Depending on what sealant you use and how well it takes paint, then giving a quick and light layer of sealant stops the primer coming off as you work on it. Be careful about the main colours themselves though.

Great work as always, and as for the rubbing of paint, i really gotta agree with blackhand, he needs to get on the base ASAP.

And yeah, where IS acidwap?

Thank you all for the feedback and comments. It would appear general consensus is to get the model on a 40mm base asap - consequently I have ordered one from the combatcompany along with some of the industrial bases for the other gang members. I assume superglue by it'self is not too strong so the plan will be to bore holes in his feet and run pins into the base, that are then crimped off and glued to the underside of the base.

Regarding Acidwap, being it he is a fellow designer who works for an incredibly busy design house his workload like mine fluctuates - this in turn ties up the hours he can pour into projects. We are still playing Necromunda against each other, and he chips away at his projects when he can. Actually, without revealing too much he has some wicked resin models, and some other cool figures from the game incursion which I am keen to see some progress on shortly. Rest assured he is busy, and has not forgotten the forum or it's many many users.

Anung un Rama, the skin tone I'd be going for is something that would fit with the rest of the gang I guess, and probably quite pale as I don't imagine there is much sun in the underhive so a Cali' beach tan would look out of place.

Stay tuned for updates shortly.

Take care until next time.

Where do you source your bits? Being an Aussie also, do you go through LGS or buy directly from overseas? I would like to know where to get the Pig Iron heads from locally if possible. Im doing an AdMech army.

Hello Readers and Ruffians,

I suspect this may be threadnecromancy (if that's spwlt correctly), so before I continue further please advise and I will give this the bullet and start a new WIP blog.

Well, after being dormant for the last few months I finally have had all my old rulebooks, terrain and necromunda cardboard cut outs (y'know the bulkheads and so on!) delivered to my new pad. And with work humming along and leaving me with more disposable income I thought it'd be time to dust off the old squad, make some new additions and convert up a new leader, heavy and some elite kit troops for the Hunde Des Krieg Mk.II.

Acidwap and I have agreed to reroll our old gangs and are looking forward to having those delightful few first matchs where no one can hit anything anything!

So, stay tuned for an update over the next few days as I will be purchasing a new cadian officer and converting him up for deployment as the new Kommandant.

Regards,

Archibald Jack

Never mind the threadomancy. If it's your zombie, it's ok.

I've been wondering where this thread went. Glad to see you back in the game... hobby at any rate.

Beautiful work! I like how you're keeping the theme to your gang. You've inspired me to rework my ideas from using a basic enforcer models to now wanting to mod cadians to make multipose steel legion troopers.

I'm afraid I may have missed it but did you give a recipe for that nice red?

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome back.

Let me get through the queries as best I can.

You do realize you're forced to make plague zombies now?

Absolutely. The plan is to introduce a handful of proxy mobs that are added to spice things up. Zombies, rats, scavvies the whole shebang. Should be fun.

I'm afraid I may have missed it but did you give a recipe for that nice red?

Well, it's just a few coats of blood red. Multiple thin coats give a smoother finish, and you can tone the darker parts with more control later. I then sponge with a 1:1 (black/dark grey) and add boltgun metal weather spots before washing with a 1:2 black ink and water wash to further the worn look. Then I highlight with blood red again. I like the results it gives, and as it is the most visually striking element of the uniform it needs the extra attention.

Acidwap has recently been focused on a table tennis contest, so the majority of his hours are spent on training. I was over at his the other day talking about 'munda, terrain and some new players from my work who are keen to start with us.

The terrain has been rolling along quite nicely. And as there are a handful of companies out there that have been throwing their respective hats into the terrain game I figured I'd at least attempt a "weigh in" over the next few weeks. The core idea is to create an affordable but visually striking solution for skirmish based table top games such as necromunda. The initial "pillar of khaine" idea has evolved into an entire set that is comprised of 3 different models. A primary tower with 3 levels, multiple platforms and points for airwalks. The original pillar of 2 levels with 6 platforms. And "the bunker" which is a single levelled structure that acts either as a point of cover or relay point for walkways.

I have costed a quote from a local company who said before we can even talk materials it's 120AUD to get the CNC jig set up for machining. Given the size of the work area I will only be utlising about 1/2 of the overall space, so I will have duplicates of the towers. So, stay tuned and I will provide some photos of the finalised pieces and will be selling some of them to cover costs.

Then based on the general demand, hours spent and issues involved I will either wade into the terrain making business, or stay in casual gamer land. Either way it should be interesting.

Now, onto the Hunde des Krieg.

I have acquired a Ursarker creed who is currently soaking in Acetone. The plan was to ground down his stumpy little head and right arm and fit him with a power sword and Pig Iron Officers head - though when he arrived I was reluctant to deface him, as well as field him on account of the fact he would be a constant bullet magnet based on his size. But, with his loyal Ogryn bodyguard that shouldn't be too much an issue. hehe.

Meet Kruger. He is the replacement heavy bolter for the Hunde des Kriegs. The previous incarnation was a space marine scout heavy bolter that had been filed down where possible and mounted with a Pig Iron head. This lead to two primary visual issues, in that he didn't match the rest of the squad and the heavy bolter looked awkward due to the magazine that hung from the underside of the bolter.

There was also the problem of his size and stance. His stance made it nigh on impossible to fire from cover or press up against terrain for concealed engagement, and whilst Marines Scouts are quite runtish compared to Space Marines they are quite bulky compared to Kasrkins. And in Necromunda bulky equals bad.

So, I took the trusty dremel to one of the duplicate Kasrkin grenade launcher models I hard and sheered of his arms, bore down his torso and removed the head. The Heavy Bolter used is one of a Cawdor Heavy, it had to be cut to allow the ammunition to slip around the back of the model into a modified grenade launcher drum pouch. I got the idea from the Spetsnaz guy in Predators, who had a similar sleeved back pack for his ammo...Man, am I alone in loving that film? Anyways, cadian limbs were shaved down and greenstuff gloves added to match the rest of the squad.

When I get some decent weather I will basecoat him and have some substantial updates for you all.

Until then keep well, and stay safe.

Archibald Jack

Beautiful, real slick buddy.
That H/ bolter is just the right size for him and the GS work is perfect as always.

Heavy bolter is looking good, it'll definitely fit right in with the rest of the gang. Looking forward to the terrain as well, sounds interesting!
