Planks = Thick
Banged up = In Jail
Newsagent = Local convenience store
Tendeck box of fags = Cigarattes
Scratch card = Gambling card - scratch away a removable grey area and if what is present matches any of the predetermined set ups, you can redeem it for prizes (mainly cash).
Broke at the as well = Broke at the time as well - Lacking in funds at that point.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I disagree strongly, considering the most logical reasons for extermination of the species all involve Religion, If we rid the world of it, the chance of us all dying out is far more remote surely?
Can you ever see a war between any genuinely secular nations? Can you ever see the UK going to war with France again? One where we would use nukes or WMD's? The only first world country that remotely scares me is still the USA, and that's only because 40% of the country are brimmers with Jesus juice. The other 60% will keep them in check though. As long as places like California and Vermont exist, I'm less worried about places like Oklahoma and Arkansas.
What's likely to kill us all realistically? Far less likely than it kicking off with China and Russia or North Korea suddenly deciding to nuke everyone?
Simple. Muslim country fires nukes at someone, terrorists drop some crazy ass dirty bomb's, Israel tries to take its neighbours on, whatever. The point is, it all stems back to Judaism, Islam and Israel, fighting over some random bit of fething sand for illogical reason's. Same as they have for thousands of years, it's the gift that keeps on giving.
The nuclear deterrent has worked so well for so long because nobody really wants to lose.
But if your 100% convinced that getting killed is the only way to start the big party, that this entire existence sucks and the fun only begins when your 6 feet under as per "the big three" then we are talking about really fething dangerous people.

Not really. Its inevitable to species to die out and be replaced. We might not die out by religion or by war; but something; somewhere will inevitably cause the human race to die out.

Why is it inevitable? Just because it has happened before, doesn't mean it has to again. We have almost eradicated TB and smallpox, can treat malaria and sent a man to the moon, why do things have to be inevitable when we have made so much progress?

Its just really the cycle of nature. Take for example the concerns of Terraforming. If we don't leave our planet and terraform other planets for habitation...we will die by the Sun going supernova; but before that...our resources will be well run out.
Now; we have no idea if there is intelligent life out there...but many intelligent minds similar to Dawkins say that if Intelligent life was to exist...they would be antagonistic against us. Would humanities armies be able to stand upto an advanced foe such as that?
Then we have the cases of Superbugs and microbial/parasitic evolution which appear to be increasing with every year.
Either way; it stands to get more difficult as time goes on.

Some valid points, but feth nature.
We are of course entering into a debate that is just conjecture, is there intelligent life etc. I think its likely that it is staggeringly rare, maybe we ARE the smartest ones in the known galaxy, and it is we who are going to the be the resource sucking bad guys on Independence day.
I think that most Science fiction becomes science fact. If we can stop crazy bastards (usually Religious extremists) from trying to kill us all, its a perfectly logical suggestion that humanity endures, our increased knowledge and technology has hit such a peak that we CAN overcome our problems, superbugs, lack of food and resources etc.
You might be right, I might be wrong, but I certainly don't feel its inevitable we die out. Nothing is inevitable where we are concerned.
If we can drag the whole planet into the modern age, increase education and technology, slow the birth rates slightly and in my opinion, rid ourselves of organised Religion, our first and worst guess at an explanation for everything, then our evolutionary fear of the unknown and the dark will die with it.
We can endure, and we can thrive. I only hope that's the way it goes.
If I make it to 80, were all still around, and Religion has continued its downward spiral, I shall be a happy man, and I will feel optimistic for my species before I descend into nice, relaxed, ignorant oblivion.

I just read the bible, did you guys know that they killed off the main character? That was a bummer...
Anyways, people say God doesn't exist and others say that he exists while some d-bags like to get people on the other side to believe in what their side says. Atheists cite the Crusades and 9/11 as reasons for religion being bad and throw in the troubles of the world as proof that God doesn't exist and Theists use all of the good to prove he does and use things like the abolitionist movement to show good things that have come from religion. I mean its all a mixed bag, but people just need to stop publishing books about it and pretending that they may change someone's mind. I mean who's going to buy the books, Theists? No, the only people buying the book are Atheists affirming their belief that God doesn't exist, but I guess profits are all that matters.

That's not a gambler's fallacy. A gambler's fallacy involves assuming that, because a larger numbers of heads have resulted from tossing a coin, a tails becomes increasingly more likely,
You are correct though, one can simply choose to play different games, though doing so means that you will never win the game in question.
