Subject: Re:Re:Would anyone like to download my band's album? It's free! UPDATE:30/03/11 - Some new music.
The film we made with the Leyland Brass Ensemble is finished, our label is now just finding a way to get it on the telly somehow. In the meantime, we put it up on youtube.
Here it is:
Also, we played at the launch of Taste Masters Vol. 2, the new compilation by the label we're working with:
The compilation itself is out to buy now via various online retailers - here's a link to it on iTunes:
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/the-laboratory-project-taste/id438363709 In truth, the quality is a little variable so I would give each track a quick listen to see if you like it before purchasing, as you can obviously just buy only the ones you like, if any.
The Dresden track is the one featured in the video, by the way.
Well I will litterally listen to anything with half a beat(as in I have military cadences on my ipod)so once I finish DLing it I will give my opinion of it, hopefully its good
Automatically Appended Next Post: Good soft music, however I am too trashed to really listen to the whole album

Okay I have just gotten around to listening to it, and I do have to say it makes me nostalgia pretty hard(alot of 90s music sounded like this). So all things considering I fething love it.

Brilliant mate, knowing you as well as I do I still cant believe that wonderful voice comes out of your mouth. It should sound guttural and ill tempered like mine!
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

It sort of sounds like a hi-fi 80's version of Coldplay. I assume that's kind of what you were going for, so I'll let you take that as a compliment. It's really not the sort of music I'm partial to, but I gave it an honest effort and listened to at least half of every song.
I do like the song 'Hospital' a bit, though the vocals are completely inaudible to me, and it still makes me feel like I'm a member of The Breakfast Club.
Even though Dresden isn't all that enjoyable to me, I still hope that you succeed. It's a tough industry, especially if you're looking to live off of it.

Not nearly as whiny, monotonous or annoying as Coldplay.
(For the record, Rush of Blood to the head was an amazing album, everything they did after that is kind of flaky and sounds generally the same. Viva La Vida was a decent try, but mostly because Brian Eno worked a lot of his magic, and even then, I wouldn't call that album entirely enjoyable, although Death and All His Friends is easily one of the best songs the band has ever been involved in making)
Anyway, FIBUA's really good, a very different direction, and a very good one. It's got some real power behind it, and is oddly danceable. It's definitely nice to see you guys trying a new style, and even better to see it work, really, really well. Granted, Cold Hands coming after it may not be the best choice due to their great contrasts in style, but it's still a solid track that harkens back to the style of your first album, only more refined and polished.
Although I eagerly await your next album, however it ends up being, I can't help but hope it ventures more down the vein of FIBUA over Cold Hands. Granted, both songs are excellent, but I feel that Cold Hands retreads over old ground, while FIBUA just opens a door to places that are begging to be explored.

I couldn't agree more, Fafnir - yes 'Cold Hands' is sort of going over old ground, but there are reasons for this, if you'll allow me to elucidate them?
Basically, we decided to part company with The Laboratory Project as we didn't really have a lot of confidence with the direction they were taking in several very important areas (which I won't bore you with) - the upshot of all this is that the version of 'Cold Hands' they put out (which hardly anyone heard the first time round, because....no, I'll rant.) has the brass ensemble on, and that's other people's work. We wanted to have a version of the song without it, so that if we wanted to put it on an album or something later on, we could without any legal problems. Anyway, we thought it'd be nice to put it on the free CD so that the many, many people who didn't buy the original compilation that it was on could have a chance to own it. Also, I feel that it sort of bridges the gap between the older stuff and the newer, more electronic stuff.
Yes, the newer stuff is closer to what 'FIBUA' sounds like. I would really love for you all to hear it, particularly 'Black Cloud' and 'Body in the Water'. The final recorded versions aren't ready yet, but we're recording the party next Friday....
I really liked FIBUA mate, your still the only band I "know" that is actually acceptable music to listen to in your car or something.
It reminded me a bit of La Roux with all the electronic sounding stuff, but mixed in nicely.
Decent though, radio worthy!

Fav part is at about 4:36 of the performance only video (the one without the "making of stuff") when you get caught up in the moment and let yourself get carried off by the music.
Good stuff...

Agreed. The best I ever knew, was a local band that played alot of cover songs. They were good, but I personally dont consider cover bands really that talented, only because anyone can be taught how to mimic another song

Agreed, cover bands are so boring, if I wanted to hear another artists work I would have bought it instead, play your own music. In the mean time I'm going to put a more honest effort into giving Dresden a shot
although I did enjoy FIBUA very upbeat and catchy. Not sure if it's my style though never been a big pop fan.

My fav is their remix cd? Its not really a cd is it? Either way, their songs remixed were fantastic and more to my liking. But I still throw on the original songs when Im wanting to just chill and relax

Due to the crap hitting the fan, i'm afraid I can't come down on Friday to see you live, but at least I have the free stuff on the website, so i'll be with you in spirit!
Maybe next time.
And there will be a next time.
Or else.

Im a little opposite. And I dont mean I like the remix far better then the original, its only just barely, and mainly because I love electronic music, so it gives those songs a little bump. Specially Hospital. I could listen to that song everyday for a month and it wouldnt get old
