It does kinda seem like you have an excuse for everything though. Sportsmanship, your army, why you lost.

I still don't see what the problem is. Elder are dominating so people brought lists to counter the common Eldar power lists and they won? Maybe the problem is Eldar players need to step up their game and not rely on cookie cutter tactics and learn some different play styles, lists and tactics.

Just my 2 cents.

Naah. He himself gave the perfect solution to his woes: Throw away his Eldar army and buy a Thunder Dome list. You shouldn't play with old Codices, after all.

I just don't see why crying over someone bring a list to counter the common elder list that you know will be there makes any progress. Change it up! Make your list different. I know that won't solve all the problems with the power creep but when you have one of the top creep codex and complaining that people brought a tailored list to beat the list that almost EVERY Eldar player uses makes no sense.

Yeah, the fact that you can count army lists brought by eldar players to major events on one hand is a bit nuts.

I'm good with just giving my opponent a zero for sports, what he does during the game will determine if he gets higher, like if you get me a drink, tell me a joke, do jumping jacks for me. Do any of those and you at least get a 1 for sports.

He got 29/30 for "Would you play this person again?" and 18/30 for "would you play this army again?" Which 5 of those points were lost from his first opponent giving him a zero. The guy brought a grav heavy cult mech and was just bitter, you could see his boo boo stink face from across the room.

Means he was getting 3s and 4s from everyone else, and considering most tournament players know that the more games you win the more salty the people you play against. Them not giving perfect mitigates their losses.

And way to go all stalker Stephie, you're opinion doesn't mean much considering you've never come in the top half and usually racing for last place. You're a goob and always have been.

 Lobukia wrote:

He probably played Dman, who gave him a "0".

That's rather presumptuous.

First, the point trying to be made was that Dman didn't get high sportsmanship scores which is true. Your counter-argument is based on a subjective perception on the attitudes of other players. Secondly, it's not being a stalker if you are using publicly available data to verify someone's claims. That's just fact checking. Thirdly, I fail to see how Stephie not placing high makes her any less qualified to hold an opinion. Fourth, the term "Goob" is utterly meaningless and becomes even more so with how many times you and Dman throw it pretty much everyone. It starting to sound like goob means "Someone who disagrees with me".

Fixed that for you!

At the last Astro I attended a year ago, I had an absolutely amazing game against a fellow named Jeff. I know my army was definitely outclassed, (foot Marines w/IG blob vs. White Scars grav bikers + a pair of awesome attack bike mounted Tunderfire Cannons & Storm Talon).
I got thoroughly blasted to bits, my Guardsmen killed more bikers in assaults than with shooting, my Marines failed almost every single armour save they had to make, and my most accurate shooter was the dude lugging a Lascannon who hit 5/6 Snapshots!

The game was blast however, my opponent I think was in even greater hysterics over how dysfunctional my dice were than I could ever be, and while he brought a clearly competitive army, it was still a fun army to play against, and looked exactly like what you'd imagine a White Scars to be without being highly obnoxious and/or simply using 2-3 codices of cherry picking for the sole purpose of "winning".
By game's end, there was almost nothing of either army left on the table. (lucky for me, I love my Librarians and Jeff had none, allowing me to happily Psy Shriek bikers away in handfuls!)

I lost, but I had a great time doing so, as not only was my opponent an amazing sport, (and unlike a goodly number of more serious "winners", was having a huge laugh at how fickle my dice were), but his army also felt like it was designed to play with me, instead of playing at me, AND, that it belonged within the setting. (unlike the likes of thunderdone, which is a freaking heresy!)
On the other hand, playing against a list like min/maxed Scatbike spam, or the old Warp Quake vs. Daemons, and you're left sitting there feeling like you're only there purely for your opponent's enjoyment, and to be used as effortless target practice. (or a door mat)

I'll readily admit that I almost never win any games I play. It's not that I suck at tactics or game play, it's just that I have really, really, really terrible times with dice... At the 2012 Astro for example, I managed to not only successfully wound both Tiggy and my Epistolary through perils in all 6 games, but I also managed to outright kill the Epistolary in 3 of those games! (twice in a row too!)

The 'worst' game for my dice, I failed 22/23, 3+ armour saves before my Sallies remember to 'turn on' their power armour.

The only game I won? I lucked into a perfect match-up against a horde Tyranid army where the mission forced my opponent to come strait at me and into the waiting barrels of my flamers & meltas.

I swear though, that one of these years, I will manage to trump even the very first Canadian GT and pull off a feat of such exceptional bad dice, that the Murphy's Luck award will make it's glorious return! (maybe I should go for pure Terminator Grey Knights?! Hmmmm... my dice + 2+ saves AND psychic tests galore? what could possibly go wrong?! )

then a zero Is what you get. People have to earn the points, up to you if you want them or not, it would just really suck that if at the end of the event you lost out on first place by 3-4 points, could have gotten those points if you had just went and got me a beer lol

I think we found our problem gents. You have to bribe this person to get points, not you know actually have good sportsmanship like what it is SUPPOSED to be for.

Did you get an of you opponents sandwiches or rub their shoulders? Maybe thats why your score is so low.

Let me give you a quick idea of how Dman137's ideas concerning sportsmanship scores would fly with most of the TOs that I know:

"Hey, you two, over at table 20!"

"Yeah?"

"What?"

"I just got your results sheets back for the last round. You both gave each other a zero in sportsmanship! What the heck happened? I didn't get called over there, and it doesn't look like you two got into a fistfight."

"I gave him a zero because he didn't get me a soda out of the fridge when I asked him to."

"He told me that he was going to give me a zero in sportsmanship by default unless I did what he wanted, so I gave him a zero back in retaliation."

"(rolls eyes) Okay, let me make something clear. Five is the default, not zero. You are expected to be a good sport naturally, not by earning points. If I see either of you pulling this kind of stunt again, I'm going to have you both disqualified."

"Understood."

"No fair! This tournament sucks! I'm going to complain about it on DakkaDakka!"

Exalted for Truth.

Why should I cater to an opponent who already brings a pain-in-the-ass list so I get some sportsmanship score? Surely if they bring their A-grade units I should treat them with no sympathy?
I know it sounds like powergaming, and to an extent it is, but to win; have 0 sympathy for everyone. Space Marines don't dick around in fluff so why should their leader do that? If some showed me no sympathy in a Tournament game, I'd give them a straight up 5 because it's what 'war' is about, give your enemy a chance and they will seize it! Sure this mindset doesn't work in casual and T1 tabling isn't fun, but you gotta do what it takes. I shouldn't cater to an enemy with OP units, If I played Orks V Necrons, I would spam the everloving crap out of their best units, mob them and mess them up!

tldr if you're a dick 5/5
