Subject: 6th Ed July 7th? - Confirmed for June 23rd - page 6

If people buy the black reach box, the 5th ed rules will be useless. How will GW do it, give everybody a small 6th ed rulebook aswell?
YES!
GW has a flawless trackreckord when it comes to reimbursing people when one of their products becomes obsolete.
/sarcasm off
Even with a useless rulebook, the AoBR set is still insanely good value for money. And as a starter game, there is absolutely nothing wrong with still providing the old 5th edition book in it for 2 months to come. It usually takes a few weeks/months before everybody in a gameing group plays the new edition.

Two weeks ahead. Do we need to prepare for this? How much will the rulebook cost? Is a starter set on the way and when will it come out?
Cost is anyone's guess right now.
A starter set will no doubt be on the way, but GW's MO for the last couple of editions has been to give the full rulebook a couple of months to sell through first.

Makes sense.
You need to sell that big book and nobody would buy it if they could get a cheap small one wiith starter set right away.
Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.
Sigged for truth.

I suppose I am being overly optimistic by hoping that 6th ed will actually make a decent game for once. In reality they will probably do what they usually do with a new edition, rearrange the furniture.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

If previous editions are anything to go by, it will be the 3.4 edition. So, the people who are saying "but I've only just learned 5th!" need not worry - you're not going to be asked to uni-cycle and juggle at the same time.
But, enthusiasm in contagious and all that!
I just find it absolutely nuts that this is perhaps 2 weeks away and the game has had absolutely zero marketing beyond the video. There was even an advert for AoBR in the last WD, which would be a great way to instantly lose a customer if some kid buys that right before a new version is released.
Now taking bets: $100 American/60 pounds sterling for 6th ed hardcover.

Well, this kind of policy allows GW to save money at the adverisement side. But this is nothing new. Look at the GW store at the Hamburg city, almost nobody recognizes it as its very small and in the basement.

Looking forward to seeing how the new edition handles my army, Chaos Daemons.
Well, it can only get better.

I am not sure if anyone even posted about this but I like to check the CW site for changes when a video or a supposed release is on it's way, and I noticed that on the American site that the Warhammer 40k core rule book is completely missing and gone. Not sure if this is old new or not but just good info I thought.
On a personal note SUPER STOKED for 6'th really can't wait to see what they come up with, I have actually liked alot of the rumors floating around.
insaniak wrote:So was I. Warhammer 40K tanking will not kill the hobby. Just Warhammer 40K. Maybe. It certainly didn't kill Battletech.
Is there some secret island colony of battletech players that are still alive? That game appears to be about as dead as they get.
.
Come to Albany, NY-there is a full Battletech league-they play every Thursday. I recently started getting into it, and it's a ton of fun. I even own 5 BT minis and understand the rules now.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It's possible they have a new release every few days up until 6th hits. In just the past week they released 3 flyers, a few days later the ibooks, a few days later the new orcs and goblins models and new TK finecast.
If many players end up getting new releases every few days, this would get their attention to the website. Still not really advertising though.

That would be lovely, but I sincerely doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they released new models to coincide with the rulebook launch though. Did Fantasy 8th edition launch with a bunch of new models, or just the rulebook?

I don't think we will see anything period out of them until the WD drops on the 23rd.
Which in internet reality terms measn that someone in europe will crack one open and scan the goodies for us on the 20th and let us know for sure that we will be preordering product starting on the 23rd
If them recalling all 5th edition rule books from all registered retail and GW stores a few weeks back wasn;t enough of a tip off I don't know what is lol
