Thoughts, hints and tips gratefully received.
Cheers

Nice, really like how stylised your models are. They're cartoony but really cool at the same time. Liking the whole idea of this build, keep up the good work

I like all the other detail bits, and where did that engine lifting device come from?

thanks cam for the helping with the used bitz... my kids are eager to suply me with needed bitz of old and crushed toys too... and tomorrow we will be hunting at a local fleamarket again... lots of happy meal toys and so on to be seen there^^...always a winning event there^^
and the chain that links the KFF coils is a genius idea! the lighting on the coils looks very cool... one thing i would like to suggest... if you are able to... add some energy flickers with GS or LGS to the chains... rather simple work but will support the big KFF effect in a tremendous way!
and the "Rab da Rivet".... are the first three pics the same model just different pics of the WIP??? wow... didn´t knew you could sculpt so well!
the head choice looks like he is sipping on a can of beer the arm with the servo fist looks very cool... more shots bplease... and well the other arm seems to be selfmade too....??? wow... those muscles look really convincing...
the only issue i have is with the ratio of legs to chest... but i am sure that is related to the fluffy bit of his origin you already posted...
@ Vik, thank you. The legs are from a nob, the head is from a mekboy from the lootas box I think, The braces are from the burnas. The rest is all me. Mostly GS (or similar product). And pc stuff. Never modelled a whole thing like this before. First time.
Ok here is where I am at with ...................my gods I don't have a name ............Help!!!!
Ok here are some pics.
More to come on Rab da Rivet, just finishing painting.......

Well that's me, to tired to be sensible now so off to bed. Totally not sure if I will get any time to do any more before comp, Still a bit WIP.
Talking of whips. I may remove the whip from the driver, not sure.
Ok so here is Rab da Rivet.
He is unlucky in that he is always getting something stuck in the machinery. Couple fingers here, whole hand there, who's counting right....But he's a survivor. Thus he is huge and strong, and although he is not too bright, he is brilliant at keeping things going. That's why he has a mobile workshop. Da Warboss is very happy because Rab see's no problem with refuelling the bikes and kopta's on the front line with bullets whizzing past. Soon he will have some big guns to shut them up anyways....
An accident with a rivet gun left his legs slightly stunted, thusly the name Rab da Rivet, "He got da Rivet right up his............"
Nuff said. Anyways, here are some pics, I think I would like to do a bit more paintwork to him, so count him as PIP.
Thank you for your ideas and thoughts,
Cheers

Hey wow, that's all moved on a bit.
Good effort on sculpting the muscles, look good.
I like the paint job on the bullet things on the ramp as well.

holy gak!... and seeing the spilled green (?) fuel on the deck indeed^^
that "kopta kaptcha" looks brilliant... all that fine detail... so many cool ideas! that all together tell a huge tale!... it is a dio all for itself!
that "K" on the helipad took me a second to comprehend... and then... of course... orks call them "koptas" d´oh...^^
rab da rivet looks cool... the hole mini is a nighmare for any punny humans...the only thing i am not that sold is the hue of the skin... he looks a bit too yellow in places? i would have expected a darker look on him... when orks get older they get biger and darker right?
@ Vik Thank you again. And yes you are correct. I am hopefully getting a chance today to correct the issue. I did not like the colour last night, but was too tired to do anything about it. Already put a wash of dark green on this morning.
The kopta was an earlier build, in fact it has a special place for me, as it was just after finding Dakka Dakka and Arakasi and his orks. I was just getting back into Modelling , at the time my kids all wanted armies and I was a painting freak for them, but not a good one, Then I saw Arakasi's Blog and here we are in less than a year I think. So blame him. Of course I then found you guys gradually and am still finding blogs that amaze and dazzle. And most importantly I suppose INSPIRE me to try harder.
Sorry for soppy moment. Guest just want to say THANK YOU.

that is where dakka does the most "harm" to me... all that very inspirational stuff around here just sidetracks me from sidetracking me while i sidetrack my already sidetracked stuff...^^
and no need to thank you... your work... see above is hard currency^^... i intend to steal happily soon enough from your ideas
@ Vik And I know what you mean, cant drag myself away from Dakka sometimes.
Ok Rabz Mobile Mekshop is ready for competition, not finished yet, got some ideas to be added, but go for comp. I would like more time but hey that's life.

