I was chatting the other day with a new member of our gamming circle. Known him a few years now but he only recently joined us for some Dark Heresy...

He braught over a small green stuff "Armadillo in Marine Armour" made for him by one of the Perrys when he worked there.....
But the best anecdote.... John Blanche used to be his lodger and paid him rent (In a Bohemian manner) with paintings!

And I thought the wifes was the best up till then... her sister nearly married Richard Halliwell, and supposadly lent him the money to get Warhammer printed!

Me... I aint got one... unless you count that I met Paul Bonner once.....

So whats your's?

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

I met Marijan Von Staufer in my local GW (he wrote Liber Chaotica Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch) and he signed my Liber Chaoticas for me.

And non GW related, I've been kissed by Dannii Minogue. Just on the cheek like, but still closer than most males will get to scoring with a Minogue...

Who's Tara Patrick, you ask? Look here.

Yes. Really.

As for gaming anecdotes, Jon Pickens (a long-term editor for TSR) is my uncle. It was nice to get gameplay questions that arose during game by simply picking up the phone and asking the guy who helped put it all together.

None gaming related, but...

My wife's friend used to do Kevin Bacon's hair.

I once sold a book on bowling to Ryan Phillippe. He was smashed at the time.

Working at Barnes & Noble was a great way to meet famous people. We did signings and release events for all kinds of folks. Jimmy Carter, Hillary Clinton, John Lewis, Margaret Weis, and Ty Pennington are the ones I can recall at the moment.

Ty Pennington was smashed for the entirety of his signing event.

I got to show Dave Arneson the boxed set of D&D 3.0 when it was released at Gen Con 2000. Also have an autographed Gary Gygax clock; when he signed it he said "This is fun!"

Got to try on Ray Nitchke's Superbowl I ring. Met him when I was 8. Was a bodyguard for Bob Hope for a day and have a pic to prove it (I was at the ripe old age of 17):

I shook hands and briefly chatted with Chuck Yeager when I was 13. Also had a friend who was personal friends with Alan Greenspan. Both equally unimpressive, but I've not been very impressed with celebrity anyway.

(But kudos on Miss Electra!)

I work at the sigh school that Kiefer Sutherland attended. He comes back every year to do a talk with the kids. I met him when he came last year. He's a total dick.

My dad worked at the high school that Keanu Reeves attended. He doesn't go back to do talks or anything (and rightfully so, the school is a hole), but he did go back right after he filmed the first Matrix for some documentary, that's when I met him. Pretty cool guy.

My aunt went to high school with George Lucas... speaking of him she said, "He was what your generation would call a nerd back then. I didn't talk to him much, which I regret now, since I love his movies."

I've only had satellite brushes with the rich and famous, other than meeting Tori Amos prior to one of her concerts, hanging out with my personal hero Victor Wooten (of Flecktones fame) several times, and spending most of the day with members of Arrested Development, Tool, Primus, Fishbone, and several other bands at the 94 Orlando Lollapalooza. The group I was with brought a basket of goodies and word got around backstage after the old guy from AD was seen with a brownie.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Had a book personally autographed by Elaine Cunningham, who I used to chat with frequently 12+ years ago, when she was a NEW TSR author.

When I worked in a Hospital, I helped Jack Buck (St. Louis Cardinals announcer) go from his room to get a procedure.

I met a guy while I was in Louisiana on a trip to help re-build after hurricane Katrina, who was an ex-boxer. He said he was in the ring one time with Evander Holyfield.

He said his manager told him to throw the match. And he did because he was afraid the manager would hurt his son.

Anyway. Not gaming related or anything, but that's about all I've got. Although I did meet Tipper Gore (Al Gore's wife, lol) when I was younger. Though that's not something I'm incredibly proud of.
