I often hear of a cheese chaos list which involves something refered to as a "lash" and sometimes I hear dual-lash but I may be incorrect,
could someone explain to me what this "lash" is and what it does.
Thank you

The power "Lash of Submission" for sorcerers and daemon princes of Slaanesh.
It allows you to automatically move a unit 2d6 inches, usually to put them into close combat, out of close combat, or to bunch them up for blast templates.
It's very underpriced for it's ability, which leads to most "competitive" chaos lists having both their HQ choices take it, and stands in contrast to the other, somewhat lackluster chaos powers.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Lash=Lash of Submission
It's a psychic power available to Slanesh Daemon Princes and Sorcerers.
It has a range of 24" and allows you to move an enemy unit 2d6 disregarding difficult terrain. Unit must take a pinning test.
Dual lash refers to using 2 such HQ choices.
EDIT: Damn it. Too slow!!!!!

No worries. The gak who wrote the codex decided to make the most overpowered psychic power in the game since vortex of doom the cheapest power in the game.

Note that you can't actually move them in or out of close combat, due to the 1" restriction - you can move them closer to be charged, or farther so they can't charge you...

Those on the OTHER side from the sorceror - that's why it's so powerful.
The real cheese combo is to use Dual Lash and Obliterators.
You pick an enemy unit, and move them right up close to each other, then use the Obliterators to Plasma-Cannon them (and hit tons because of the stacked blast markers)

The Lash of Submission can only used against visible non-vehicle enemy units.
So if the target unit is out of range, out of line of sight, occupying a vehicle or building, the power is useless.
Likewise it's useless if the caster is in close combat.
Not to say it isn't a worthwhile psychic power to take, but just that people tend to vastly over-rate it.
Basically if armies including the Lash of Submission are giving you trouble, it's because you're asking for it.

Ah, right, I meant you could effectively get them into close combat or away from it with the lash. Not that you can actually bring them into or out of it.
A significant distinction though, thanks for catching it.

Not to nitpick, but no one has mentioned it yet. It does require a psychic test to use, so it's not an automatic use. Certain wargear can make using this difficult.

That's not nit-picking. Details are important. It's also worth mentioning what sort of wargear makes casting more difficult:
Inquisition: Psychic Hoods
Space Marines: Psychic Hoods
Eldar: Runes of Warding
Tyranids: Shadow in the Warp
What have the Imperial Guard got going for them, psychic defense-wise these days?
Armies without specialized psychic defenses include Chaos Space Marines, Orks, Tau, and Necrons. They have to shut down the Lash of Submission the old fashioned way, by occupying vehicles/buildings and then fragging the caster.

I knew I would face a twin-lash army in a recent tourney, so I took a null rod for my =I= lord. Given that he also had 2 mystics and 3 weapon servitors in his retinue (and a psychic hood - to attempt to block power use NOT directed at him), this was a large pain in the butt for him.

One more thing to add: a while back some people tried to perpetuate a meme by which the Lash of Submission would be referred to as 'Fzorgle'. The usage never caught on since this was asinine. Nonetheless it's useful to know if you're using the Search function.

There's only one solution I can see. I have to make a Battlewagon with a Deffrolla, a KFF Big Mek and a mob of Burnas and call it "Sykik Deffense'. I mean, my Red Trukk managed to run over a Nurgle Demon Prince last game, so the Sykik Deffense should be able to krump a Lash Prince or two.
One more victory for the time honoured Orky strategy of kills dem till dere dead.

And not that it's a general psychic defense (although the new PBS will also help against Dual Lash), but since it only works on non-vehicle enemy units, mech IG can just sit in their Chimeras all day long and ignore it until they get cracked open.

No, I did not answer my own question, since I was asking about lists. I'm not familiar with the new Imperial Guard list, so I don't know whether they have any indigenous psychic defenses or not. That's why I asked.
So do the Imperial Guard have any anti-psychic wargear in the 5th edition list? I've read things about psyker squads or somesuch, but nothing particularly descriptive or insightful.

As I interpreted it, the question was whether the new IG Codex has anything even remotely comparable to the existing Allied access to a Ld10 model with a Psychic Hood.
Actually, then question can even be whether they kept par with their previous token capability (1/6 chance of Psychic Ward for single unit)...
In both cases, the answer is a resounding No.
The Guard got nothing.

I haven't actually played the current ed. of 40k at all (one in-store game vs. store worker and his Tau) and then I didnt play with my CMS seeing as how I realized they changed the codex and pretty much fethed up my well themed (not a cheese CSM army like you could create with the old codex) so I havent even bothered to buy the new codex...
Ah sorry, the question; So can you apply the lash of submission upon units riding bikes, etc.?
