That's fine. Fantasy wargaming isn't for everyone either. There are just as many dudes who look at 40k and see how silly it is and dismiss it.

Oh I think most people should look at w40K and think it silly It's part of the reason I used to enjoy it!
Its no fun when my escapist hobby is more gritty and realistic than my own life

Yeah, obviously we all have different reasons for wargaming. Some don't want to play a caricature.

It's almost as if people have their own opinions on what makes a good wargame... Gasp!

But for serious, I love 40K and will continue playing it. But I also get why people shy away from it and prefer Warmachine or Bolt Action or w/e else catches their fancy. Trying to compare these games is silly, they have separate aesthetics and play styles for a reason. To give us options.

My original point was that its weird that people think there is some sort of morality attached to playing with toy soldiers that represent a time period. Most of us have attained entertainment from something that represents real life at some point or another, be it board game, video game, movies, etc.

The original point, though a rage quit thread may not be the best place to put it, is that Bolt Action makes an amazing alternative to 40k. It is exponentially cheaper and the mechanics are great. Raising awareness™.

Oh yeah, totally agree. The whole history of WWII and real stories to draw from are amazing, no doubt. Bolt Action looks like it does a great job of combining both historically accurate miniatures with functional rules. It looks like a fine alternative to 40K (price is a big plus) and it's in a totally different universe. I could see enjoying either one, or both simultaneously. I've played with a lot of 40K players, in fact, who also play Bolt Action.

Battle of Wizna is a great example from Polish WW II history imo. Here's a song about it, not a fan of the band but the lyrics send shivers down my spine, obviously. Check the numbers at 2:33 to 3:04, the band is Swedish btw so it's not some nationalist spin and unlike the actual Thermopylae, it really was at least 40 to1:

It's like a train wreck. But one made from two circus trains colliding.

A collosal, terrible, flaming, hysterical train wreck with burning clowns running around spraying it with seltzer bottles while ring masters cry out how everything is fine and we should all come in while the dancing elephants lurch around leaving trails of blood behind them.

How could I look away?
