Have I mentioned how much I hate this thing? Finally got the last legs on it. Just need to clean it up, find a easy way to do a ton of rivits (open to recommendations), glue the control tower on and oh yeah get the elevator working

I don't think they will. That's why it was such a pain. The whole thing is built on a wood frame which goes through the table and is secured to the table frame with screws. Hopefully it's pretty stupid proof

Sounds like a solid (ha!) plan to anchor the tower to the table to avoid accidents. Unfortunately, my experience has been that you can make things stupid-resistant, but not stupid-proof. Once you make something stupid-proof Nature just makes a better stupid.

What a large undertaking! I'm VERY impressed and would OVE the opportunity to play on this once it's finished! Keep up the great work

Thanks guys. Getting people to play on it will be the easy part. The hard part is getting help building it.

What do you guys think the best site is for finding other local modeling enthusiasts? I'm not looking to play games I just want someone to come help me work on this frakin thing

Check with your local train shop, there’s always people there that enjoy building dioramas. The only hard part is finding someone who has a similar idea/ concept or is willing to work to your design.

Yeah. What i Should have done is work on the two buildings that came off the table at my FLGS and Gained interest. Unfortunately those buildings (the manufactorum and landing pad) are pretty much done now.

Anyone have recommendations for easy rivits?

A buddy of mine uses these rivets to good effect or brita filter beads

and they work with plastic glue

I have a really small hole puncher, which does something like 3mm holes, so I just take plasticard and punch a bunch of holes on it, empty the hole puncher, and voila! Tones of rivets.

Couple more questions:

1) how should I deal with these screws? Should I remove them and hope the super glue is enough to hold the platform on the wood frame? Cover them with plasticard? Or would there be a way to use a small sodering tool to melt the heads and make them less pronounced?



2) which do you like better: the standard landing platform armored flaps with the gun slats (laying flat) or removing them and just using the rectangle backs? I don't really get why the platform would have gun ports.

As for the screws, i kinda like them, like bigass industrial screws.
You could also get some more lamps and clue them on top of the screws to cover them and get some additional light.

You could get the tow hook loops from guard vehicles to cover the screws as strap down points.

There are boxes in both the rhino and landspeeder storm kits that should cover those screws. You could also use the smaller boxes from the armoires containers kit. That way it would look like cargo had been recently unloaded.

Dead bodies also work . You could magnetize some dead bodies from all the factions to swap out at each game.

Crates? I've got crates for miles

We now have the beginnings of all 4 bridges accross the canal. 1 road, 1 monorail, the river level man bridge and another man bridge on the far side. There will be one more road version but it will be destroyed.

I hope these make for interesting play

This isn't going to be super fun to play on. It'll be awesome! Especially multi-player battles, with several players on each side. I'm just imagining one player defending the walls while the other one locks down the bridges.


How much does a plane ticket to where ever you are cost?!

That's what I'm thinking too. It will probably be set up in a two part game. First some sort of seige game, then a second game with one team defending from the other side of the river.

Like I stated before, I'm probably going to run a guard army with all those terrain cover saves but jump packs would be really helpful

Speaking of which I just found out my final kit bash idea for my plannetary guard seems to have gone pretty main stream.

Every single one gets stuck in its barrel and I have to pop it out with a safety pin. Which is not so easy
