Cheers Cam.

It's always interesting to compare someone else's view of your work with your own view. With the vats I enjoyed the build, but really hated the painting, and that coloured my whole view of them. I also felt I could have done more to the them in with the walls, maybe some dripping flesh from the nozzles, or a piece of wall made that attached to them.

Good points on basing and variety.
Although there is a certain regularity required by the idea, I had put some touches in like the odd tentacle (obviously ) and hole, so there certainly was room for more of that.
Not sure I would have gone with decaying greenery, most of my basing is urban battlefield or rubble type terrain, but there was definitely room for more details and attention in the actual bases, maybe even basing the vats themselves.

Kernel Terror.....

Really great effort, welcome to the insanity. Please do not be discouraged. Honestly you did great work, playable and a solid piece, be happy to play on. It may be that your table is a desolate wasteland, so it would fit perfectly, but one thing that would have pushed this up would be a variation in the terrain. Some vegetation, different textures, maybe it was once concrete and the surroundings where mud, or tarmac, at the moment it all looks a bit samey. Also a bit more definition, you did well, but for instance the "heads" are almost shaped but not quite, would be nice to see a little definition. Over all this is a great piece, really want to see more from you. Spend a little more time on detailing, and think a little about the surroundings, you will seriously be getting there.

Thanks a lot for this feedback Camhierki, this is really useful going into the next challenge. I do not argue with your remarks resolution and detailing, while I did ran short on time, these aspects could have been planned from the start. So I'll keep that in mind for the next round, for which I am also building a dark wasteland piece !
