More word on the Warhammer 40000 version of Mighty Empires.

"With regard to Planetstrike being released in June, the Planetary Empires expansion pack, which was seen at Conflict Scotland: 08, is finally due for release in July of this year- a month after Planet Strike I believe.

The box contents are similar to that of Mighty Empires, but obviously with new designs. It contains the same size tiles, but with ones for cities, add ons for hive cities and the like.It is designed for being used to map out campaigns, and is just a very nice thing to have as a GW enthusiast.

The boxset, along with all new tiles and new things to put in tiles. The boxset contains the new Planetary Empires rulebook - what was seen at Conflict Scotland: 08. All the changes needed - such as taking out the Baneblade artwork in the workshop - have been made."

~Look out map-based campaigns. the nice thing about this type of set, is that the hex-tiles and icons give everyone a consistant set of playing pieces and you can invent campiagns and special rules to your heart's content. The Fly Lords will almost certainly make a future campaign book based around these tiles for all you crazy map-based campaigners.

because I dont go to Warseer, and BOLS was the first place I saw it. and I didnt realize you could "steal" rumors from other people. If you care so much about where it came from, then maybe you should have started the thread earlier.

When you repost material instead of linking to it you are taking traffic away from sites that use the traffic and ad revenue from it to maintain themsevles.

So in this case BoLS is limiting traffic to Warseer by reposting their news and you are doing the same thing twice over by reposting this instead of just linking.

The entire community does it (except for Warseer AFAIK but they probably do as well) but that doesn't make it right or correct. I'm sure you'd get POed if you took the time to find some material and then someone just copied it onto their site and got traffic from it instead of you.

I just find it amusing as hell that all these sites steal content, photos and material from each other. It seems more like a hobby for some people than playing 40K :-)

I did link to it, thats why BOLS is orange at the beginning of my post. It is the direct link to it. guess I will go make it more obvious.

Don't sweat it, its a mistake. People get mad but its not like you were trying to step on anyone's toes, you were just trying to inform the rest of us, and we appreciate it.

And PS, you aren't stealing anything by any definition of the term that I am aware of. Content posted on the net is pretty much fair game.

Sounds like fun, but tiles? I guess I have to go and look and see how the fantasy version is run before I decide if I like it.

Why worry about rules for Planetary Empires? It's not like the rules for Mighty Empires were
all that. I think they were all of two or three pages.

I like the Mighty Empires map tiles. I didn't care much for its rules.

Any pics of the tiles? Hopefully they will all match enough where you can also mix in some of the fantasy tiles too like if you wanted to represent a fieldy or foresty area or something like that.

Doesn't matter if the rules suck, you can easily make up your own campaign rules and just use the tiles to build your map.

You can't steal a rumour. Someone finds out something juicy and everyone repeats it. Just life REAL LIFE.

I'm not going to check every 40k site out there every day for every 40k rumour. I'm glad someone repeated it for the Dakka community

Umm... anyway, yes. Planetary Empires. Sounds awesome. I love gak like this, and I want to do a proper campaign. I've almost bought Mighty Empires... twice... for this exact reason. 40K themed tiles is a great idea.

hopefully the tiles will be 100% compatible with the mighty empires tiles. The rules can be what ever they want them to be, I am sure that they will live in the box and never get used.

Planet strike is reputed to have rules for campaigns, so maybe that will suffice.

I specifically asked this question over at warseer and the ones who are in the know (I don't recall exactly who) said they are the same size and are compatible.

Rumours are rumours, not something that someone created, hence you can't steal it...

it's the same as gossip...

The whole idea of a rumour is that it get's mentioned somewhere and then spread fast and wide due to many people quoting th original source, but then they quote quoters, etc...

it's common sense.
