It's good to see you back, AJ!
I absolutely love what you did with Krüger, the hacking/drilling with the Dremel really payed off. The GS ties the metal and plastic together nicely, I really like the way you sculpted the gloves.
Looking forward to see more, as usual.

Firstly, let me wish a Happy New Year to fellow Dakkadakkaites, and secondly let me apologise for the lack of updates. But I have just adopted a small black kitten who I am sure is the devil incarnate, so my time has been occupied with him and his expensive and destructive habits.
Recently the break over the end of year has left with some time to kill, and some spare cash - so I have poured some christmas cash into some new acquisitions. The first of which being below:
Ursarker Creed
I am sure most readers immediately recognise Ursarker, and can appreciate how much presence a Cigar smokin, dual laspistol and heavyily scarred cat like Ursarker offers. Unfortunately for him I had him ear tagged for a new Kommandant - so alas, I took to this brilliant little model with the trusty dremel.
Stage One
First stage was to grind out his grizzly little head and remove his left hand which was resting idlely on his left hip. Unfortunately, I ground down the neat little skull on the end of his sword, but after sizing up what was to fill the void that mishap would be totally obscured. Phew!

Stage Two
So, now we see the new kommandant taking form. His head has been switched with one of the HQ heads from pig iron (I love those guys!) and the previously poncey hand on hip, has been substitued for something a little more authoratarian. Now, Ursarker stands quite tall and casts quite a large form which in Necromunda isn't the best two traits for a figure to have, but what the hell! He looks pimpnickle.
Finalised - Herr Kommandant
Final stage was to apply some greenstuff to fill gaps, create kasrkinesque knee pads as well as the folds of his sash to cover said kneecaps. The chestplate was exceptionally hard as I was unable to file down the imperium eagle on his breastplate, so an incredibly thin cover of GS was used to fill that detail, and this had to be cut down once cured to resemble a standard Cadian/Kasrkin breastplate.
Finally, all the winged skulls and similar iconography were files down. I am yet to make him a badge to sit across the front of his officers cap, but am waiting on some "secrets of the third reich" field caps to come before I model that element.
So there you have it, the new leader to lead the 2011 roster of the Hunde des Kriegs.
Now onto some slightly less interesting stuff.
Juves
Juves. 'Nuff Said. I like the cup and saucer shooting stance the left most model has, although the officers caps look too similar to the Kommandant so will need to be replaced. I am sourcing some "secrets of the third reich" field caps from westwind studios to give them a more unique and less senior look. If anyone has any pics of these German field caps on IG I would love to see them.
Rhino!
So, I couldn't resist myself when one of these went on sale at a store in the CBD. but, upon dry assembling it I can honestly say the storm bolter was lacking in the old firepower department. That and in the Hive there are no storm bolters - there's probably no Rhino's too, but sssh! So at the same sale I picked me up a Cadian Heavy Weapons team and got to work shortening it, and modifying the ammo skip to sit alongside like the Mk.19 or the Ma Deuce.
Needs more gun
So after some runs with milluput and fine wet and dry the gun turret was ready for assembly. I am a particular fan of the ballisitic shield, which in my humble opinion is a necessity for the comparitively lightly armoured Imperial Guardsmen. That and the Heavy Bolter is kith and kin to the hive, and a personal favourite weapon.
The rules for vehicles and movement apply to the ashland part of the Necromunda world, and being it my friend and I play very much within the hive the agreement was for the Rhino to act as a piece of terrain for ambush scenarios and base camp attacks. So, it needed to be accessible, which meant hinges for every door in the rhino, which in turn I magnetised because it stops the doors flapping around, being snapped off and so on. It was fiddly but well worth the effort.
Now, this is still very much in it's earliest stages. With the doors and gun turret completed I went on to order some electrics and LED (light emmitting diodes) for internal and external lighting. It's pretty fidgetting, and with no real experience with electrics the whole process will be a steep learning curve for me. But, I will post tutorials on how to select your components (ie. bulbs. resistors and power supplys) and how to know what schematic will work for your solution, and finally how to wire the whole shebang together.
There you have it, the new team for 2011. New leader, new heavy and new juves.
For now ignore the rocket launcher wielding cat far right I will have some more updates on him as he progresses. Also, I have some Cadian Snipers inbound who will substitute my gangers as they become more apt marksmen.
That's it from me for the moment. As always queies and so on are welcome.
Take care of you and yours, and thank you for reading.

Wow, way to kick 2k11 off with a BANG!!! Loving all the work, Creed looks like a completely new figure, far better than the original sculpt now imo! The Rhino is also boss, ho did you hinge the side doors, they look like they could be petty difficult to do? The gun shield takes it up another level as well. If its going to be an immobile "bunker" how about some sandbags?? Also eager to see how the electrics come along, if you can pull it of it will look so good i cant even begin to imagine
Yet again.....WOW!

