is it me or is chaos in desperate need of a plastic dread not only cause they're heavy but they are really expensive due to tin prices(50 euro)

Ah, I didn't know any fielded a CSM dread. They are possibly the worst unit in the Codex.

Oh no sir... oh no no no. Chaos Dreads suck. If they gave them a plastic kit it'd be like possessed or chaos spawn kits. Terrible unit, but beautiful models. Not this again... H.B.M.C. will be in here soon. So will Nurglitch. This thread is about to become a warzone. I only pray everyone is at work or out doing stuff so this thread can simply fade into the background of intertubes combat.

Oh wait we are. If you just want it to cost less buy a SM dread and convert it. All you need is some Green stuff to do a few alterations. Give it some daemonic flare. Use some of the plates of spikes jutting from the hull and daemonic face plates from the CSM rhino kit and there you go.

My 3 converted dreads using the space marine plastic dreads and lots of chaos bits. Taking off their range weaponry and adding the flamer dual CC wpn is fantastic.

They are FAR from useless. When ran as tripplets... way tasty.

They won't make a new plastic chaos dread until they redo the codex again and make it the best unit in the book so everyone has to buy the new kit x3.

I wish that I had access to the Aobr dreads when I build mine... would have saved me like 60$!!!

I LOVE Chaos Dreads. My first one was one of the old ones and I hated it. I now have 4. 2 Forgeworld and 2 converted Imperial ones. THe converted ones are my favorite. ONe, more flexability for design. and 2 It's a poke in the eye of all those imperial scum

Typeline is right, buying an Imperial Dreadnought and converting it is cheaper and you get something more interesting anyways.

Something I'd suggest doing is converting it so that it has some of the characteristics listed on the picture in the Chaos Codex. You can get it a head, for example, by shaving down the sarcophagus and adding the front of some Terminator Armour for that MkIV look.

Even though dreads are poop I've really been itching to buy a few to convert them with bits left over from the Rhinos I bought recently. I just think they will look ace on the table.

I think a huge reason its not on GW's list of remakes is because of the awsome forgeworld models... if I wasn't going back to school I would have a few right now.

You rang?

A plastic Chaos Dread would be nice, and it'll either come with the (utterly needless) Legion Codices, or with a re-done, proper Chaos Codex made to replace the gakky one we have now. Think of all the cool HTH weapons it could have? And if they look anything as cool as the three FW Chaos Dreads I've got, I'll be very happy.

Umm... something about Jervis, DD and... general insults. Something about inane posts. Something about lazy rules writing. A mention of Warrick and his Copypasta powers again, just 'cause I like that joke 'cause it's so freakin' true. Uhh... yeah I think that's everything.

Shummy - your turn!.

Shummy - your turn!.

Rage, rage, indignance, something about macro economics, plaguemarines, a jpeg image of a man facepalming, unrelated ranting about the price of large warmachine metals, and a sensible reponse to someone else in the thread to lend the previous textwall some legitimacy.

Yeah, I think thats about it for me! Your riposte?

My riposte? Ok.

WHAT???? That's idiotic! Rage! Fury, and vague but loud indignation!! Reasons why you're wrong!

Reason 1: AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

Reason 2: Something is stupid!!!

Reason 3: Something funny but cutting!!!

Reason 4: Profit, you morons!!!

Logical dissection of someone else's post which was reasonably didn't actually make sense for the following set of reasons:

1: Shut up!!

That's mine. H.B.M.C?

It's better to simply be an idiot, as no one can call you on it here. -H.B.M.C.

Cap'n Gordino's instant grammar guide:
"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

-sigh-

You can convert the plastic Dread, either AoBR or regular. Or you can buy the conversion bitz.

That said, I own 4 metal Dreads, zero plastic. Plastic Chaos Dread won't sell any better, as all of the budget players will just buy AoBR and converting.

Besides if you're playing Chaos, you should have lots of bitz to work with

Ok... umm...

Biting logical arguments to cut through badly made points filled with enough bile to sink a hijacked oil tanker*.

A deconstruction of several logical fallacies made by the opposing side to boost my own ego, let me use a little latin and also because it's fun.

A few follow up comment to back up my statements with rock hard evidence, however they are covered with thinly veiled insults enough to make the other side get angry and make a mistake but not enough to get me warned by the mods (unless I'm fighting DD, then all bets are off because he's so unbelievably daft).

Snippy humorous comments spliced throughout this as well.

Ah! Good 'ol 'Counts As' there, hey JonnyBoy? Big fan of that aren't we?

The 'sigh' at the start was priceless though. Top marks for that. You really hate it whenever anyone wants anything, don't you?

Post that shatters your false sense of reality followed by an immediate and hasty retreat before I say something the mods don't like.

This is then followed by me putting you on ignore, then immediately taking it off again because:

A). The ignore functions is for pussies (like DD).
B). I just end up clicking on your posts anyway so I can read them, so it saves effort.

I didn't really think that was true when I first started hearing people put forth that theory...but now that I've seen an edition come and go and new books within my gaming lifetime (only played 40k since the start of 4th) I'm starting to realize GWS shuffles and rotates power in and out of codex' in every edition.

Just to sell models. Obviously nothing wrong with this, but I was under the illusion that the company produced a rules set first and then models so you could use it.

The Possessed though, I don't get. They are awful and even in 4th edition they were a little pricey/bloated.

GW has consistently stated that they are a miniatures company 1st yada, yada, yada. Just pointing it out, not picking...

On Topic:

I agree a plastic version would be nice, but at the same time, I can appreciate GW's reluctance due to FW's current stock of Dreads.

No. It's models first, rules last. New rules are always written to sell a new model kit. There are the odd exceptions (like Chaos Possessed), but for the most part the rules are written to sell a new kit or sell a kit that didn't sell in the previous edition (eg. Assault Terminators).
