OK, I understand how annoying it is to have butterfingers drop your model or accidently put too much preasure and snap a model in half (happens to my models quite often)... especially when they touch your models without permission.

But in almost every case you can glue said parts back together, green stuff any gaps and repair the paint job. Even in the case of the freak incident of the valkyre being glued wrong, your cousin could have dumped in a pale of Simple Green and a week later the parts would no longer be glued to each other. Given this, I think it is a bit understandable why someone might gasp at paying you $100 when you could repair it for a fraction of the cost.

I can't say that I saw a fist fight over 40k....

But I did witness a brawl over some crab legs at the local Chinese Buffet, although we left just as the police showed up.

Many years ago, I had just finished painting a dragon for my Dark Elves. Remember the marauder brand metal dragons?

Anyway, the next day, I was playing a game against someone and this guy I knew came by and just picked up the dragon and walked off with it. I walk after him telling him to give it back. He refuses, to which I persist "Give it!!" (Hey, it's a valid follow-up when you're 12 )

So he just drops it. It shatters everywhere.

He sarcastically says "Ooops!" and turned to walk off, so I punched him repeatedly in the back of the head until he fell down. Store owner remained neutral, oddly, and I went back to playing my game, albeit with a pair of dragon legs and tail on a base.


Good times...

Painting a model with blood is stupid, it won't last.

Quick observation, most of these fights are taking place in America. ;P

Where do all these violent gamers come from? One of the gamers in the group I play with is a cop and several of them (I believe but don't know for sure) are former military or trained in martial arts, and I have a history of extremely dirty street fighting. If anybody tried to cause trouble at Tabletop, they would wake up in the hospital of the local jail. I have a record of about half a dozen wins and several hundred losses, and I've never so much as raised my voice at an opponent. It's just not that important. Of course, it seems some people have to make everything about them.

After reading these post I trying to picture some of these people at an anger management meeting.

Hot Head #1 "I am required by my probation to attend these meetings"

Hot Head #2 "I go to biker bars and start fights"

Hot Head Gamer "I threw a hissy fit when a 12 year old moved one of his squads of toys 7 inches, so I threw my toy men, of which I have invested hundreds if not thousands of dollars, on to the ground and stormed off after threatening to karate kick someone"

I've had my Ghazghkull thrown at me.

They call him killy for a reason.

I've never been witness to such a thing over a wargame. I once came close though when I was playing some french kids at the local club, when they started harasing me for being english.

Though I've never seen it even come close over the game, Or an argument that wasnt quickly resolved with pulling out the rule book.

This is the same post i made on the other thread but it seems to fit here as well!

My son (10) but very good at the game, was playing a guy at our local store who i had not met before. This guy is about 21.

This guys starts telling my son that his farseer must take a test as all the banshees 3 inches in front of him died.

My son tries to explain that the farseer is not attached to the squad. But this guy cuts through him and starts demanding that he takes a test. He then starts shouting at him!!

Im painting in the on the next table, I quietly but firmly ask him to stop talking to my son like that. He now starts having a go at me, shouting and waving his army about!

If the manager of the store had not come over at that point the guy would have ending up on the floor.

Know one bullies a kid in front of me - especially not my son!

Later he came over and asked to look at my models before I could reply his hand was in my case. Lets just say he wont be coming in the store again

This hobby does attract a lot of people who struggle to function in normal society!

Its not always the kids that are at fault!

On a side note I have once witnessed fisticuffs over a game of war hammer 40k. This was way back when i use to live in Quebec. Some worker at the local gaming store and a friend of mine (big fellow. needless to say he won the fight and got banned. Never saw him again after that.) Had a 2000 point game going. Now this worker had a chaos army and he armed his aspiring champs with lascannons. After my friend patiently tried to explain it to him 5 times that he could not do this ( I think they had a better bs or something back in those days) Decided to pack up and leave. Now for some reason, mainly the idea that if word got out that he was not using the rules properly and no one would want to play him. This store associate came over and demanded that he finish the game. Needless to say about 5 minutes later he was on the ground with a broken nose and my friend stormed off.

And that is my story.

Anyone who throws models or dice, especially anyone over the age of twenty, should be staying at home playing video games because they are no where near mature enough to be out in public.

There is one guy at my local store who is over 30, but must cheat in every game, even against 12 year olds who never played before.

I got stuck in a team battle with said kid who had never played before and had won 1000 pts of guard. Barely knowing the rules, he wanted to charge them forward into the maw of the guy's nob bikers. When I explained that wasn't a good idea and that he should sit back and shoot at them instead, the guy went nuts about how I should let the kid play and not try to teach him the rules or the game.

The guy griped every time I stopped to explain the rules to the kid, and then decided Snikrot had rending and could charge before being placed on the table. When I objected he asked if I wanted to step outside. We were about to throw down when the redshirt broke it up.

With the blood bezerkers thing though, there was a bloke at my local GW who glued his own teeth to the base of his tomb giant. No kidding.

And with the 'cracker' thing, it's odd, in England, cracker means something that's really good, a varient of cracking. ie. "Did you see that shot? It was a cracker!" "Yeah, he's a cracking batsman"

Many years ago during a game of second edition 40k two of my friends got in a physical knock down drag out fight over whether a template covered half a model. Including one of my firends monkeyflipping the other and doing a kip up.

It was like watching a reenactment of a Captain Kirk fight from Star Trek.