well... you will feel sooner than you want the after effects of leaving us all alone... cold dakka turkey... this year we skipped summer holidays and spent the summer at home... while this saves a lot of money it also makes me able to be in the evening/nights here on dakka... only my wife complains...as she likes to go out into the wild and so on
the mekshop looks amazing... as i have often already said, so many lovley looking details everywhere... i wouldn´t consider it finshed so long you still have more ideas for that hulk...but indeed... it is more than ready for the comp... a true worthy entry! and your rab looks now more mature ... and also i note that you put him on a custom made "base"... i have done so too... specially if he is built to stay in the mek shop and wont get out this is a better looking way to have him not falling over all the time... a real base would elevate him way too much and you made the base stylish too^^
by the way... the hook pic reminds me of old horror movies
I know what you mean Vik about the hook pic. I manage somehow to sometimes catch an atmospheric picture of my models.
Sorry no pics at the mo, just back home. I will be working away very soon, and will be posting pics. I think the workshop needs more guns. And crew. Not sure but had an idea of netting going around the koptapad!
Your thoughts on these and any you would like me to look at are more than welcome.
I will be working on the Warkopta too very soon, but am holding back a little in anticipation of the next competition being flyers. Don't want to get to far ahead and not be able to use it in comp.
Think I will be working a bit more on my Assassin Nobz. Had some great ideas while on holidays.
I also have a major destraction from the orks coming up as I will be repainting the imperial guard army I have. It was originally collected for my son, and I did not paint allot of it, and that which I did paint was before I found Dakka and got inspired to try that bit harder with every model, so they are a bit below par at the mo. Unfortunately they are a couple hundred models strong, so will take a bit of painting. I think this will be done on a separate blog.
Don't worry I will not be leaving this blog hanging, and will have regular updates.
Thanks for looking and thank you for your continued support, You guys are great.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also I would like to point anyone reading this blog to a blog I found on Dakka.
i like your ideas you stated above, the netting would be a very orky way to create extra storage room and greatly needed as i think a more littered workroom with guns in different stages of disasmbley would be good looking...
as for the thread you linked... had a look... very good looking... will follow this, and...you really have two sons with autism? wow... going on holiday must then be quite a challenge i think as change is really not something that makes chilrden with autism react too positive?... how old are your kids? and when did you realize the status of your kids? if any of my wordings here sound a bit out of place i am sorry... no intention to offend anyone... just curious... i am trying to become a nursery nurse atm and we had quite some livid discussions recently at school and the whole disability- "thing" is due to no relation to the subject still very far from my own expieriences... tho soon i will have to do an internship in an institution for disabled...and i really don´t know if i can cope... you have to be really strong and capable to care for two kids at once mister... i don´t envy you but i have great respect for your family life which wont be an easy one...
My kids are Rhianna (14), Kieran (13) and Cameron (10). Cam-Kie-Rhi.........................I am actually Jeff.
The Autism spectrum is very large and covers many areas. Cameron was diagnosed with Asbergers Syndrome (probably spelt wrong) 3 Years ago, (took 2 years before that of testing for them to come to that conclusion.) He struggles with change and the world is very black and white to him, there are no grey areas. He has severe mood swings and violent tendancies, and struggles with social interaction. Kieran is not quite so bad, but much the same but also has a very obsessive mind and learning difficulties. My life is by no means hard, and there are many out there alot worse off than my family. But it is a challenge, every day, and the holiday was good but difficult.
I am actually on holiday for another week, but at home to settle the kids for the rest of thier summer break.
Hope to get some modelling done inbetween times.

ok.... i never wanted to be someone to step on toes here
well i have heard of that syndrome due to work ( a kid got that syndrome and also in a more violent direction... tho he was rather a bright and friendly lad but his classmates where kinda cruel towards him... picked on him as they knew he would explode and so on...i had to resign from working there... too much bad stuff happned there...)
also... i like the way you took the names of your kids and made them into your screen name....! that is really nice of you!...
