Hopefully it'll have less to do with the rules and more to do with a shift in flying bases for everything that uses them. Both the current flying bases and the hexagonal ones of yesteryear are all horrid.

A 'cross' is far sturdier than those pathetic little pins, especially when heavy metal models are concerned. Imagine how much more stable the Fire Prism would be with a base like the Valk's (maybe not as high, but the same 'X' pattern).

As far as flyers in 40K... well... Planetstrike is coming. It'd be a waste if they made this base for a single model...

i agree, much better design.
allthough to fit these on a prism or the likes it will need cutting shorter
not only that, but you would need to cut the X into the base of the model to make its connection stronger.
(or maybe 5 small pins in the top of the X rod and the vehicle.

Perhaps the new Dark Eldar Raider will benefit from this. The old one was very poorly designed in this area. IMO anything bigger than a jetbike needs this.

Yeh i plan on gettin many of these as i collect navy. It seems good and sturdy and it dont look stupid.

Good stuff in my eyes. At least this thing doesnt look like its gonna break at first sight.

If you look at the sprue on the back wall of the case in the pic you'll see the bottom plate of the valk (Lower right hand corner of the sprue, it has runners for the doors on the sides).
Judging by that the "super(x2) cool(x2) flying X" is going to have 2 pins at the top.

To be honest I (hope/)think It'll be socially accepted to use these and cut them to whatever length you want...

So imagine my wave serpents will be set on different heights...

Since you can't change the height during a game your equally visable to the things your shooting....

Valkyres will be a transport option for guard.

I hope its sturdy. Every and I mean EVERY one of my flying bases are bust!

I wish they'd had these bases when BFG was still being supported as a 'core' game.

I don't actually like the base that much, I'd much prefer to replace the 'X' thing with a perspex, strong and far more discrete.

A new flying base got me almost as excited as seeing the Valkyrie itself. Ever since GW switched their stance on bases, they've really needed to come out with a better product. If you're going to force me to include what comes with the model, then make it something usable. Hopefully, now they have.

So we get news of a brand new flyingbase and the plastic valkyrie is confirmed. Grand.

I will wait and see how the Valkyrie builds. Hopefully it will be all nice and sturdy for my Storm Troopers!

Well, no GW plastic kit has ever been exactly flimsy. I suspect the Valkyrie will be as sturdy and gamer-proof as the previous vehicles.

Id just settle for a rule that says how high skimmers are supposed to fly so I can stop watching Fire Prisms get hull-down from grass on some days and see over 1 story buildings on others.

This new base looks very high up indeed, should be fun to see how folks validate bringing them down to 1" off the table on a city board.
