Say you were Abbadon. You're embarking on a minor crusade against the Hurr Marines, and you must choose ONE chapter to destroy. Who would you hit?

I'd personally go for the Rainbow Warriors. Kill the happy-go-lucky guys I say.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I'm also quite sick of the Blud Rehven Spess Mehreens and Boreale. That voice acting will haunt me forever.

Clearly a Chaos Legion, planted by Abaddon to betray the Imperium from within, being as they are all madder than a bag of Berzerkers, and yet they refuse to betray.

I'd kill off a chapter with their own book to clean up the release schedule.
Probably Dark Angels.

So this is just tall poppy syndrom, ey?

If Blood Angels were the 'main' Marine army everyone would be saying Blood Angels now.

I'm not really aware of what "tall poppy syndrome" is but I think it will get you high so I'm all for it.

No one likes Ultramarines, that's all. They are just really stupid.

Probably more than that, eh? As the "main" SM force, they'd be obvious targets.

Ok, who here is saying Ultramarines because they pose the biggest threat to Chaos?

And who here is saying Ultramarines because they are the "straight-laced, dull, vanilla" army?

Think of it as the opposite of rooting for the underdog. Here people want to cut down tall poppies for no other reason than they're above everyone else.

Typeline wrote:No one likes Ultramarines

I do.

Guess that makes you wrong then.

Typeline wrote:They are just really stupid.

An astonishing level of intelligence in that sentence there. They're 'really stupid'.

I don't even know what that means. When did they become the biggest thread to Chaos?

Khor'Ghurneth wrote:And who here is saying Ultramarines because they are the "straight-laced, dull, vanilla" army?

Opinion. Not fact.

Besides, Imperial Fists are more straight-laced and vanilla than the Ultramarines.

But yeah, this just boils down to tall poppy syndrome. If all the studio armies (and box/book art) were painted up as Blood Angels, everyone would be saying Blood Angels now.

Tall poppy syndrome is where everyone gangs up on the big guys because we think they're too uppity. Happens a lot with movie and pop stars (eg if Kylie minogue was American, we'd never hear the end of her successes - even if was only hangnail removal. As aussies, we can accept her success, it's just that she doesn't have to continually bang on about it. So we call her the singing budgie in an effort to deflate the "big head" ego issues).Something we aussies seem to do naturally, and a concept fundamentally alien to Americans.

It's ok to be successful, but you don't need to go announcing it to all and sundry. When Americans get success, they tend to talk it up. We don't. If you do, we tend to character snipe to deflate your ego.

I'd wipe out the Black legion, myself. They've had how many goes at conquering the imperium and failed each time - I'd find another legion and try again with a group that wasn't so EPIC FAIL.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I always thought Ultras were the central Space Marine force. How are they different, historically,
(gak, I'm arguing fluff on the internets!) from the Imperial Fists? I'm not challenging, but
curious.

Otherwise, the next best thing is to go for the weakest Space Marine Chapter, and I
don't know, fluffwise, what that means in the suspended game world of grimdark.

H.B.M.C, apology's.

I figured, as Abaddon, people would want the biggest threat gone swiftly. I always forget things tend to fall to popluarity contests.

As it is most have an oversaturation of Ultramarines, leaving them jaded and disinterested in the whole force.

Lets try and get some decent reasons here shall we, or at least honest ones.

This would mean going after the Scythes of the Emperor(they have little more than a Company left, IIRC, as compared to 300 or so Crimson Fists).

Unless the inverse ninja law applies to space marines though.

I suppose, logically, if Abby was to wipe out a chapter it should be the Grey Knights.
