As a new user to the forums I thought I'd start things off w/ a "bang" whilst on my lunch. Having seen it in White Dwarf as of late I thought I'd throw the topic here for our amusement. Over the years I've seen my fair share of models; some good, some horrible. So, what's your call? What models do you love, what models do you absolutely love? Whether they be appearance or assembly, it doesn't matter.

Love - The new Hydra. Absolutely stunning piece, and surprisingly easy to put together, unlike it's predcessor.

Hate - Empire Knightly Orders. Good enough when they came out, but seriously looking aged now.

Beast of Chaos: Shaggoth / Plastic regiments ( dis: the metal ones )

Bretonnia: ....... trebuchet / pegasus knights i guess... ( dis : the rest lol )

Demon of Chaos: All new korn units looks great / daemonette hmm.... could be better ( dis: everythign else )

Dark Elves: All new plastic are super! especially the DE cold ones! ( dis: harpies / all the new chars are ugly )

Dwarfs: hate them all

Skaven: Gutter Runners love the variety and pose , warplock engineers , last edition rat ogres , rattling guns ( dis: new plastic ogre , globadier too old , warp fire too old )

Tomb Kings: Not bad i like the over all designs especially the ushabiti ( dis: the skeleton horses looks way too outdated )

Vampire Counts: Love the new plastic skeletons / blood knights / grave guards ( dis: rest looks mediocre )

Warriors of Chaos : Chaos Knights / Marauder Horsemen are gorgeous models ( dis: warriors not enough pose, lack of weapon option / chosen are silly looking )

Wood Elves: Like all the plastics. ( dis: wardancer have stupid pose / eagle riders er...... no )

Loved: The Ash Waste Shaman from Necromunda, the ugliest model they ever released

Hated: Plastic Catachans. Great idea, nice models, but they got the scale all wrong.

Love: the death jester from the harlequins - just a brilliant piece.

Hate: the masque - for a daemon special character, she's a pretty crap model.

Like: Entire Imperial Range (Minus Ratlings and scouts)

Beast Herds: IMHO the coolest models. Ever.

Orks: Pretty much everything but the new stormboyz and Nobz. They don't feel right.

Tau: Only the Firewarriors and Kroot.

Necrons: Everything, really.

Daemons: Everything but the Slaanesh models (not including The Keeper of Secrets, that model is awesome)

Dark Eldar: People complain about it, but I like it, personally.

Eldar are just awesome.


Hate: The Masque, That thing looks awful.

Space Wolves: Their heads look too cartoony to be taken seriously.

Lizardmen Cold Ones: While the Dark Elves get awesome mounts, we get a Retardosaur.

Brettonian Peasants: Ugh. They look awful.

The Old vampire counts: The characters looked awful and so did most of the range. The newer one isn't that much better

funny, I as just having one of those nostalgic moments when I found this post. One of my favorite models ever were the original 2nd Edition plastic Tyranid warriors. absolutely brilliant multi-part plastic kit well ahead of it's time. I was really sad to see them go.
