Pretty much what I expected. Nice and cheap at the cost of customization, but then again with everything being plastic, it shouldn't be too much trouble.

after those rumours of a 2-piece dread, I'm happy to see it is in fact a more sensible 7 pieces!
I might even be tempted to keep it as a looted dredd for my orks, instead of swapping/selling it with all the other marine bitz.

Now why on earth would you put a MM on a dread thats only fighting orks? The AssCannon is the perfect option, although I don't think any experienced players will be buying this for use on its own.

Undead Titan Log
Malfred: Terminator Armor has always had room for extra boobage.
Drake_Marcus: It's true- that's why the Space Wolves love termie armour so much. The whole "bear" thing they've got going on is just a thinly veiled cover-up of their huge, hairy cleavage. |

Sprues HAVE gotten much more crowded with bits and extras with the advances made in the casting process.
I was amazed at the amount of stuff that was put on the DA sprues, its good to see that they're keeping up the effort.

I think we've heard that it does?
I seem to recall hearing that the "regular" Plastic Dread weapon arms will fit on this one.
Now, to see about beefing up the powerplant/smokestacks...

Well, you can always use the "wide focus" option to have it count as a heavy flamer...
Wait, what?

Thank the Emperor that the Seargeant is bald, yelling and pointing; and I think there's a skull on his beltbuckle. Would have be a pity not to have such an iconic model in this set! And are those molded tac squad shoulder pads that I see? Very impressed with the sprue overall. Did they just have the one sprue on display (obviously, but had to ask)?

The models look good and easy but there is one major flaw. The dreadnaut.
The single largest model in the box isn't pointing, it isn't yelling, and I don't even see one skull on it!

It looks like there *may* be a skull on the engine casing on the back of the Dread....

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

I dislike the Warboss's feet. Why are they both pointing forward? Karate Kid?
His left hand is too big, his body is one dimensional. His claw is cool, though.
In fact the whole model is cool, detail-wise, just ruined by the pose. I'll have to chop it up so he doesn't look like he was shot against a wall.
The Marine Captain's head is coming off, too! (Though that raised collar is going to be a problem, I'm sure...)

Oh do I miss the old rules. I still have a Dread armed with a Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer, all painted up with flames and a dragon on his banner pole.

I'm confused. So 1 Termi, 6 SMs, 1 dread, and two Orks on one sprue? So how many sprues are there going to be? Or maybe there are other sprues with different stuff and this is the 'command' sprue?

There may be a second sprue with more SM and Ork grunts.

The models are plastic so unless you're attempting to have an entire army of radically customized poses, they're killing nothing.

As a longtime player, I can say I like the idea of the snap-together models. It doesn't mean they're going to get rid of our existing multi-part models - I think folks with that idea are getting pretty alarmist. But here's the two main advantages I see for the snap-togthers:
1) Easy way for new players to get into the game. These models will get them started. If they want customization, they'll get into the multi-part models. Consider these to be "gateway" miniatures.
2) For vets that don't insist on customizing every model in their army, these are a nice cheap way to add some rank and file models - these guys are going to be the ones that you pull first when the unit starts taking hits. But they bulk up the army nicely.
From all the reviews I've read of these so far, the detailing is every bit as good as the multi-part models, so I can't believe that GW'd be so sloppy as to make the Dread any smaller than the existing ones. They want to make these models fit in with what veteran players already have.
