Good stuff here!

I see you are also starting to get the too many projects on going problem which is also hurting my armies. Too many nice figs to paint

The warbosses skin is looking good, the rust on the dread could use bit of highlight, but the base coat is so close to actual rust color that it is difficult to achieve nice looking rust on that one.

I might be dumb lol I know 100% that every masters tutorial I watch they say, the more time you spend and the more diluted the paint is, THE SMOOTHER THE FINISH.

In one ear and out the other till now..

Had a busy day today but when I sat down I wanted to start the "Mad Eye Moody" look. Only got a couple minutes to paint and snap a shot but I had to show you because when I got his eye roughed out I laughed out loud! Though he looks a bit comical I can let that be the focus point. I love it lol.

How do paints etc go over the top of the pastels?

How do paints etc go over the top of the pastels?

Do you just push them onto the figure?

I don't paint over the pastels because it smears. If you're asking how it sticks, I just apply matte medium or matte varnish with a brush where i want the dust to collect, then with a separate brush I dab the pastel on.

You're stuff is so awesome...
And the rust idea is genius, I will be stealing it.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

Lol yeah take the idea.. that's why I post it. Every time I try something new and it works out I show you what I used and how it turned out. Usually ends up cheaper than the alternative.

A better way of doing it is to put the dust on then using lighter fluid to seal it.

You should get some mig pigments they are better than pastels. They are expensive though, almost ten bucks for something the size of a GW wash pot.

That's the dollar exchange rate hitting you. I paid less than 4 euros for mine.

About the MIG stuff, if you checked out the previous page, we were trying to find alternatives. Instead of using mig powders or tamiya weathering kits. This way is cheaper and has pretty much the same effect.

Also on a side note for weathering, if you got the Liquitex resin sand if you paint corners with it, then base coat it and hit the cracks with a dark brown/red wash.. looks like corrosion building under the paint before it peals back. I'll put pix up soon.

The Purge is a Chaos Space Marine warband. They despise life in all its forms and have waged war against aliens and mankind alike for 3000 years, attempting to exterminate all life in the galaxy. Where the Purge attack, famine and pestilence soon follow1. The Purge is known to have participated in the Antecanis Massacre in 165.M37 alongside the Black Legion and other warbands2. The Purge also participated in the Vaxhallian genocides in 926.M412, slaughtering 14,000,000,000+ Imperial citizens1.

Sweet. Are these the guys with the "weeping pus" leaking out of their armour? I'm looking forward to seeing you do this!

Great blending and weathering as always mate, love the smooth pastel tones on the dread.

I think you are thinking of "the cleaved". The Pruge just looks like they had black armor, painted green and have chips that expose the black.

CMD! Glad you could stop by! Yeah the airbrush helped a lot with the blending

Started messing with the purge scheme and while I waited for paint to dry, looked through the codex. I decided I want to slowly make one of each of the example schemes for the legions. Two stood out to me, Steel Brethren and Skyrar's Dark Wolves. VERY wip but I'll be updating daily now that my camera in back from being cleaned

TMT hey man, yeah the guy that did that one has a tutorial at miniaturmentor.com and I did my dread after watching it. I used all the techniques from it except the oil paint he used for the rust streaks. Looking at them together now, I think I'd get a B+ if it was a class hehe.

Sorry, haven't had a lot of time to comment on much on the forums lately, just getting back into it now. Yeah I'm planning on getting an airbrush at some point this year, I've seen plenty of people doing some superb stuff with them (yourself included!) and I plan on getting a thunderbolt at some point (just don't tell the missus!)

Those steel bretheren look cool, not sure about the other schemes though.

Cheers,

Dante

Yeah the airbrush is 'easy mode' for vehicles. Also I agree with the Steel Brethren. I love them, and very easy to paint as you can see lol. I really like Skyrar's but you have to see it with the red details, chaos symbol on right shin and insignia red wolf head. To tell you the truth I actually got side tracked again looking at my primed Cadian Command Squad and started laying on the base coats.

I went on coolminiornot.com and the #3 top painter inspired me to treat every model like it was a final exam. So my output will be smaller but the results will be fantastic. This is one of his models. Rediculous!

He has inspired me, maybe you also.
