Guys, a day ago (while looking for parts to make a objective marker, I stumbled upon THIS!
<insert picture here> (will get pics tomorrow )
A few years back, I was extremely new to the game, and didn't know about objective markers (I still don't know what they do, but w/e)
I took a bunch of extra bits from my chaos tank spure, and the minion from the termie chaos lord, and made an epic little thing. Finding it now, I think it'll make a good objective.
Like I said, pics tomorrow.

Lucifer, Objective markers serve the purpose of somewhere to capture/control when playing appropriate game types.

On a side note to everyone: I thought of a new objective-based game type today where, instead of capturing objectives, you have to place and defend them. It would involve 3-4 objective markers depicting explosives of some sort, which the 'attacking' team would place and defend at specific points around a building, and the 'defending' team would have to capture and diffuse.

What do you guys think of that?

That would be interesting... and a total blood-fest as all the units in the game would be drawn to a single group of points. Very grimmdark.

An update on my wounded standard bearer for Gretar - still some cleanup work to do, but I've been busy with a commission (that this thread earned me) and a new addition to the family. But here's a pic of the salamander pauldron I've been working on.

Also, this isn't necessarily an objective marker, but it is a fun little project. I made the head over a year ago but couldn't find a use for it, until I slapped a bionic eye on him. This only has about an hour in it besides the head.

Looks good. If you want to trade marines, head over to the GMS thread and post up there.

Whale - It's not just a marine, it's my wounded standard bearer objective from page 5, it just happens to feature a marine!

Thanks Blackhand, that means a lot! I'm actually working on an Imperial Fists pauldron right now, it's a different take than the fist ones you made, but if it comes out looking anywhere near as cool as yours I'll be pretty happy.

Ahhh, my mistake. Being relatively new to 40k modeling, I'm afraid to say that I'm actually out of SM legs!! So until I bite the bullet and buy some bitz or models I'm kinda stuck in terms of actual marines.

I'm still waiting on bitzbarn to offer their grab bag so I can finalize an order (to save on shipping) so I can start stocking my bitz box.

If you like bitzbarn's grab bag check this out... http://www.thewarstore.com/product32719.html

I picked one up and it had a ton of fun bitz for conversions and kit bashes.

Gitsplitta's Objective in action!

Sad to say, merely being able to USE the Chaos Objective in a game did NOT guarantee success. It MIGHT have had the exact opposite effect.. I got roflstompeled.

COD anyone?

New missions are fun. Infact, I intend to at some point re-vamp the 3rd edition missions for 5th ed and play some of 'em.

So here is a WIP of my objective marker for my chaos/demons army. I have plenty bitz to make more. I'd be willing to make and paint and swap for some imperial-like objective markers

Sounds good, but what if the side setting them doesn't have to defend, but get away. Like a mad bomber evading the police, and as the chase ensues the bombs start going off! So the attackers could be Arbites going after some gangers. I like it!

As for my own objective markers, I did some more painting on the bases themselves... finally. Sorry for the wait. Of course my brush is toast now. I've been using the same one since I started on Dakka. It's down to two bristles, I think. So, I'm off to get a new brush and I should be able to finish them up today. If it works out that way I'll get them mailed later this week!

That is beautiful work TCT. Did you make your own skull pile or did it come that way?

I finally decided to contribute to this objective swap. I went for seasonal themed. The pumpkins are actually smelly-good things that I saw in the bathroom and HAD to use.

Lemme know if anyone is interested or wants more info.
