Yeah, I’m just trying to figure out how to incorporate some of these type of trees with this dead zone look for one area but also have some other areas with some fuller. With the snow fall and far less blast craters I think the table may be more of a cross between this dead mans style and battle of the bulge.

I guess the point was I’m trying to decide how the trees were destroyed so I can indicate that on my board. Like I was thinking the ground would need to all be scorched and black across the whole area due to fire but if it’s really from shelling I don’t have enough craters

And the technique product I will be using is from Luke’s Aps Witcher diorama

I suspect your full trees are going to make the most sense in the "quietest" areas of the battlefield - ie not next to or between anything that could be bombed, shelled, shot through etc. That... doesn't leave a lot of areas .

Sheltered between buildings with limited fire arcs might work too - between your two marked Full Trees areas above - protected by the sloping river bank and bunker.

Alternatively, one or two "lucky" lone trees could pretty much go anywhere.

A note, planted trees cannot be moved during gameplay. Sometimes, they really get in the way.

My thoughts would be to ensure the trees are out of the way.

Not the best picture but we Made some progress today that I wanted to show

Trees glued in, mill painted, more dead/blowup trees added and some sand (which really needs to be blended in better) added.

From the other side:

The mill a little closer (still needs the water wheel, the side posts added and to get ground/plaster pushed up to it.

And per our discussion about how the trees should be dead/blasted we added a bunch more and pushed the live trees towards the creek and board sides but they aren’t showing great in the photos.

And another angle I just thought was kind of cool

The dead trees really add a lot to the board in terms of realism, fantastic.

This board is really coming together. You guys should take the table on a world tour when it's done so we can all appreciate the workmanship and maybe play a game or two on it.

Impressive stuff, i must have wasted at least half an hour of company time browsing this!

I love scratchbuilding myself too, and this would be what i'd do if i had plenty of space, ideally a full room just for gaming. Mancave, anyone ?

Keep at it man! Ya got yourself a new subscriber haha

Here are all the ground covers we have prepped to put on the table prior to a light snow cover later. Would like to get some feed back from the community for where you all think these should go?

SAND ROCK MIX:
Unfortunately all of the ready base stuff from geek gaming look super close to one another and are pretty light. Where would you put this?
- along the creek
- in front of rock croppings?
- anywhere else?

DEAD FOLIAGE:
Agian pretty light outside of the forest ground cover by geek gaming.
- was thinking just mixing again and piling around the dead trees?

GRASSES (fine yellow, burnt grass and earth blend):
-again should I just mix these or use separate?
- what areas? I’d like to avoid anywhere near the trenches or in the dead zone proper.
- maybe the big hill by the mill
- and the other two small hills?

Good god. I think we may really need another full video tour of this table here in the future. I wish I had the space and carpentry ability to put together a table like this.

As requested, an updated video with all 6.5 tables that total 23.5’ in length!

We’ve obviously added a lot more work to our plates but I’m really liking the layout and feel more now.

And here are some pictures but honestly it’s pretty hard to capture this whole thing

Wow, just awesome.

I love the statement "honestly it’s pretty hard to capture this whole thing". I imagine a Praetorian general stood on the far end stating this to his staff officers. Never mind the practicalities of getting phots that do it justice!

Thanks for sharing
