Long live the Queen I guess.

Hopefully GW will get back to not providing us with any information on the 6th ed. release.

The one on june 30th just mentioned "the release" without ANY further details. If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on the 30th.

That's some nice reinforcement of this rumor! Thanks for passing it along.

It is very likely not an accident that WD is released a bit earlier than usual this month (I believe the 23rd, which would be one week in advance).

From which we can conclude that GW is either completely insane, or knows more about marketing than the entire film industry.

Well before the lockout I would check the rumors every few months, maybe. Now I check at least once a day hoping to see something new

Any publicity is good publicity right?

They must also know their product well. Just last month I decided that I didn;t need any new models until they release new things for my CSM .... jerks~ lol

The tension is palpable. All this waiting to read the new rules is seriously getting to me, much in the way Christmas excites my children for all of December.

How are fellow players killing time until our (supposed) release date? Im organizing a combat patrol 2-week event at my FLGS, with the winner receiving a new 6th Ed book when they arrive.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Same for me. While I dislike this whole shroud of secrey ploy by GW I have to admit, I'm super eager to get my hands on the book.

As for me, I'm just trying to finish every painting project I have on the go before 6th, as I'm sure the rule changes will require several new projects and I want a clean slate to work from.

Can't wait! I'll finally be able to learn the rules and play a game. I haven't played since I was 13, a decade ago. Completely missed 4th and 5th edition. 6th will be the perfect time to jump back in. I have nothing to compare it against, no previous ruleset to compare against. Blank slate...

For now I'm just working on terrain. But on July 9 and 10 I have to report for jury duty. So guess what I'll be sitting around and reading while I'm waiting to see if I'm picked?

They just posted info about a 40k "meet the design team" open day event on the gw blog here.

It's happening on the 14th July, so that would be a pretty convienient follow up to the 6th ed launch a week or two before.

As sad as it is to say, we are probably going to be disappointed. I was exciting about getting into Fantasy when 8th came out. Then I realized the game was 100% random and your strategy does not matter at all because of how random it is. I bet 6th is going to mirror 8th and will be the same way. Hell, I remember hearing rumors that your psychic powers are going to be randomly determined now. Not sure if those were dispelled or not but the game just keeps getting more and more random which makes the game much worse in my book.

I'll be playing my last game of 5th Ed. next weekend. After that I'm going to hold off a month after 6th releases to see what the response is like.
Until then, I'll be learning Warmachine rules and playing with the two player starter box.
It doesn't really matter to me what happens with the new rules, I'm more of a modeler/painter anyway.

I'll be playing 2 games specially designed for flyers, on the 9th and 23rd June respectively and will try to squeeze in a few more games of 5th as I can. After that I will round up anyone who likes 5th over 6th and try to convince GW staff to let us play it.

I know this is the internet and all, but why are you trying to avoid 6th without having seen it yet? For all you know there's free hummers and booze every game.

I can't afford a BRB at the end of June. And I want to play both, because 5th is good. Unless you play fluffy vs BA Razor+Pred spam.

That is a phenomenal idea. I might have to pitch a similar idea to the owner of my FLGS.

Personally, I'm going to try to keep playing once or twice a week just like I have been. I've started to set aside cash for the 30th. (Told myself months ago that I wouldn't spend $75-$80 on the new hardcover and just wait until I could grab an extra starter set rulebook, but I know that my fiscal fortitude will weaken tremendously when I have one in my hands. Oh well, such is life.)

Just to play Devils Advocate here, but why would a GW manager want to encourage a bunch of people who don't want to, or can't afford to buy the new book? When 6th comes out, that has got to be the game given priority in a GW store, not 5th. I'd just try to get in games of 6th with someone that has a rulebook.

Never trust someone who has to say 'Trust me' with their statement.
