Simple question, I suppose. I've never been able to find a definitive answer to this one. TT of course, since fluff would be impossible to chart out, but what do you find as the least played army? Leaving off the obvious squats for obvious reasons.

I don't know, does that still count? I mean, Kroot Mercs are strictly no longer legal (right?). If we use tournament-illegal armies, we would need to include Squats and Zoats as well, eh?

Anyway, I voted for Demon Hunters. I have never seen them ingame.

TYRANID ARMY and more for sale. Many Price Drops. 40K and More.

I voted for Dark Eldar, because I've only ever seen one person with a Dark Eldar army, no matter how many times I've been to my FLGS. They also seem to be the least popular for my FLGS to stock.

It's a shame, really.

Though I guess the only reason I encounter Daemonhunters on a regular basis is because my friend plays them (I think he bought them in 4th Ed just to spite me, and then look what happened).

I have NEVER played against Tau.

I might have included some Codex specific chapters and thrown in Deathwing/Ravenwing. Obviously, space marines are out of the question here

Yeah, I don't even know why you put Space Marines on the poll.

I vote Other.

Along with the major races and species, there are a number of smaller races and species. Not all of these are active within the game, but all play a part in the history and storyline of the game.

Abhumans: descendants of humans, modified in various ways by mutation and the environmental conditions on the planets on which they have evolved.
Includes:
Beastmen: a human sub-species characterised by bestial features, normally heads and legs.
Ogryn: a human sub-species characterised by larger muscles and smaller brains.
Ratlings: a sub-species of human who are short and specialize in sniping.
Squats: a race of short humanoids who are believed to have been destroyed by the Tyranids.
Barghesi: aggressive race near the Grendl stars. No other data is known.
Caradochian: winged race often appearing as mercenaries.
Chuffian: use a characteristic Power Maul weapon. No other data is known.
C'tan: the race worshipped by the Necrons.
Demiurg: a race of short humanoids, allied with the Tau. May or may not be related to Squats.
Daemon: foul creatures made entirely of warp material. The favourite servants of the Chaos Gods.
Drugh: large larval invertebrates with advanced psionic capability. Stem from the world of Pyrus I.
Enslavers: parasitical warp-based lifeforms that look for psychic hosts to transform into living warp portals.
Galg: green, scaled, frog-like creatures rumoured to be Tau-allies.
Galthite: xenos from the Oenorian Inner Systems.
Hrud: a rodent-like species.
Jokaero: resemble orangutans. They are famous for their instinctive technical brilliance.
Kathap: a race using what appears to be organic weaponry.
Khrave: alien mind-eaters.
K'Nib: described as "festering clawed fiends", have 10 limbs.
Lacrymole: a race of shapeshifters.
Loxatl: amphibian quadrupeds who communicate through infrasound. Grey-skinned and foul-smelling. They are known to smell like rancid milk and mint.
Nicassar: a psychic race allied with the Tau.
Necrontyr: the race that became the Necrons.
Nekulli: little known about the Nekulli race, apart from their Whisperlance technology.
Old Ones: an ancient race who fought the C'tan.
Psy-Gore: from Perseus; makers of crystalline firearms.
Q'Orl : an insectoid species, whose empire is centred on the swarmworld of Loqiit.
Scythian: martial species devoted to the art of combat.
Slann: an ancient reptilian species, connected to the Old Ones.
Tallerian: reptiloid mercenary allies of the Tau.
Thyrrus : a squid-like race with colour changing skin.
Umbra : a species of floating spheres with a hard, black carapace.
Viskeon: huge muscled humanoid creatures, when part of their body is cut off, a fetus forms from it, feeding off its nutrients to eventually become a fully formed Viskeon.
Xenarch : an isolationist, warp-worshipping species from the Galactic north.
Zoat: large, strange, centaur-like creatures that were conquered by the Tyranids. The Zoats were used as a slave race for the hive mind and its followers, and many revolts by the zoats (brutally put down by the Tyranids) led to the near extinction of their race. Eradicated by the Imperium upon their arrival in human space.
In addition to these, there are many other races that were wiped out during the great crusade.

Thanks, Grot 6, that was mostly (but not completely) useless. I think CronsDisease meant armies for which there are rules. Pretty much by default, the races you listed are all pretty rare to see in play (although Col. Hammer has a pretty cool Hrud warband and I've considered making a Hrud proxy army using DE rules).

From my own experience, I really haven't seen many SOB armies. I think a lot of folks shy away from them due to the all-metal nature of them - heck, I know I do!

Aside from the fact that I said TT, which I thought was universally known as table top, is Xenology considered canon?

Yeah, I don't know about SOB being more popular than DH - I see a lot of GK armies out there, particularly among noobs.

I voted Dark Eldar. With an outdated codex, outdated models and a steep learning curve, I don't think I've seen anyone play them irl. Like, ever. Even our FLGS' "tin collector" (too much cash and allergic to painting) never bought anything even remotely Dark Eldar.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I've seen everything in person except Dark Eldar. I think they would probably be the least prolific race as well. Eldar reproduce slowly and they are too into S&M to actually make meaningful sexual contact.

I voted CSM. As far as I'm aware, they are the only unrepresented army from all the people that come to the gaming store. I've seen Grey Knights, Sisters, Daemons, even multiple Dark Eldar. But no CSM.

Which is weird, cause the last group I left, half the people had a CSM army.
