Wow, now thats one hell of a cover. I'm assuming that it's Lorgar and Angron on it?

It's Logar and Angron tearing through some Ultramarines (in Mark III armor from the looks of it) while some other Ultramarines fight some incoming Word Bearers in the distance.

Hmm.... when did the world eaters and word bearers fight together against the ultramarines??? I guess we'll find out, unless it's in Know No Fear, which i haven't read yet!!

Really like the cover!!

I don't know where the cover seems to be set tbh, it's not revealed in KNF, so hopefully this cover will divulge.
Brilliant looking cover though, my only qualm is Lorgar's mace looks a bit over-sized and/or flimsy, but I guess it could be because it's intended to be two-handed. Fair ol' amount of blood off the impact too, but artistic license; it looks cool. Really good cover overall (particularly Angrons face).
Not too keen on the idea of more Ultramarine bashing though, to be honest.

I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Assuming this follows on from "Butcher's Nails" ( which it does) then they're not at or near Calth.

.. they go elsewhere.....

It's a very enjoyable listen indeed

A noticable improvement over his previous audio drama/story ( which I still enjoyed though one hastens to add).

Angron is suitably angry souding -- reminded me of Gotrek I think -- and Lorgar is suitably..... unearthly.

Dig the simple, wet, sound effects for when Lorgar hits ....... victims...... with his maul too.

I've always liked the Ultras and Roboute and now I like them even more.

I just wish there was more Roboute in KNF!

I have to say, Angron is looking much more imposing here than he does on the cover for The Primarchs, which disappoints me slightly - I liked the idea that Angron was so angry because he had height-related inferiority issues.

The UM on the far right actually looks like hes wearing a death guard shoulderpard AND targeting another UM?!
That maul reminds me of that "blunt trauma to the head" demotivational

Nevermind ... the "flying" UM seems to have an identical pad. Was the green border on the pads already in use by that time? Thats 4th company nowadays.

The Black Library Expo

October 6 & 7
Chestermere, Alberta

FULL LINEUP FOR THE EXPO:
Dan Abnett
Aaron Dembski-Bowden
Graham McNeill
Nick Kyme
James Swallow
Chris Wraight
Andy Smillie
Gav Thorpe
Tickets will go on presale Saturday 31st March at Chestermere Public Library from 10am. They are only available to those people holding an active Chestermere Public Library card, or an active membership card for any other Marigold system member library (full list here). We will then release them for general sale the following week.
Tickets are limited to five per person. It is awesome that so many of you want to buy more than that, but we think it's fairer to limit numbers.
Tickets cost $20, which buys you one admission for either saturday or sunday - not to both. Think of it like a tour; it's the exact same gig both days, and by doing it this way you've got shorter line ups for signings and more interaction on the Q&A sessions - although if you want to buy a ticket for both shows then we're cool with that too.
We're working with Black Library to finalise the seminar programs and put the finishing touches to the Expo, but if there is anything you desperately want to see happen ("How to write for Black Library", "Horus Heresy Discussion Panel", "opportunity to ask Dan how he sleeps at night after what he did to Bragg", etc) then drop me an email at BlackLibraryExpo@ChestermerePublicLibrary.com and I'll do my best to make it happen. In fact, drop me an email if you want to see a cosplay contest, demo gaming, or anything else Warhammer or 40k related as part of the event.

That's a pretty strong line up of talent their, well worth popping along if you can IMO.

This event is going to be stunningly awesome. They have actually been great to local events too! For example, for the event I am running Coulee Carnage, the organizers got us in contact with some of the authors. Now Dan Abnett and Graham MacNiell among others are sending us signed stuff to auction off or give away. Just absolutely awesome to deal with through and through. GW is sort of a pain, but the guys working for them are amazing fellas. The deal is I gotta take 'em out for beers after. My answer? "Deal!"

And yes, I want to see a HH Discussion Panel!

So why are Lorgar and Angron working together? Shouldn't Angron be on the opposite side of the galaxy at this point?

IIRC correctly Angron was sent to help out with that all before they made a beeline for Terra. Was in the super-expensive-awesome-limited-novella Aurelian if not mistaken.

... no

.. why do you think that ?

Post Isstvaan most of the Word Bearers set off for Calth/Ultramar, there to deal with the majority of the Ultramarines.

Lorgar -- who is now growing in both power and confidence as he finally steps up and assumes the mantle that fate has dealt him -- and some of his Word Bearers are sent off on a mission with Angron and Co. by Horus elsewhere in the galaxy. I think they're near the Ultramar region, that side of space anyway, but a fair old way from Calth.

IIRC there's about 5 years between Isatvaan and the start of the siege of Terra so there's a lot of ground to cover -- both story and travel wise.

I guess the Lorgar and Angron relationship explains why Angron would give Lorgar one of his axes, you know, the one talked about in Battle for the Abyss.

I always wondered why Angron would give Lorgar a weapon, they didn't seem to be likely bestest buds.

Just got an e-mail from BL and as part of their 15yr Anniversary, they're giving away a free Horus Heresy audio drama, "Sister of Silence" by Ed Knight. Had a listen to all ten mins and it's very characterful, everything you'd expect.

You know what, I'm actually surprised they didn't charge for it.

I mean, they're charging for desktop backgrounds, after all.

There's not exactly a whole lot of difference in my eyes.

One of the best listening experiences yet. They did try a bad April's Fools joke though with Rob Sanders being a good writer, but that one.. eh, poorly done and too obvious.