Everything's looking pretty damn good! The only thing I don't particularly like is the shaved shotgun barrel on the Kommandant. The model overall is incredibly cool, the missing barrel just bothers me a bit.
Also, I would really recommend a FW Repressor dozer blade for the rhino. It just feels like it needs one.

The Kommandant looks fantastic. Altough the Cigar really does look a bit weird on a model with a gasmask. Looks awesome, but just a little bit off.

Hi there,
I am long time lurker on your project and I must say: It's absolutey stunning. I love the unique looks of your minis and the excellent work with the Green Stuff.
I also like the way how you 'discover' the potential for conversions in your minis, i.e. the Trollkin-Ogryn work.
Really, really great stuff. Keep up the good work.
I hope we'll see more of this project soon.

Hello all and apologies for the recent void of communicado.
Recent family, work and estate developments have left me a little stretched for time, which in turn has had quite a negative effect on my ability to post as regularly as I'd like. But, rest assured I have been tinkering and have even managed to reanimate acidwap into getting his Escher gang up and running again.
It's currently quite dark outside and shooting under this light is wonky at best, so update shots are a little bit, errrmmm wonky?
So, as many of you commented the Kommandant looked beefy enough, but the stumpy ended shotgun looked a little odd. So with some cut sprue and some patience I remade the previous barrel. And to answer many of your questions the gas mask and cigar combo is odd to say the least, so I have filed down the textured end and will paint it up as a single shell - most likely a man stopper or something similarly vicious.
I used a Krylon black for the first time on the kommandant and am hoping that the over stippled paint will become less noticeable once I paint over it, I must admit though compared to the "cheap and cheerful" brands available at the local bunnings Krylon has failed to make grade - boo to you Krylon.
Now, as I touched base with more VIC based Necromunda players I became aware that the Bolter whilst cool is a weapon that belongs to a more mature gang. So, thanks to a lad at my work (shout out Scott!) I secured me a heavy stubber from a tank sprue and made the following heavy.
Some people say the gun is ridiculously scaled, but I say it is perfect! Heavy, mean and barrel fed death dealer - that will admittedly jam in my first few matches and result in me being hopelessly overrun by leather clad punk haired feminists, but hey what's table gaming if not an endless source of smack talk and frustrating landslides.
My apologies for the fuzzy photo, its hard to get a decent shot in this light and I promise I will post a full 360 degree shot when I get a chance.
Onto the next development!
As you may or may not know I use an ogryn bodyguard as part of my crew, and whilst pleased with his performance am frustrated by the fact that a team such as the Hunde des Kriegs who work as a set and very tight unit would never allow a dumb and lumbering quasi human to join their ranks, so I searched the interwebs for a substitute. Many different forges offered some great options, but I eneded up settling with the following:
Perfect! Why would a team like the Hunde des Krieg need an ogryn when they could simply put one of their own in power armour! This model for those who don't know is one of the Deathdealers from AT-43 bored out and fitted with a cadian torso and pig iron helmet to keep theme. It is very much in a "beta stage" but as I bulk up the armour and start casting resin reproductions I will post more photos - so, consider this a preview shot of sorts.
I am very much looking forward to the challenge of pinkysil, resin molds and so on. Additionally I have recently purchased and airbrush compressor, airbrush and quote keen to get some basic tutorials on the how to of purchasing and running a basic airbrush rig - nothing like LB or many of the other cats on this site of course, but still helpful none the same.
@Migsula The eyepatch guy has taken a back seat of sorts. I need to get some terrain CNC'd and some new players before I can field him. So many plans, so little time.
@Anung Un Rama Yeah you guys are right, the concept of a smoke and a mask is too odd - so I will make it a shotgun round, which should work I think and stay tuned on the tank.
@everyone else Thanks for the kind words, it goes a long way to keeping someone in the flow and mood
Thank you all again for reading.
Take care of you and yours
AJ

Great to see you back posting Jack! Understand that Real Life TM can set your modeling back a bit, I am running into that problem myself.
Like the power armoured trooper a lot, are you going to keep the canopy or remove it entirely so that you can always see the Pig Iron head inside?

This guy is one of two flavours available, the other being the closed lid all business variety. This one will be used in a sitting position that will fit into the back of the rhino, as if in a pre-deployment state sort of like the bipedals mechs are deployed in Gasaraki or similar Mech Anime titles. I hope I didn't show my fanboy colours there too much.
Anung Un Rama wrote:Don't get me wrong, the power armor dude looks really cool and even adds more to the Killzone vibe your gang has going, but it's a real shame you decided to ditch the fantastic looking brute you had before.
Yah, I did spend a long long time on that particular mini' so am equally reservered and reluctant to retire him. But, as you said he didn't really fit the gangs profile and he is awkwardly tall 2 inches + and in Munda rules that qualifies him as "large target"...bad mojo.
On a side note, if anyone knows a way of stripping back AT-43 figs I would be most grateful for any info or tutorial links. Similarly if anyone has any field experience with starting up with an airbrush I would love some advice and pointers, as it has arrived today and I am a little bit reluctant to touch it...monkey fear!
