If I recall correctly, get to a certain point with the Inquisition and the only difference repentance makes is whether your death is swift and fairly painless, or long and agonising.

Alright..I know that Humanity just wants to defend itself but why can't they get a real "leader" not a corpse...I mean, Chaos, Eldar, Necrons, Orks...everyone worships Gods so why can't humanity get themselves a God??

@idjet: I doubt that Tyranids are actually afraid of Necrons, but they certainly avoid them if they get the chance. They are smart enough to see that getting dragged into a war with necrons (an enemy that they can gain nothing from) is dumb. You can see as much from the new Nid dex.

because Chaos needs the other races to exist, like bacterias need heat and organic matter...

That sounds more like 'Nids and Necrons to me. I do not think that Chaos KNOWS that it relies on others to sustain it. Probably only Tzeench is aware of this. And needing something alive for sustenance does not stop from dominance or enslaving them. (Which they do quite often).

Chaos has been trying to achieve dominance over Mankind (and indeed the galaxy) for many Millennia. They've just been failing. Badly.

I'm a Loyalist Die Hard even if I have the dream of finishing to build my Thousand Sons army one of these days... BUT, I've read various codex, books and online discussions on the matter, plus some information on older versions of Warhammer.

Basically... the Imperium sucks. It's a tyranny covered up on religious beliefs, driven by an empty corpse that is full of uncontrolled psychic power that is useful just for the Navigators to wander in the warp.

The Emperor, was a tyrant and a liberator at the same time, when in an age where there were NO institutions, where everything was failing, he came and brought the hope of survival for the human race. Various texts report that the Emperor was just....human, so stupid and full of himself as anyone else. The stories regarding the various primarchs and what was happening during the pre-heresy timeline, should help on understanding this... he was no saint, no good man.

But he brought light, reunited the human race under one banner, gave everyone a chanche of survival in a universe where if you're alone you're dead meat. How could a system stand the assault of an Ork force, Tyranids or Tau without the support of an Empire ? You fight for Human Kind rather than for that empty shell on the Golden Throne.

This is for some specific SM Chapters (might be few indeed) and definitly for the Imperial Guard that usually is conscripted and trained directly on the planet where there's battle (planet defence force)...this means that you fight for your home, your family. I think it's good enough to stay with the Imperium. Plus, the way that Commisars administrate their command can't be that rigid. Sure, they can kill a horde of IGs retreating, but I wonder how many are killed by the soldiers.

In truth, many of the ideas behind the background might be misinterpretated. Who would stay and fight a Carnifex without heavy weapons ? I'd run and search for support rather than stay there and be slaughtered and eaten alive, and if I must, I kill the Commisar. Who would tell me something ? The comrades that are fleeing ? No, I don't think so.

Commisars are bastards, but are useful for discipline and leadership, being instructed by Schola Primogena (if I recall correctly) that gets just orphans and lost souls of noble families or known ones, gives you a picture of what are they.

The Emperor, from my point of view, is not a God at least not anymore. Once it was perhaps in the Rogue Trader era, but then it was changed and shaped in a way that now seems just a man went well beyond the age of his survival. Perhaps the artificial intelligence (machine spirit) connected to the Golden Throne, permits to the Emperor to have a sort of view of what is happening... who knows. He can't speak no more. For sure he's not fighting against the Chaos Gods... with all regards but he's a small fish even with athe lot of followers he has on many planets.
