Yeah I look at his stuff as good inspiration for any painter, because it is by far the best freehand example
I have ever seen on a mini. Think that eldar ship was nice, you should see his eldar titan.

Yep, Yellowone's stuff is amazing. Shockingly his titan didn't win gold at GDUK the year he entered it! To be fair, there was some tough competition!

YAY my paint suitcases arrived! Vallejo model color and game color. I had to get game color since GW keeps discontinuing colors. I also purchased ARMY SHADER dipping solution in all 3 shade strengths so I'll show the results from that in the near future.

I like the first one - the glowing green coming from the recesses I think you'd pull off very well.

I love the paint setup!

yeah 'the reborn' are described to have antiquated armor so from the looks it would be a metallic with tarnishing in the crevices. Would be fun and I like the bird head/wing skeleton insignia.

1) That is NOT a proper painting table. it is FAr too organized. LOL

2) RUN DMC = Winpopotamus!

3) Do the 1st one. the silver is boring, and red CSM are EVERYWHERE.

Yeah the red looked cool because compared to all the other drawings in the codex, its shine almost implies a silver base with a red glaze over it. Thats how I would do it anyways.

Well, this is my FIRST attempt at NMM technique and Ahriman volunteered. I think I have to study my lighting a little bit more. Cool effect but not NMM really.

Hope this helps LB , thing about NMM is , its not how much the natural light shades the surface ( or else its just normal surface not metalic )
Its how dramatically the metal surface reacts to the light source.

So i did a quick color change , its abit off since i only have mouse. xD

Thanx Luna, that helps. Looks like i just need to highlight with white and darken my dark areas. MORE CONTRAST WE SAY! lol Also I see white as the highest highlight and I hear that gold can't reflect true white.. me thinks I use off white or add a little yellow to it. Back to the paint desk

Yes its true gold cannot reflect into white (IRL ). But, then it would be true that black robes cannot turn into white either :"P

For painting purpose since we are creating artificial light, it can have our assistance alittle xD

Because i dont own the model, i have no way to tell if the surface are curved / or just shaped that way. So i basically went along with the shade you colored it.

But for the part that i do know for example the armor under the eye / above the cheek area . Should be the darkest since it curves inwards .

lol yeah I have 2 of the 005 pens, black and brown. And behind it is a Tamiya Weathering Stick, 1 of 4 that I ordered that wasn't on back order. Which reminds me, I'll be showing the results I get with the sticks and the weathering kits from Tamiya. I ordered all the sticks except Snow, and also have all 4 powder compacts inc.

brb, gonna base a Tau FW and see how the Army Shader Light Shade dip method turns out.

Steel Brethren look great
liked em since i saw that termie lord model.

allthough reborn could be amusing to paint, the green glow shouldnt be too hard to get.

sorry about bad pic quality, but a light glowing effect can be done pretty quickly using thinned washes over white

Before I read that you were doing NMM my immediate reaction was WOW HOW DID YOU DO THAT!

It looks awesome there - great job, extremely striking. Looks like real shining gold.

Here is my painting station (as well as my son's) setup on the kitchen table (as an abject contrast!):

I use to do my mini's at the kitchen table too I figure whatever works for you go for it. I need a dedicated paint area that I can leave messy and I only paint under florescent light. But a friend of mine paints sitting on the couch watching movies, and turns out great minis.

YES! It is the hardest paint scheme of the 3 but I think it would be fun. Gold/brass armor with green tarnishing! I love weathering minis
