Word on the tubes is that the Plastic Trygon seen in the Apocalypse book is real and headed
our way, possibly timed for a release along with an updated Codex: Tyranids (next year).

Cite your source.

Or lack thereof, I'm not sure BoLS counts as a source.

Where are the Trygon stats located? In the Apocalypse books or in the FW books?

I'd love to see a source on this, BoLS isn't exactly winning the rumour credibility with these random blurbs.

There really hasn't been an official confirmation that I have been able to find, but it is somewhat implied.

I'd like to see a plastic Trygon - that'd be cool for conversions and such.

But if it's coming, when would GW release it? Planetstrike?

Does this mean we're getting a new Nids Codex in December or 2010???

Yes, though I find it pretty lame that it lost its previous abillity to immediately go into assault if it deep striked into enemy models. Instead it now rolls on the mishap table iirc. Apocalypse screwed up when they didn't make a caveate for warmachines and guargatuan creatures DS into enemy units. Should have been something along the lines of monolith...just move enemy troops 1" away, unless enemy troop is another warmachine, ect.

The plastic Trygon is as close to being 100% confirmed as any model can be without being announced by GW itself.

In this thread:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/234387.page

Moloch confirms that he currently has it, and I know for an absolute fact that he tends to get Tyranid stuff far, far in advance. You can even see the pictures of the plastic Trygon in this thread.

Beyond that, in this thread:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/232401.page

Brimstone also confirms that the Trygon will be coming out in plastic.

So in short, yes, the plastic Trygon is coming at some point.

I guess we can safely assume that when the Trygon comes out we'll probably get some new kick-ass rules in the WD or online.

I'm hoping it's a special release, and not a new Codex.

All I have to is: yay!

A cool all melee Tyranid monster that will probably not suck due to major plastic release and therefore a decent to good set of rules.

I think Brim said in the Warpshadow thread that he's going to be dusting off his Tyranids next year. Take from that what you will.

Personally, yes, I think all signs currently point to 2010. And I'm fired up for that, because I think horde/semihorde players will almost certainly get a lot of love.

Boy, I hope so, just because I think he'd know better than anyone the specific areas where the 4th edition codex went awry. Unfortunately, I fear that Phil K. being on the SW project means it might be with another designer. So it's kinda hard to know what to expect. With Phil, you know a book he's working on is going to be particularly characterful, with fewer extremes of overpowered units and underpowered units. None of them bat 1.000 in that respect, but Phil seems to "level" units better than the rest.

What's not nice is being an IG who's stuck with a Codex by him for the next 4-6 years.

Yeah now whenever a Codex comes up for review it'll just be a roll of the dice to see if Phil does it, or if Arby feths it up.

Thanks for posting that. I knew I'd seen it somewhere. Wouldn't be too hard to kitbash that into a Malanthrope with the help of some Carnifex bits and plenty of putty if one was so inclined.

Oh no, Forgeworld is perfectly fine for those of us who plan on paying a ton of money for a product that will take forever to arrive. There's a reason that they made a plastic Baneblade even though the FW version had been out for years and years.

Today I didn't even have to use my hot-shot las; I gotta say it was a good day.

If Tyranids are slated for a codex sometime next year will these be released to coincide with that? Does that mean the Trygon will be on the tables in regular games of 40k? Or is this a release on the scale of stompas and baneblades for games of apocalypse?
