We have all seen hockey, baseball, and basketball fights, has anyone ever witnessed or been party to a fight over our little toy soldier game?

Just curious.

I personallly have never seen it but I have seen dice thrown.

Yes, I recently gave a chinese burn to a friend when he finally came out and confessed to using a Vulcan He'stan/Sisters combo at a comp against teenagers.

Well, once, another gamer came up to my miniatures case, said something was cool and took it out to look at it without asking me. I told him thanks but he should ask first before reaching into someones case. He thought he would be smart guy and started touching the piece over and over to be a jack ...

So I punched him the neck, and he stopped.

Nah but I have seen minor physical alterations break out in a store

My group assaults eachother over 40k all the time. Punches, kicks, glares.

It's all in good fun though.

hmmmm yea rest assured if anyone punched,kicked,pinched me over warhammer or any associated TCG,RPG, or board related wargame and computer game I would make sure it would be the last alteration they would have for a long time.

because face it......why?

I've heard a lot of physical threats thrown around by socially awkward gamers, but never actually seen it come to blows.
I did encounter a guy who was telling other people at the store that he would 'show (me) what he could do in the parking lot', after he marched his poor tau army *forward* into the maw of my tyranids and quit on turn 2. I imagine that could have been interesting as I've never had a grown man cry on me in a parking lot, but nothing ever happened.
Reminded me a lot of highschool, good times.

The worst arguement I ever saw was in a 4rth edition game where one member used a custom and very large base for a deamon prince. The owner (who was over 40 by the way) of the Deamon Prince got so mad that he took his model and smashed it against the ground by the other player's feet and then stormed off.

Apart from that time where I rolled 18 1's and everything went black I came round and everyone else in the shop was dead with a dice stuck in each eye socket I've only ever seen violence one.
Someone picked up, without permission then proceeded to drop a Forgeworld Thunderhawk.

Now the guy was understandably annoyed and demanded the kids dad pay for the damage. The dad agreed until his was told it was the best part of 400quid. Pushing and such ensued. Dad and TH dropping child left. GW Store compensated the lad for his thunderhawk

It certainly lacked discretion, but the guy stopped and didn't think it was funny anymore after choking for a while. I was in my twenties then.

I think today, I would handle it differently but it did happen. I have never seen the guy again, not sure I would even recognize him.

Oh, you struck at his wind pipe...now I get it. Kind of a dangerous move though as if you strike too hard you could break a man's wind pipe.

I came close another time at the Gladiator years ago. After a variety of issues, my opponent switched some models with plasma pistols from the back to the front of his unit during the shooting phase when they were out of range (in V4) and tried to take the shots. I confronted him and he said, "show me in the rules where it says I can't do that".

I replied, show me in the rules where it says I can't sweep your crap off the table, kick your ass, and fill out the score sheets as me winning and turn them in? My nearby friend told me later he was ready to seperate the two of us, if things went poorly.

Ah, to be young and hot headed again, I don't play in the gladiators anymore.

I was playing a game- My Latd vs. his blood angels. I played horde mutants and a couple basilisks. A couple times during the game I asked him about his coherency as he was trying to avoid the pie plates. I have basic social graces so I know when I am being rude, but this time I was delicate and polite.

After the game, he was all angry telling his club buddies I accused him of cheating and how cheesy I was. I was warned not to go near him because he might get ugly. Really, over a mini game?

Another time I had someone fuming because I asked to check the rules about tank shock and close combat. He tossed the rule book on the ground and stormed off. One of the other gamers try to calm him down to which he replied "Touch me and you'll pull back a nub."

Oh, it was but it's not wise to giggle openly at an angry gamer that has nothing to lose.

neck punch: a direct punch to the wind pipe or top of the spine. can kill easyly.

imho i dont whether to congratualate on not killing him or not.
sigh im a red belt in shotokan karate and i have only seen a neck punch once. an ambulance was needed.

me though ive only seen vilonce over toy soliders.

Ah, I've been hoping for a post like that. Now I get to gloat about my Yoshukai karate black belt.

And I can personally say that Neck Punch pales in comparison to the awesome powers of Neck Nukite.

Ok I dunno some of these stories are pretty good but I do believe I have you all beat the following are 3 stories about 3 different gamers that I have had the "pleasure" of dealing with, 2 of them are generally very angry and the other is essentially a poor sport.


A guy I know plays guard and dwarfs and freaks out anytime anything starts to turn against but stuffs it in your face when hes winning. I have been witness to him throwing models and dice. One day he was fuming about how overpowered the lash of submission was and how this 12 year old kid who hasnt had his balls drop yet (hope thats allowed to be said on the forum) is cheap for using it on him that me and my other friend made a song about him it was hilliarious.

One of my other friends was playing bretonnians and had been winning against all of us for a very long time his luck was amazing ( he had been given an army to get him in the game as well as had a list built) and slowly his luck went away and he started to lose because he never adapted to the tactics where as the rest of most assuredly adapted to his tactics. In the end we were finishing up our mighty empires campaign and he was losing badly and half way through his game he got up took all his models and in a gesture of returning them to the person that gave them to him he dumped them all in a pile and walked away. Very much a "I'm going to take my big red ball and go home now" scenario.

Now time for the ultimate in ridiculousness. I was playing my high elves against a friend of mine who is a very angry man has in the past launched a chaos knight across the room imbedding it in the wall and losing the horses head forever.He was playing chaos and as he began losing and the dice gods were not in his favour he got pissed off and launched at point blank range ever single one of his models into a wall.

This is kind of scary at the same time how some people rile others up to do this

Saw a game once, a friend of mine who had recently started playing was playing his Tau against another new guy, who against all advice I and every other person in the store had given him, had chosen Dark Eldar as his first army. around about turn three or so the Eldar guy was getting really ticked that the guys in the store were "Never letting his Warriors take their save" (the fact that he never used cover for them notwithstanding). He got really upset when the AP rules were explained to him for the eighth time, swept all of his guys off the table into a box, grabbed a double fistfull of fire warriors and crushed them in his hands, then stuffed them down the shirt of the Tau player before storming out.

Now, maybe it was a bad thing to do, but someone who was standing near to where I was (who I will not name) May have tripped the eldar guy on his way out the door so that his army got scattered all over the sidewalk outside. Maybe. Possibly.

The only time pugilism was demonstrated was once when some wacko in a GW store (I haven't actually been to one for 2 years, still counting) dropped my cousin's newly super-glued Valkyrie. It fell apart, and stuck itself back together again back to front, confusingly strangely.

My cousin asked the guy to pay for the damages, he refused, then when my cousin persisted, he punched him in the stomache and tried to run. Cousin rugby tackles him, he's banned from the store (avast!) and gets kicked in the face by my cousin.
